Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Almost certainly not because if bags of holding were a thing they definitely would have taken the effort to get some for the skin games heist. The fact that they could only safely run away with so much was a major plot point. Now maybe we can make them, but if we can it will be another case where we make normal wizards eyes bug out.

@DragonParadox : How many people are at Max's pretending not to listen in?

So far the other patrons do not seem to have noticed anything odd as far as Molly can see.

That would be an interesting and potentially powerful minor talent for someone like Rose to possess, if such things are possible.

That's Dresden Files, he's asking if they're part of World of Darkness. I know that full Mages can make them, but those are outright replaced by DF Wizards, and you need to worry about Paradox destroying them. The Path of Enchantment the Sorcerers can access probably can't do it even with rank five items judging by what the examples are capable of (although there are specifically rules for unique rank six ones that Charm use would let Molly hit reliably if she masters the Path as a whole...)

Edit: ah, I see I was ninjaed a minute ago.

Point of correction:
This is a mundane restaurant. Not McAnally's place, which is primarily a bar, not an eating place.
You can tell by the fact that a lot of people didnt hurriedly leave when we entered.

Im pretty sure the Fae in the Dresdenverse can do it as well.
What Lea did with Dresden's armor in Changes or with transforming his allies into smaller animals, or what Mother Summer did in Cold Days, is certainly well within that order of effect.

Similarly, how the RPG describes the mechanics of shapeshifting into smaller or bigger animals suggests that it should be doable to make a bag of holding by shunting the contents sideways into a dimensional notspace.

But for any sorcerers using the WoD system?
Its probably easier to use Conjuration and summon a prepared item to their hand. Like a sword, or a gun.
Cheaper than the investment required to make a bag of holding.

[X] What can she tell us about the local community? People and places. We are acquainted Harry and a few others "movers and shakers", but not with those who just live their lives - "people on the street".
-[X] Try to put her further at ease by letting her ask you what questions she almost certainly has (within reason, of course). And by actually ordering the food.
-[X] Use Empathy and Etiquette excellencies
-[X] Stunt: "Well, first of all, what would you like to order? My treat." you ask, as you try to project the image - not one of a Dreaded Empress To Be, but one of Molly Carpenter - the teenage church going girl, who is still very much a part of her community. "I wanted to ask about the local community. If I was your neighbor's daughter, newly come into her gifts, who would you introduce me to? What places would you recommend me to visit? Dad and Harry can explain geopolitics to me, but what's the local scene like? Oh, and if you want to ask me anything in turn, please feel free".

I figure, if we needed 10+ successes for her not to run away, we should make an effort to further put her at ease.

I suspected as much.
So yeah, Yog's right; references do help in social conditions. Gonna have to be sure and drag either Harry or Michael with us when we show up at McAnally's for the first time.

Probably wont need to at Bock's Books; just tell Harry to call ahead on our behalf and vouch for us.

Lol. Probably beyond her.
If she had Conjuration Path Sorcery otoh, she could have potentially summoned a shotgun from her car.

I am not especially conversant with WoD, but Bags of Holding arent a thing that I can recall.
Not at the level of power that many lesser talents/linear sorcerers are operating at.

WoD Mages otoh can definitely pull off equivalent effects pretty straightforwardly.
Thats how they have cars that are bigger on the inside than the outside, or ammunition magazines that seem to never run out of bullets while firing.

[X] What can she tell you about others like herself, the minor talents of Chicago

If we are careful about what we tell others about our abilities?
So will they.
So start with things she feels comfortable talking about.
Given how she reacted to Molly despite not being a CoD my bet is that her talents run towards the spiritual side of things. Something like Matthews' totem binding gimmick, since we know that gave him the senses needed to detect cyber devils even when they're inactive and in someone's pocket.

Not the same thing, since Matthews' couldn't detect Molly's nature directly, but something in the same zip code.

One thing to note about how people see Molly, her charms are not like a D&D wizard's spells, something you learn, they are not even like Dreseden's spells, emanations of a general skill in a type of magic. Molly's charms are spiritual organs. Now one of those organs is a megaphone that blares: "Kneel Worms" to every single creature of darkness in your vicinity, but that does not mean the others cannot also be noticed for a talent with the right affinities.

And now I really want to know what she sees when she looks at us. Can someone add that to their write-in, please? That would be great.

I'd like to know as well, but it strikes me as a sort of narcissistic question to ask directly at a first meeting.

I'm not sure if this is your intention, but your vote reads like we'd be answering any question she asks. Putting her at ease is one thing, but that doesn't mean we should give a total stranger cliff notes on Molly's exaltation.

So looking though the flavor text of all our charms if someone looks upon us with their third eye they are likely to see a sea monster whose flesh and bones are inscribed with a litany of the pain and hardships with a heart of ice sitting upon a throne of darkness.

And maybe if they don't get distracted by all that distributing imagery they might notice that our expression is filled with compassion.

Actually to be systemic about this rather than just working off impression after reading the charms here are the charms who's flavor text describe who the Infernal is rather than what they do.

By Rage Recast ●●
The Infernal's resentment and anger manifests itself within her flesh, granting her demonic features.

Ox-Body Technique ●
The Infernal's flesh is fortified with the power to survive the very tortures of Hell.

Scar-Writ Saga Shield ●
The Infernal scribes a litany of the pain and hardships she has endured upon her heart and her very bones, fortifying her flesh against harm.

Without Honor, Without Hope ●
The chill of the Night Realm forever abides within the Infernal's heart, leaving her inured to all lesser chills and discomforts. Indeed, they become a source of strength to her.

Boiling Sea Mastery ●
The Infernal is a sea monster, and the depths hold no terrors for her of any sort.

So fortified flesh filled with resentment and anger and inscribed with a litany of the pain and hardships.

Cold heart.

Is a sea monster.

Although Demonic Primary of Essance was what was mentioned as causing the problem it is actually one of charms whose flavor text is described as something the Infernal does rather than something the Infernal is. It talks about the hellish authority like clothes we can wear.

We are not fae. We are not bound by our inexact words. We do not face magically enforced consequences from lying. I trust Molly to exercise some judgement. @DragonParadox do I need to actually specify that Molly does not intend to spill any and all secrets she has?

To be on the safe side, I edited the vote a little bit, in the "-[] Try to put her further at ease by letting her ask you what questions she almost certainly has. And by actually ordering the food." part to

-[x] Stunt: Reassuring smile "Don't worry I might be garbbed in hellish authority such that all lesser wicked things are like writhing worms or mere grains of sand cast before me which is scary, but by the same token you aren't a wicked thing so my authority doesn't apply to you. Doesn't that make you feel better?"

She is already scared. But fear of the unknown becomes less when acknowledged. As Dresden often says knowledge is the weapon against fear.

In order:
1)Molly has been repeatedly warned about keeping her secrets.
She is not going to freely talk about her abilities or her personal history to someone she has just met, nor is she likely to expect such a person to freely talk about theirs.

Thats the point of the question allowing Moskowitz to volunteer what she's comfortable offering, instead of pressuring her to talk.

2)Do not offer food to someone who has doubts about your magical nature, because gifts can obligate you to the giver.
Which is a problem when they think you may be a hell lord. And if you go into the whole rigmarole of formal oathgiving, you risk strengthening the impression of inhumanity. Because teenage girls dont talk that way.

Respectfully? Your vote is doing, or attempting to do, way too much.

From the expense on Excellencies without paying attention to Essence levels (we're currently at 10/12, and you want to spend an extra 2 motes on Etiquette and Empathy both) to suggesting carte blanche on questions from a stranger that we never even offered people backing us up during a fight. Lydia hasnt been offered that much information.

This is the occult version of a first date. You dont expect too much on a first date.
The aim should be to try to put the other person at ease and exchange contact information, not try to hit third base.
The moment she sat down, this meeting was successful.

We just have to not fuck it up.

And now I really want to know what she sees when she looks at us. Can someone add that to their write-in, please? That would be great.
First date.
You cannot expect fortright honesty from someone who just met us and was just barely convinced not to flee in gibbering terror.
Her first instinct is going to be not to give offence and get eaten by the apparent hell lady across from her.

Furthermore, if she is honest and detailed about what she sees, it would give us a good idea of just how good her senses are.
Which means its likely to come off as a roundabout way of asking her what her powers are.
Which defeats the purpose of setting her at ease in order to establish a reputation/relationship.

EDIT
So looking though the flavor text of all our charms if someone looks upon us with their second sight they are likely to see a sea monster whose flesh and bones are inscribed with a litany of the pain and hardships with a heart of ice sitting upon a throne of darkness.

And maybe if they don't get distracted by all that distributing imagery they might notice that our expression is filled with compassion.
Does not work that way.
We have literally had a full wizard of the White Council soulgaze us, and look at us at close range.

-[X] Apply social excellencies as needed
-[X] Stunt: Looking her just below the eye in the manner of practitioners avoiding a soul gaze, Molly allows a small measure of apologetic uncertainty to enter her tone. "I'm sorry to scare you like this, I'm sure a meeting with as strange a stranger as I can be wasn't what you had in mind today. "
—[X] With increasing confidence, leans in and continues. "I'm sort of an odd position at the moment, with a lot of knowledge about some things and much less about others. I've gotten different bits from different people, but not a lot from people who live the community day to day. I was hoping you could help with that"

Let's start slow, this person doesn't seem hostile or particularly dangerous but knowledge is power in the Dresden Files. Just answering any questions she has, even seemingly harmless ones, isn't a good idea.

I'd rather feed her to our ghouls than explain how essence works, what a charm is, or give any definition on what any single one can do to a stranger we met on the internet.
We are not fae. We are not bound by our inexact words. We do not face magically enforced consequences from lying. I trust Molly to exercise some judgement. @DragonParadox do I need to actually specify that Molly does not intend to spill any and all secrets she has?

We've already voted to overshare several times, and inviting her to ask questions risks her asking about something we don't what to share. We can duck around that, but it outlines what we aren't willing to talk about.

Assuming Molly will just handle it as we prefer isn't a good plan.

This person isn't really worth leaking information for.
