I was kinda iffy on Meng Dan initially but I quite liked him here. I'm hoping to see more of his capabilities in the coming chapters.

I faintly remembered, but didn't want to type it out. They are pretty close to their spirit ancestors, though, so I think my point stands - learning about the land might offer us more insight than usual in their case.

To people complaining about lack of tension: this is what it's like to be overleveled.
Following the map over the Sect grounds with Renxiang and the team is not a tense danger-filled adventure, nor is it an intensely personal meditation. It's a test of logistics and interpersonal fluidity; while I personally believe it could stand to have more observations on individual personalities and how they interact, the adventure tension is not there for a reason.

Sounds like Royal Road edition expansion space TBH, since you could fit a lot more content in without changing what actually happens there.
Well, we're still small fish tbh... But yeah, I agree. Tension here didnt seem like the point of the exercise, and could potentially be a distraction.
I did like the way LQ now actually has positive social interactions and rep and can now talk to people for info. That was a nice development and payoff for all the work we've done there.
I feel like in recent chapters there's been continued emphasis on previous contact between our people and the Ice Witches. Their history as Mountain Tribes and Meng Dan's discoveries about old connections to the Weilu didn't mention who they were as much as who they were with. We chose to discuss Old Tribes with Meng Dan against asking about how the Weilu relations with their neighbors, but ended up talking about Weilu relations anyway because Yrs wants us to be curious about something. Yrs has given more emphasis to the Ice Witches relationship with Emerald Seas than the Ice Witches themselves, which makes me wonder if he doesn't have something important he wants to share that's more relevant than hints of their philosophy and way of life. It's a choice between slightly more insight into their culture or more context to a mystery which we've been hinted to and encouraged to explore.

On first reading, asking about the Ice Lands seems more reasonable.
But therein is the problem, it is the SAFE option, like reading an encyclopedia in the public library.
All divinations point to there being something of value here, and I'm willing to gamble on there being a hidden gold nugget in the sword's memories. To continue with the previous metaphor, it would be like checking old dubious booksellers trying to find ancient documents with information that never made it into official history.
It's a good time to give that old Ling Qi luck a dice roll

Well that was a fun update! We got to see a bit more about how we will interact during the route to the meeting point and the roles that we will be engaging in.
