Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

1 Phone for Harry, because it'd be hilarious.

Unfortunately you cannot make a mobile phone with crafting, anything with a microchip is technology and you only have one dot in that and no excellency. Even if you did get him one somehow you would need some way to insulate it against the tech bane, Hollow Mind Possession works, but you know... it's a demon loyal to you.

[ ] Agree after all

Its... Having made our case, having stated our position on things? Agreeing here isn't the sort of soul-deep promise we really need to watch out for. Its accepting the balance of power as it is for now and stating that we aren't willing to burn bridges today. Agreeing before would have been something I think we would have been lashed to but, here and now, its something we'll go along with. For her sake and for our father's.

Our father is going to have to accept that we are going to take this agreement for all its worth, if we must abide by it for the near future. We are going to be his shadow. We get off school, we wake up on the weekend, and we are with him.

You know, fuck it, when schedules allow it lets actually help the Carpenter carpenter. Woodworking and construction work powered by spite while we wait for shit to come down the pipe. Even if he isn't going to let us get into harm's way trouble will find the both of us. If nothing else? We'll use our crown to unravel this skein so that Michael knows where trouble will be and he is not one to let himself be blind once he knows.

Charity may not be taking this in a healthy way but she is acting with the best of intentions. I won't fault her for being the victim of past trauma and so we should take this blow. We are our own person in just a few months.

Being homeless is the first step of becoming a Murderhobo. Lets avoid that for now.

Yes, but crafting doesn't require exp! And we have a handy dandy charm for it too.

Also, that's OC stuff. IC it wouldn't hurt for Molly to be aware of how she works. It wouldn't hurt at least. Right now she has no real idea aside from a lot.
So I take the point that we can spend the time crafting, but from a quest enjoyment perspective spending months doing nothing but crafting sounds very very dull.

Honestly, for all that DP is arguing for the Agree option it sounds like easily the worst story beat, and frankly is totally OOC. We're supposed to be Molly Carpenter, headstrong teenage girl who clashes endlessly with her mother.

Besides all that, Molly arguing with her mother is easily IMO the least interesting story beat. And agreeeing is a sure fire way to get plenty more of that.

We're an Exalt. We won't be homeless.

I'd even go so far as to say that finding a place to sleep will be trivially easy.

Minor note, I'm reminded of why crafting in exalted is one of the more frustrating things in the game. It's such an exp hog if you want to do more than be creative with one material.

Also I'm fairly sure the QM can make both options work out.

I just want to point out that I asked and got no confirmation that this is a 'until you're an adult' deal. Which, frankly makes it seem like it's a 'my roof my rules' deal.

Personally, that was what persuaded me to go leave.
Most homes don't have our parents or our siblings.
It's… pretty normal to move out of your parents house as a young adult? Like, I don't think anyone thought we were going to be living with the Carpenters for the rest of our life?

We're going to have to move out eventually. This just brings it forward slightly.

It's not locked at home, it's 'only doing supernatural things with Michael's oversight' and grounded the rest of the time.
I am 500% going to try to have Molly and Michael chip away at the crafting aspects of that limitation, as 'don't make stuff' does nothing to address Charity's stated concerns of having Molly get into dangerous shit.

Maybe one or two hours/sessions/actions under Michael's supervision where Molly makes something her dad can use; and after that they prevail on Charity to chill. Or just skirt the 'no crafting' bit of 'needs supervision' rule untill Molly not adhering to it is Charity's normal.

Strict rules set down by parents at the time can be worn away over time. Well, sometimes.

I'm thinking low-key household repairs might be a good vector.

The way I decided to do it was:
  1. Choose a specialty, that is what you use all your dots on
  2. Related fields are dots-1
  3. Unrelated fields are dots -2
So if you pick say blacksmithing with your 4 crafting you roll 3 dice on jewelry and glassblowing, but only 2 for say basket-weaving

A interesting challenge for a corrupted champion of Sol.

Parents.

I mean usually your parents would want to kill you for being a demon wearing their offsprings skin - how the times have changed!

I am not arguing for agree, I just wanted to make it clear what it's limits are and the ways you can try to undermine it. You are not a fey bound to your word and any agreement there would be pretty damn resentful.

The fact that her empathy got bumped up to 'professional diplomat' levels is is the reason is why Molly can see this from the other side enough that agree is an option.

What is our specialty? I'm blind apparently and can't see what it is on the character sheet.

Well. That wasn't a good look for us. May as well keep digging this hole and see where it leads us.
Why are people so against the commitment even though the DP says we can try again in a few weeks?
I mean it's grounded not actual jail you might be able to talk her out of it in a week or two.

For that matter you could just agree with it and sneak out.

We failed social combat. Let's accept the consequences for now and slowly expand our boundaries, if need be we can reroll persuasion at a later point after showing a willingness to be reasonable and reinitiate social combat then.

As an Exalt we can do anything we choose, but the one thing an Exalt never tried to choose is a normal life. However the Great Curse doesn't exist here, we have a loving family (even if our mom's way of showing it causes conflict), a good mentor in our father, a stable house, good food, and time we can use to train. Let's take what we can get and go slow. It's only natural for parent's to fear for their children, and while one day we will have demonstrated such overwhelming strength that mom understands we don't need to be protected, right now we are just a little girl in a big world of cosmic horrors who a loving mother is trying to save, and there is nothing wrong with that.

No giving our agency to NPCs. I don't care how well founded Charity's fears are, they will not protect us from the world.

Besides, I'm sick of all this lawful good nonsense. Lets go out and make the world bend to our will like a freaking Exalted.
