Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

I cannot be bothered to find the quote, but the Meng dislike us because we're friends with the Bai. We improved our relationship with them from -2 to -1 during our presentation for the court.

So it feels likely she's here to get a more detailed impression of where we stand. She might also have information or have ideas/suggestions about the coming expedition.

Don't have a lot of time, so some brief thoughts/observations on Meng Diu. At court she didn't seem that hostile to us, despite our fairly poor standing with the Meng. It's entirely possible this was due to the fact she's an Indigo cultivator and has great Poise.

However, it might be that applying the platonic ideal of Meng-ness to Meng Diu simply doesn't make much sense. The stereotypical Meng is, well, kind of like a Bai-lite. Isolationist, traditional, elitist, and disdainful of younger clans/establishments. Meng Diu specifically has an ambassadorial role to the provincial court, so we could assume she's somewhat more sociable with outsiders than the norm. It's literally her job. Her being a bit less reflexively critical of things her kin normally would be isn't an unreasonable assumption to make, though also isn't confirmed.

Basically, this lady could be relatively friendly for a Meng. She's also got decent clout in the clan between her cultivation and relations, so it's a good opportunity for us. It also does mean, however, that this could be a personal project of hers rather than something directed by/for her clan as a whole, per se. She has the leeway to look into things on her own initiative.

[X] Wait, and let the performance play out first. It may improve her disposition.

We should probably face the music directly, fleeing and trying to leave it to bao is a poor idea allaround...
The question is do we go now, or wait until after the event? I'd say Business before pleasure. Even if it goes poorly we'll still have Hanyi's song to raise or morale afterward.

will we get a star Stone fragment
in the End of this turn as reward ?

Heh. Just had a thought.

How likely is it Bao Qian recognizes that jade his cousin asked for on Meizen? I forget what exactly Bao Qingling made for her, some kind of jewelry? Funny if Bao Qian spots it and connects the dots on the girls' date tho.

Ok, I see the writing on the wall... but can we make an effort to keep her presence secret? Please? Because it looks like she's gone to some lengths to conceal herself and being too indiscreet here might annoy her.

I don't think the conversation will take more than a few minutes so I'm not seeing Hanyi being neglected here. And Meng Diu has traveled all the way from Xiangmen to the Sect at great expense, presumably in part to speak to us. She won't just up and leave at being made to listen to a performance.
Uh...political discussions tend to verge on the half hour+ span, to a large chunk owing to the dancing around trying not to cause offense.

Discreet =/= secret
Her positioning is deliberately ambiguous whether she's just a fan of this type of music(note the Meng's origin story, they have reason to particularly favor checking out talents in this genre), whether she's here to touch base with Ling Qi politically, or whether its a public statement that "we are considering our options".
