Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

One other thing i think is worth looking at in the update is that while, yes, Ling Qi successfully made her position on romance clear, she hasn't shoved the issue completely out of mind. She's talking to friends about it, which is interesting. Not in the sense that she's toying with changing her mind on any level, she isn't, but that she seems as though she will be moving forwards while at least attempting to have an awareness of Xuan Shi's feelings, while also not running away screaming for the hills. It's nice progress.

And then there's this line she admitted to Xuan Shi. It's easy for us to forget the whole of Ling Qi's experiences, because she doesn't dwell on most of them. We need to extrapolate from what we know to understand the full meaning of this line.

There was the creep client of Qingge's the night before Ling Qi ran away, yes, but then she proceeded to live on the streets on her own from the age of 10 to 14. It's basically certain she had to run from cat-calls, threats, advances, offers, and even being chased more than once. She did dress as a boy to try to escape that kind of attention, but, well, frankly that isn't as effective a shield as she probably thinks it is. There's a decent chance she thought her disguise was seen through on several occasions where it wasn't; her would-be assailants just weren't picky.
I would also add to this that her introduction to immortal 'romance' was creepy stalker Huang and her introduction to arranged marriages was the trainwreck that was the Xiulan and Fan Yu situation.

[X] Hold off, Let Su Ling settle into the Inner Sect for longer before springing new social groups on her.

I don't feel comfortable excluding our friends from this group. It's an invitation, Su Ling can say no, but I just want to let her know that the door's open

Personally I'd advise her to pick up a few social arts first, or she's going in the deep end with no floaties.
Moons know we wish someone told us that we'd need them before we flailed around like a landed fish.

I think it's mostly because we know what our friend is like and kicking down her front door and going "SU LING! Let's go to a sparring party with a whole bunch of Nobles you have never met!" is just going to result in disgruntled fox noises.
That would actually make for a fun scene. Definitely worth voting for

Really though I think the talk of babysitting and the implication that Su Ling is incapable of making up her own mind (we're inviting her, not forcing her) is pretty uncharitable. Especially after that grand moment at the end of the mission where LQ rejected the nightmarish whispers and her own sometimes controlling nature to trust in the agency of her companions. To go from that to the idea that Su Ling can't say no to her and is unable to talk to/work with nobles, when that's going to be a major part of her duties in the war effort, is just jarring.

Anyone who goes Green is going to have a noble title, it depend's on where they end up since the land is big we're most likely going to be on the very edge of the border neighboring the cloud barb's.

Correction: anyone who reaches Green or Bronze before 17 gets the Baron/Baroness title.

If you get there later you don't get the title.

Yeah, honestly the impression I get of the whole situation is less about getting to Green and more about having good chances of making Cyan so let's give them resources.

Why does a cultivator use a stencil? You would think with superior memory and dexterity such mortal tools would no longer be relevant.

Couple possible reasons. Maybe it sets the pattern in the physical so Shi can focus on the metaphysical. Maybe its magically significant/beneficial to have the owner of the home "help" and holding the stencil was the best way. Maybe it's not needed at all and Shi was manufacturing proximity.

Probably not that last one.

For a lot of nobles social is going to be their primary skillset and they'll maybe just have one or two combat arts on the side for when they need to be seen exercising military prowess.

Doubt.

This is a deathworld where status is based off of personal cultivation or generally capacity for violence.

While they're certainly people with social primary builds, those people will mostly be battlefield commanders, spiritualists, or intrigue specialists.

Everyone has a combat toolkit because everyone needs one. Everyone has a social toolkit becayse everybody needs one.

Seem's like an even worse GF group sparring session to me, just not convinced it'll be good to pair them together so soon and expect them to be instant friends.

It lacks the minefield that is the Jian-Xiulan-Yu triangle and its not dominated by a single in group. It's way more approachable.

Right now I think that the sect might try and use the war to bring more outer sect disciplines in. Use one disruption to deal with their other disruption
Maybe, but it'd be for needed niche filling, not strength. It was Ling with her Divination that got in, not Gan with his superior cultivation. I'd expect further wild card promotions to follow that rough pattern unless theres some real above and beyond participation.

Honestly, I feel that if we ever got to do adventures with the gang, then Su Ling would probably fit well there. Xuan Shi, Shen Hu, Su Ling, maybe Yu Nuan... that could be great!

I love this squad, both as a social group and as a team, though it does hurt for dps from Xiulan being on the wrong side of the continent.

Another thing to consider re: inviting Su Ling is that it's kinda slapping Wang Chao in the face (the social face, not his physical face). I mean, our last encounter was us asking him to help us organize a gathering, with us specifically asking him to go invite people while Ling Qi handled background paperwork with the Sect.

Eh, the vote text explicitly says that inviting a few close friends is fine.

I read the situation as "this one has good chances to make Cyan, let's make sure they are invested in the current system and not in bringing it down".

We have seen that people with High Talent get Cultivation Arts via Spirit Patrons to advance.

They probably also need more Barons then restricting it to just Cyans would give.

You do automatically become a Baron on getting to Cyan regardless of age, right? I imagine it's unlikely for someone to fall through the cracks like that but they almost certainly don't want Cyans running around without any investment in the system.

"Come on Su Ling, we will be in and out. 20 minute adventure."
