Let's try this (please let me have my aliens)? Everything else is relevant, I think. Textbooks shouldn't take much writing, and are basically there for setting up "study ahead using Exalted shenanigans" - we were told that we didn't need to spend more time studying, if we could study better. I am trying to use that. Prophecies featuring our family - yeah, I want to know those. And they aren't a breach of our agreement with White God. The origin of humanity might give us Exalted Lore. Supernatural USA universities is relevant to choosing our university.

Maybe it might be better to ask "what is the sequence of words that make a list all of the locations (coordinates, with a 50m radius about the point) with writings in the languages depiced in this photo, sorted by number of words in each location?"
That way we can have clippy find out what is at each location (museum? private collection? (or unknown, so maybe a nercomancer's lab)), and then they can look into who might own those places.
I don't think we should burn our photo of these words on an 'unclaimed' when we might be able to get leads on the libarys of bad guys.

Although I'd be wary that it might be too broad - when it come to getting the most bang-for-our-buck I keep feeling like I am trying to rules-lawyer the QM, as I am intentionally pushing up to the edges of the scope of what we can ask, so:
@DragonParadox, would the above be ok or is it too wide? (I'm espically leery about the "what is the sequnce of words that..." aspect, as that easily builds into multipart questions; here I'm trying to use it for 'all locations (corrodinates)' + 'sort function'.

Edit: the SETI question I object to; it's a really cool idea and I 100% see Molly asking it, but having the QM invent a whole alien species and what they can do and what they are like is an absurd amount of work and If it does have an impact on the quest's narrative/exploration of themes I don't see it as being a positive one, sorry.

I think a few of these are wasteful. Textbook shopping for mundane stuff can easily be done by having tireless cyber devils gun them down for us.
Also, a little bit of a nitpick but I think the questions need to be formed in terms of the focus to actually count. That is, asking "what's prophecies feature my family" while looking at a photo burns Molly's family as a topic because that's the cornerstone of the question. Asking "what if any prophecies feature the people in this photo" would just burn the picture.

Yes that is a valid question since you have the writing samples. That said the subject here is Old Realm itself, you ask this and this is the only question you can ask about the language.
I... Don't think so? I mean, we used Mister the cat as a focus to find Mab's plans. We didn't burn out the topic of Mab's plans. We burned out Mister as the focus. We burn (I think) the foci, not the topics themselves.
In principle true, but then, those could be obscure / not in English / not digitized, and cyberdevils lack the ability to choose the best. I just hope our exaltation has it. And the textbooks as foci aren't expensive, I feel, in terms of what we lose.
I think that's a bit too "gamey". I deliberately didn't apply any optimization tricks to the questions. It felt more honest to me.

Broad question burns a big topic. That seems fair. Would Yog's original question burn only the photo/the instance of the language being used in the ritual or would it burn the entire language called 'Old Realm'?
In regards to my list, are the foci "correct"? In the sense that we would be burning the foci themselves, not the whole global topics, like "Old Realm", "physics", "carpenter family", etc?

DP is fine with it, so if your orignal question would also burn the languge 'Old Realm', I'll be voting for my idea. If your question only burns that photo/that instance of us using it in a ritual then I'll stick with your write in.
It's the "unclaimed" bit that I have issue with tbh.

The unclaimed and undiscovered part was used under the assumption that we'll burn the phito and not the topic. We could then find the collection of writing without alerting anyone, and use it as a focus for further research.

You might not have noticed my edit, but unless aliens (from Molly's material universe, from other star systems are already in Dresdenverse, I really don't think we should add them to the quest's narrative), so I'll be voting for a variant that does not have that in it.
Yeah, but my point is that we framed that question in terms of mister the cat, which is why he was the thing that got burned.
In order to be the focus for a question the subject has to the the focus of the question in a technical sense.
Or that's my understanding anyway. That's why all of my question suggestions in the past have gone out of their way to link together what we're looking at directly to how the question is phrased even when it reads awkwardly.
This chapter made me very happy. The power of the friendship remains true. Hopefully in time we can give our friends more tools to keep them safe, and they can keep us grounded.
As for the current vote. We obviously want to know as many things as possible, that was one of our driving motivations.

Even if that doesn't happen, I'm a subscriber to the idea that, "The only reason no one has conquered the Earth is because they didn't conquer the moon first" the more information on space we can get the better. Let's achieve orbital supremacy and killsat our enemies. Heck, the qm said a while ago that the ISS was a valid Cyber Devil target. I want that just for the street credit. Being the mystical owner of humanity's collaboration to overcome space has to have some metaphysical significance.

Your question would burn the instance of Old Realm you have, so you would have to find another instance of it out in the wild to ask more.

1) If there are aliens, then Uriel being capable of destroying galaxies is very impressive. if there aren't, than he'd be destroying base matter, which is very much conceptually simpler. I want to check if there's actually meaningful universe ourside of Earth, or if stars might as well be lightbulbs on a celestial sphere.
2) At least partially, I expect our exaltation to default to giving us locations of any surviving exalted era demons, i.e. primordial / yozi subsoul species, who would fit the description of being sapient non-terrestrial aliens
Ok, so, to be as clear as possible - it'll burn the example of Old Realm in the photo, not everything about Old Realm language in general. So, for example, we wouldn't be able to ask "who was [Perfected Principle of Consumtpion]" without finding some other recording of that name, but if we did find that name written somewhere else, like say the library we find using the question, we'd be able to ask additional questions?

While I am the one to suggest it in the first place, given how RVD seems to work, I'd rather find it using RVD, and use the crown and the Critias to check for traps. In any case, this is not urgent, as we are not likely to go exploring before talking to Mab

1) Using "dedicated to" instead of "buried under" for detective's tombstone in case Daedalus or someone else are pulling shenanigans and it's not actually detective Green buried under his tombstone
2) Keeping the humanity's origin in my wording, as I feel it's closer to the intent. The "how is this wrong?" feels too gamey to me.
3) I did change the wording for aliens, but I feel that's a bit too narrow. Still, ok.
