Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Well we now know what we are writting in our next letter to Gu Xiulan. Why did she have to go she is our only friend that this would make sense to talk to about!

LQ: Foot, meet mouth

In my experience, avoiding awkward conversations doesn't solve everything. I'm gonna have some serious second-hand embarrassment from the second option, but in the long term I think it's the healthier one.

The ravenous maw of the Cooldown Arc can never be satiated but must endlessly be fed

The choice is so obvious it kind of feels like a trap.

That aside. Xuan Shi is... actually the first potential suitor I have seen that I actually genuinely like and would like to see a lot more of.

This is of course pretalted by the fact that Ling Qi is currently being ravaged by a heart demon because she cant keep all her social obligations and cultivation demands in the air at the same time. Adding a boyfriend to that mess will likely result in some hurt feelings.

Also Ling Qi apparently feels safe around him. Which is a HUGE plus.

LQ will never feel safe anymore with him until they talk about it. "Thanks", mom, nice job.

I generally think of romantic plotlines as somewhere between boring, annoying, and nonsensical, so my opinion isn't very helpful on the topic. Especially when they interfere with more interesting plotlines. For what I do have...

I really do not feel this is the time to be having yet another major step on LQs issues. That's the kind of thing you should take much more slowly, rather than going full steps every time an option for it is presented.

On the other hand, flinching back and suppressing it is different from just putting it off and calming down.

And then there's the added factor of XS's new spirit, and whether it's Kongyou or not... I have no idea.

I don't think leading him on is a concern. If he was being overt, or she was deliberately encouraging or taking advantage of it, that might be an issue. Moreover, going to deal with something like that right after finding out, especially while having issues about it, is very iffy. She should be taking time to think about it and how to respond. It is just not urgent. Particularly as he hasn't mentioned it himself.

But there's a difference between "don't act on it immediately" and "try to forget it ever happened", so I don't like the other option either...

I do not like this vote.

This is something that needs to be addressed, both for Xuan Shi, but mostly for Ling Qi. She has internalized and extremely unhealthy mindset regarding relationships between men and women.

If Ling Qi never wants to have a relationship of such a nature that's fine, but that should be a choice by her, not made for her by circumstance and past trauma. If we don't choose to address the issue, Ling Qi never will.

The other option makes it very clear that it's Ling Qi trying to ignore the problem, not her trying to understand her own feelings, work through them and then make the best choice for herself.

Stopping here would just be weird for the narritive.

I don't want to husbando Xuan Shi, but I also don't want to torpedo the friendship via LakeGate 2: LakeGater. It would be one thing if the option for holding off were about pulling back to think about it, but:
[] Leave the subject alone, there is no point in making things awkward. Try to continue as before.
The plain reading of how this is written is "ignore the subject and hope it goes away," which is a Bad Idea.

Honest communication can mean talking about something that frightens and confuses you. Qi should not drape a sheet over the elephant in the room and hope it goes away, this is something she should confront and he's a safe person to do it with. I also don't really want to make Shi silently pine for months until he gives up again, he deserves better. Open a dialogue.
