The Smallest of Dragons, The Loudest of Roars (An ASOIAF Valyrian Adventure Quest)

It begins...

[X]The Doom (102 BC): There are whispers that the Masters of the Freehold is trying to do something… Something terrible. You did not know what it was… But all you saw as you flew away… There was no time. There was only fear. And as the Fourteen Flames Exploded… there was only one thought on your mind. "Doom"

This sounds like a very exciting place to start, the breaking of a superpower and all that that entails, Volantis clinging to the ideals of the freehold, and Aurion the Dragonlord mounting a host in Qohor. The Targaryens, petty dragonlords suddenly elevated in relevance and the dreams of Daenys proven true...

Interesting!

[X]The Final Ghiscari War (2000 BC): The final great conflict of Valyrian and Ghis is at hand. The Slavers of The Ghiscari empire have finally forgotten their place among the states of the world, and have… forgotten that it is Valyria that rules this world… That Dragons' are greater than the Harpies.

But you have exactly two problems.

One, you are but one dragon rider (potentially two or three, depending on if you choose to marry your sisters/brothers in the next turn creating yourself) against the world, and while Dragons are powerful...

They are not... in fact, invincible.

It'll be interesting to see where we end up after the empire is blown to pieces. The other starts have their advantages but I like adventures, and nothing says adventure like having your home destroyed.

Ah! That makes it all the more exciting in my opinion, I'm sure this will be an interesting scenario regardles of how difficult it is, there is much peril yes, but the potential for greatness too!

Yeah...I get it, but you are forgetting one problem...

We're going to be IN the Doom, and you all remember how terrifying it was to navigate, with Viserys,

We might be getting out when its still exploding!!

I don't actually, I am pretty new on SV so forgive my ignorance. The way you're describing it sounds like it lead to "happy landings" of the Kenobi persuasion though, terrifying can be exciting too, so not necessarily a negative. Will be sure to read this Viserys quest when I can! Sounds like y'all had a good time.

Well since we're talking...what character do you plan on making?

If you could build one with the choices the QM would have, or what direction would you want it to go.
Well, as a start, I don't think we should be married to our brother/sister's, as much as it would carry an advantage in terms of dragons, they're not necessarily the end all be all as Magoose said. This seems quite uncommon other than in the Valyrian faith, which will probably become irrelevant in the future, as Jaime and Cersei did a lot of things to be secret and the lords that did find out did not react positively. I'd like them to be a him as well, but that is more of a personal preference. The rest largely depends on the mechanics of the quest I suppose, which I am not too familiar with, there seems to be dice involved, so there are probably stats. As for their personality, we probably should pick a driven and ambitious person, if it is someone who is proud of their legacy.

Of course...We'll try to marry distant relations are more in name of the game, namely cousins.

My Charecter plan is essentially one of the Last true Dragon Mage, To Figure out the Magic system without dyingm but with a warrior bend so as to survive the chaos that follows.

The Faceless men, thought you died and you would like to keep it that way.

Don't care about Gender and such as long as the character is slowly going mad and archives catharsis after losing everything.

Really liked your ideia! The Higher Mysteries have never been really explained in depth in ASOIAF, and the magic of Valyria has all but died out at that point, it sounds pretty limited too, which has its own appeal because of power creep. Having Faceless Men as enemies sound dangerous and I like it, unreliable narrators are great too, one of the reasons I like the CoC role-playing game.

Ah, I shall explain the stats so things can be a little clearer.

There are Several Stats and extra things to give modifiers. I will show an empty character sheet to explain them all in detail.

Name: Your name, something that is important to you, and the rest of the world.

Alias: A name that you wish to use... an identidy so to speak to keep yourself safe.

Religion: The Faith you practice, which can carry advantages, and disadvantages.

Age: Your age. Pretty self explanitory, though the younger you are, the more likely you are to heal from injuries, but also the less starting stat points you get.

Skills:

Fighting Ability: Your ability to fight with weapons and armor.

Dragon Knowledge: Your ability to fly, bond and hatch dragons. Note, even if you are utterly incompetent at Dragon knowledge, it does not mean you are barred from trying, it's just more difficult.

Diplomat: Talking with words, and getting your way out no violently.

Command: Your ability to lead troops.

Stewardship: Your ability to manage coin, strike deals in trades, and just manage money and property more effectively.

Schemer: Your ability to lie, manipulate, and blackmail people into doing your bidding. Also how good you are at assassinating people by other means then combat.

These Skills are based on a few levels:

Incompetent: You are utterly terrible at this skill and only know about it from just hearing about it. (a -30 to the rolls on this skill)

Competent: You are a passable figure, able to do such tasks without making a fool of yourself. (no roll bonus to the skill)

Skilled: You are not an expert on the subject, but your knowledge of the subject is better than most people. (+10 to the roll of the skill)

Master: You are an expert on the subject and are able to do it with ease. (+30 to the roll of the skill)

Legendary: You are the best person in the world at this given subject (note, requires several crits in a given area, or being chosen at the cost of 10 points in character creation) (+50 to the rolls of that skill)
------------------------------------------------

Stress: A Hidden modifier that is added to by a set amount if you fail actions. It slowly builds over time, and once it reaches 100, will give you a small negative health trait. Doing things that lessen stress (like talking to people, drinking, brothels) will lower it, and if it reaches zero... well you'll know.

Magic: This is something you cannot start with. I'm sorry, but you have to earn that shit. You don't get to chose magic stuff in charecter creation. Sorry bout that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Traits: Your charecter's traits... something that defines your charecter. THey are good, they are bad, they are somewhere in between.

They define you and grant bonuses or debuffs because of that.
--------------------------------
Items: Things that hellp you... like your money, and your shit.

I really want to double down on the magical sphere, asoiaf magic is underrated and I want to get as much magical knowledge as possible. The Targaryens were completely ignorant of past magical knowledge and it arguably led to their downfall. I don't want to repeat that mistake.

Look at the info post i gave...

You won't be able to access Magic from the beginning. You have to learn from others.

But again, it's not impossible.

No problem if we have to learn from others, being Sorceror Supreme won't be easy, kek. Are people bothered about sister-brother incest I really want to keep the monopoly on dragons and that may be the only way of course if there are tons of Valyrian's running around we don't even need to think about incest.

The thing about the brothe sister incest is simple...

There are certian genes only high valyrians have.

And the number of high valyrians goes down the further down the timeline you go. Just saying.
