[X] She was going to sit in on final lesson with Elder Ying

We will see the foxgirl again on next foxspirit hunting adventure. But we dont have anything with Elder Ying.

Seriously, people are taking the "we'll see Su Ling again at some point anyway" way too far.
We still have 2 Summit turns left and then next we'll do Li Suyin's Diviner and deal with the immediate Summit consequences, good or bad. It will be 4 turns at the minimun before we have a chance to interact with Su Ling again. How long will that be in real life time?
We'll meet with Li Suyin again far sooner and yet we interacted with her. Singling out Su Ling as the only important friend that we don't visit now is incredibly weird. Poor Su Ling has been receiving this kind of treatment since Forge.

For real, last time we talked with Su Ling she was severely injured and emotionally exhausted. How jarring is it that Ling Qi doesn't check to see how she is faring?
The Diao foxkids plot keeps being mentioned as the reason as why we'll meet Su Ling again eventually. Well, even leaving aside the recent Su Ling POV, Ling Qi would certainly want to know now how that is progressing.
And taking that sidestory into account, we know that the Diao actually found a foxkid already! Do people really don't want to know what Su Ling has decided to do about that? I very much do!

Are we going to let that go for an elder that, regardless of Zhengui and TFR, Ling Qi interacted with for a single week 2 years ago? A single week. If I had to choose between Elders Su and Ying, I would choose Ying without doubt. But not between Ying and Su Ling+Guan Zhi. Zhengui isn't even with us right now!

Talking with Guan Zhi could also gives us a general idea of what are the Sect's plan for the incoming underground war arc. It would be massively useful to learn if they want to fortify denfenses, or are planning another deep incursion or anything else.
The Su Ling+Guan Zhi option has so many advantages over Ying.

The conversation with Ying is just going to be so similar to Elder Su's. Comments about how Ling Qi has changed and grown. The difficulty and dangers of our diplomatic effort. Generics thanks and farewells. Yadda Yadda. More of the same, and it doesn't interest me in the slightest.

So far, we've talked to our friends- music club, Liao Zhu, Han Jian, and then Suyin. Then we've talked to Elder Su and we're ending with Jiao and Xin. Talking with Elder Ying will make this make it friend friend friend, elder elder elder, which is the best development imo. we'll talk to Sixiang after Jiao and Xin, so family. And then if we pick House of Ling next turn, we'll probably do it first before we leave the sect.

So then it'll be Friend ---> Elder ---> Family. Which is a pretty solid narrative development for a goodbye arc.

Plus, as many people have said, Elder Ying is the elder who has had the most impact on us, ignoring Jiao and Xin. And if we manage to get more info on Zhengui's parents, that'll be fun. We have the Burrowing Behemoth Liminal location, and this might be a good way to start bring it into the narrative.

Bleeding Mountain is connected to Old Road/New Road and the Wang thing. Nightmare of the Long Knives is connected to the Hui and Diao, iirc.

Burrowing Behemoth doesn't really have a connection to the narrative, apart from Zhengui's bio mom, who hasn't been mentioned in forever.

Since we got Zhengui from her trial, this can be a good way to introduce his parents into the narrative so that we can visit the liminal location later on.

We'll meet Su Ling eventually.
Unless something else happens, in which case we won't see Su Ling.
Even best case scenario means months of waiting, possibly more than a year.

If people want to meet this elder more than they want to meet Su Ling, fine.
But the argument that we're going to get Su Ling anyway is terrible one, just like the argument that we can vote for Su Ling and Li Suyin later was garbage.

Cue Yrs reading this and deciding to throw in a surprise Ith-ia assassination attempt.

[x] She would see Su Ling next, who would be coming out of military drill with her former commander Guan Zhi

There may be more Su Ling options available later... but one less Su Ling option now is one less Su Ling option total. It is always going to be a "this or that" question. Choosing "not Su Ling now" doesn't magically give us an extra Su Ling moment later for free. The question is whether an Elder Ying scene is worth more or less than a Su Ling scene. that's literally the question here... and what is an Elder Ying scene worth, really?

Personally, I'll echo what others have said. I literally cannot recall her as an individual in any way. Other people have said "she gave us this cool stuff. It was really important". Well... okay. I guess I believe you. As far as an actual personal relationship, though... there kind of wasn't one. t least, there wasn't enough of one to have me actually remember her as a character.

To be fair, during the last vote, I didn't pick Suyin + Hua Su based on Suyin v Su Ling. I picked it based on Elder Su v Guan Zhi because we're going to see the SuSu duo one way or another. The same for Guan Zhi, if she appears in the war arc. But we won't see Elder Su again, so I wanted to talk to her. It's the same for Elder Ying. We won't see Elder Ying again, and she, like Han Jian and the music club, has helped Ling Qi immensely during Forge of Destiny. It's as simple as that.

Paying Respects is all about saying goodbye to all the people who have helped us along the way. All the people we're leaving behind. It has been pushed back a lot because it would be too early to say goodbye. Now that we're finally saying goodbye, I want to actually say goodbye to the people we're leaving behind. Su Ling and Suyin just don't fit that image. Yes, it'll take a while to meet them, and it'll be really long irl, but it's as simple as that (at least for me).

And I really dislike the reductive description of Elder Ying's help. You can literally classify Jiao and Xin in the same way. The challenge which gave us our first Moon art took a day or two, and Jiao gave us thieving lessons for a similar amount of time as Elder Ying (I think it was a month). They still had a big impact on how we developed. It's the same with Elder Ying. Without her challenge and her help, we wouldn't have Zhengui or TRF. Meizhen wouldn't have Earth. Suyin wouldn't have started on her current path. Small ripples create big waves, and we have to acknowledge that and thank the people who started us on our path. That's the whole point of Paying Respects.

We have spoken to literalyl everyone else, she is one of our closest friends, and a massive pillar of our cultivation is the idea of community and connections, we spent time on literally everyone else and the idea of leaving without even seeing her should be ridiculous. The fact there are so many votes in favor of ignoring one of our closest friends during a war before we go off to not see them for months if not years is completely insane.
