A chat about music with rocks in!
Ling Qi being straight was hard baked into the setting and not up to a vote. We flubbed roles on how to handle it. It was never going to end non-awkwardly but it could have been less awkward.

It's funny, the whole Lake situation ended up being some sort of smooth romantic gesture in Bai culture as it aped the original White Serpent Queen and Fisher courtship. Too bad we're just some nerd street rat with trust issues and had no idea about any of that.

Teens!
Cui: "I worked so hard to set it up and everyone got mad. Stupid mouse-girl."

Mmm, thinking about structure here, I kinda feel like the Cai and Wang options will work much better moving in to the next arc, while HDW/PLR work best following on immediately from the current one. PLR/Meizhen particularly feels like it would be kinda awkward later on?

I'd be inclined to go, I think:
  1. PLR/Meizhen
  2. HDW/music gang
  3. Training with dudes/meet Wang
  4. Cai party
[X] Phantasmagoria of Lunar Revelry (Bai Meizhen, Sixiang, Silent Stones)

Wait so to clarify we're just deciding ordering of training here right since this is our big training montage. So what does the order really matter? How does picking one first affect another or effect itself.

From Discord:
Vanguard_D: Oh, ok. Does the events change depending on order?
Yrsillar: yeah probably be some effect just from acknowledging previous events

I just picked the first event to go to based on narrative: it makes intuitive sense to me to segue from talking about music with Bao Qian and singing with Hanyi to meeting up with Yu Nuan and Ruan Shen.

Honestly, I disagree with your reasoning. Whenever we open meridians, the specific desired meridian is what is opened. This is both how meridians have opened in this story when we see the info on the rolls, and it makes sense in-story to have specific meridians in mind when we are opening them. I don't think yrs would be reneging on his promise - he's given us the opportunity to know which meridians we wish to open before we open the meridians by giving us the choice to select the archive process before we open meridians. I think its fair for us to cooperate by selecting the option to explore the archive and know which meridians we want to open before we actually open our meridians.

That said, I wasn't there for the negotiation so I could be mischaracterizing it. It just doesn't make sense to me narratively not knowing which meridians we're opening while we're opening them..

Additionally, I like the continuity of the music theme narratively.
The entire premise, start to finish, of the ask to yrsillar was "Hey we wanna get an art and open meridians, but choosing which ones before we have the deets on the art is dumb. Can we pick em after the archive?" and Yrsillar was like "Yeah, that makes sense, sure."

I'm a huge proponent for players meeting him halfway, but this isn't one of the situations where it makes sense. The framing of this entire vote was at his discretion, which means the issue is still totally in his court. Merely offering the opportunity to not have backwards ordering isn't what was asked for or agreed to- this was entirely working around awkward compromises inherent to the mechanics.

As for meridian narrative, meh. In terms of the actual words on the screen, it's actually pretty frequent that the specific meridians being opened aren't, well, specified. I'm pretty sure we've opened meridians in a turn without the any mention working it's way into updates, before. On top of that, that meridians are even I tended to bundle into the base cultivation vote is an assumption. We don't know that's the case, and it doesn't need to be the case; Ling Qi shoves opening those things I to all kinds of strange moments.

Basically, people should vote for whatever they want, but not out of worry for our meridians. Because that's silly. Yrs isn't out to make our lives difficult, and accomodating the same approach doesn't make his any harder either.

Edit: nevermind, apparently I was right about the meridians like 8 hours before I posted this. Joy of working.

Mmmh, I'd agree, but I'd say it also makes perfect sense for Ling Qi to 'take a break' before that. She has just been exhausting herself, so getting back energy with some dancing with Meizhen under the moonlight first make sense, then going to music club, and then preparing for the expeditions by networking with the various people she has to network with.

Has no one mentioned that the Bao we're (kinda) seeing just dropped a bombshell regarding the Bao she's seeing? If it has, ignore this post.

Like I assume that that made it into the discourse already, but if we're gonna mention logical progression, like, look, there's that seafoam jade wonder what it's for.

Bai got herself a gf! Go and be goofy about it while also trying not to spill the beans.

I mean I think centering herself before going to see Meizhen about it because she's kind of weird about relationships is equally valid, and she and Meizhen have a history it just better be part of the conversation, c'mon guys.

He doesn't really seem that interested in Ling Qi to be honest, and she doesn't seem to be that interested in him either. Their relationship isn't going to go anywhere.

TBH Ling Qi needs someone who she can actually relate to and feel comfortable around. Despite his temper and his current alliance with Sun, Ji Rong would probably be a decent choice. I just feel like the gap between the cultivator world and the mortal world is too great. It's like trying to become friends with the children of billionaires, except the billionaires grew up with both money as well as superpowers and regular interaction with the supernatural.

You do realize that all we need from our marriage (emotionally) is an amicable working relationship along with a generally chill attitude towards our romantic partner, yes?

I would like to put our new music vocabulary into practice as well as get the archive vote out of the way.
