Honestly, I disagree with your reasoning. Whenever we open meridians, the specific desired meridian is what is opened. This is both how meridians have opened in this story when we see the info on the rolls, and it makes sense in-story to have specific meridians in mind when we are opening them. I don't think yrs would be reneging on his promise - he's given us the opportunity to know which meridians we wish to open before we open the meridians by giving us the choice to select the archive process before we open meridians. I think its fair for us to cooperate by selecting the option to explore the archive and know which meridians we want to open before we actually open our meridians.
That said, I wasn't there for the negotiation so I could be mischaracterizing it. It just doesn't make sense to me narratively not knowing which meridians we're opening while we're opening them..

Additionally, I like the continuity of the music theme narratively.
The entire premise, start to finish, of the ask to yrsillar was "Hey we wanna get an art and open meridians, but choosing which ones before we have the deets on the art is dumb. Can we pick em after the archive?" and Yrsillar was like "Yeah, that makes sense, sure."
I'm a huge proponent for players meeting him halfway, but this isn't one of the situations where it makes sense. The framing of this entire vote was at his discretion, which means the issue is still totally in his court. Merely offering the
opportunity to not have backwards ordering isn't what was asked for or agreed to- this was entirely working around awkward compromises inherent to the mechanics.
As for meridian narrative, meh. In terms of the actual words on the screen, it's actually pretty frequent that the specific meridians being opened aren't, well, specified. I'm pretty sure we've opened meridians in a turn without the any mention working it's way into updates, before. On top of that, that meridians are even I tended to bundle into the base cultivation vote is an
assumption. We don't know that's the case, and it doesn't need to be the case; Ling Qi shoves opening those things I to all kinds of strange moments.
Basically, people should vote for whatever they want, but not out of worry for our meridians. Because that's silly. Yrs isn't out to make our lives difficult, and accomodating the same approach doesn't make his any harder either.
Edit: nevermind, apparently I was right about the meridians like 8 hours before I posted this. Joy of working.
