Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Mab is not our enemy.
If we considered Mab our enemy, you'd see it on the character sheet.

Seriously, you DONT want Mab as an enemy.
So, Mab isn't a member of the Winter Court? Interesting, I remember the situation was different in the DF. Well, you consistently have been voting for Mab's appeasement, I suppose, I can't change your mind about the issue.

Well, we have rules for taking people out: "By paying 2 Essence while crossing over into her inner landscape, the Infernal may also bring up to a score of willing, restrained, or unconscious individuals along with her. Visitors to the Kingdom may stay for as long as they wish (indeed, they may even become permanent residents), and are free to depart whenever they desire – so long as they are able to walk to the border of the realm." These are the rules for visitors. There's nothing explicit about those we send to our kingdom via charms. I'll assume that they could also leave. In fact, I have designed several ways of doing so in my write-up (see the threadmark).

Even if it takes time, though, it's still better than dying completely, I feel. It's a good backup option.

As I understand it; demonstrating the ability to escape Hell is the test to be 'elevated' into a Wan Kuei. The testing grounds that mortals took to become Wan Xian fell into the Hells and now damned souls can go through the trials in highly modified form. Being released by the Yama King inside isn't a test of ability required to qualify for what's a lot like a very cursed Exaltation.

Not everyone qualifies to become one of the Hungry Dead, you have to be exceptional.

Inclining my head is not a genuflection.
Been there, done that.

As in, we see Eldest Gruff do it to Mab, and they arent of the same Courts.
The option literally says 'bow', that's a bit more than nodding respectfully.

Like, I'll happily vote for a write in that specifies we're to remain polite whilst picking a greeting that makes it clear we don't work for her.

Honestly, we should probably use a formal greeting from Ursum.

Would you bow if you met a foreign chancellor or president?

We might not be her equal, but we are also not in her authority.
Cold Days chapter 33
Yes?" asked Mother Summer.
"I was sort of expecting . . . something else."
"Winter and Summer are two opposing forces of our world," she said. "But we are of our world. Here, that is all that matters. And showing respect to one's elders is never unwise."
"Yes, ma'am," I said.
Mother Summer gave me a small, shrewd smile.
Words to keep in mind.

[X] Trigger Impervious Primacy Mantle and stare her down, you will not bow your head to any who have not earned it on you, offer a neutral greeting

The point about Mab not being our enemy is that Mab is worth significantly more than a single dot. That's 4-5 dot territory.

It says bow your head.
Not genuflect, or curtsey, or bow from the waist.
Thats well within the respect range without implying we are subordinate.

The staredown is not.
Remember, we came to negotiate, not to flex.

This is sort of getting into "do you want to be right, or do you want to win?" territory in my mind.

If showing her the courtesies she expects costs us nothing but some pride in exchange for a more favorable negotiating position then it's worth the bargain.

We don't need to go crazy with it, but let's not put our self satisfaction over the lives we're negotiating for here.

4 dot.

We would've gotten it if we'd freed or killed Slate.

It would've been great fun!

Best chosen together with the Summer Lady ally background :p
I think killing spade would have made her an enemy sorta. But, only in the show whose boss and work for advantages angle. Instead of kill on sight which would be an even higher dot.

Oh BTW Molly forgot most of the meanings of the signs she drew but she can now write Perfected Principle of Consumption in some strange language. Why that precise combination of Glyphs... no reason :V

Yes, it's a good point. I just think that IC Molly feels animosity to the boss of fetches, so neutral greeting is enough.
She feels animosity towards Fetches.
She doesnt know enough about Mab to feel more than wariness, as far as I can tell. She might think that Mab has uktimate responsibility for them, but not that she sent them to get her.

And she knows IC that Mab is both fucking powerful and has legal claims on both Harry and now Mathews.
She is here to negotiate. She has every incentive to be courteous.
Not obsequious, but courteous.

I am really sick of flinching away from Mab's merest shadow.
That isn't what's going on here. We're entering social combat, which means finding the right levers to pull in order to get what you want. Etiquette and courtesy are (in this context) the stealth weapons of polite society.

This is about the mask we present to get what we want. So do we care more about having a pretty mask, or about proverbially stabbing people and taking their kidneys because we picked an effective one?

@DragonParadox I mean to ask - do we still have the Michael Road Trip left in this arc or are we doing xp spend and then doing that as a mini-arc?
Still got social combat with mab before we leave oh and agreements and goodbyes with the others here. Also escaping the government goons eh though. God their probably gonna be a recurring thing that in my mind make me want to go tuck it then monologue to them how fucked the world is and how unprepared they are.
