Adding these to my vote. I'd prefer giving Biyu stuff she can have fun with and run around in, rather than staying cooped up in a room reading, or forced to stay in one place practicing music.

She's a physical and very playful girl who likes to run about. Let's give her a chance to indulge and have fun her way while she's still young, since eventually, she'll have less opportunities to do so as she grows up.

One thing I'd like: If we give her some sort of toy or machine that requires of formmations, I want LQ to make it herself. We gave Xiulan a cool present in which we invested something that was very much ours, our voice.

LQ's presents to her beloved ones should always be this kind of important. So, maybe Ling Qi could get back to formation-work, if only to make some simple toy/tool thing for Biyu?

Thunder beasts appeared as great canines the size of horses made from dark cloud rather than flesh, lightning crackled beneath their cloud flesh like veins and bones, giving them shape, and their barks were the boom of thunder.
Big pupper!
Then he was gone, taking the pack and the herd of lesser spirits with him in a single flash of lightning and they were left floating in the clouds, kept company only by the massive Thunder Beast. It let out a cheerful wuff that sounded like a gale wind and regarded them with panting dog-like grin.

"...That's what people mean when they talk about your luck huh," Yu Nuan said dully.

"Yes," Ling Qi admitted uncomfortably.

"Well I guess I can't complain," the older girl huffed, reaching out tentatively to scratch the panting beast under the chin. "...Thanks."
"Any time, Do you want to do the binding here, or down on the ground?" Ling Qi asked.

"Best get it done now, before the world dec

...think we could have her show up for this I wonder?

Like I really think the option to give her a book to learn legends and animals is important. But again, active girl. I kinda want her to be the type who doesn't just study but does. And we can very easily facilitate that. With the war it's slightly more dangerous but we just don't have to go far.

[X] Guard Dog

I would prefer the fox since general sneakiness and I imagine Biyu would never tire playin with one, but Doggo is a good runner up cause Doggo.
I wonder If Su Ling would think that's racist or speciest... hmm I can imagine both not liking each other kekeke.

-Edit- Hmmm... Cogsprocket is right she's a little spitfire, that being said I'm not retracting the flute since I like the idea of them all playing together. Plus she's turning 5 her mother and magic sissy love playin the flute it just meshes very well, I doubt another instrument of an sort would really hold that kinda weight for any of them. Could be wrong but that's my 2 cents.

On reviewing what kinda toy Biyu would like currently dancing shoes seems the way to go. Think we could get a formation that slightly increases her dancing ability and not fall all the time?

If we're not encouraging our sister to be a little hellion, what are we even doing?

EDIT: Adding an extra vote here because shoes are a lame gift to give a child.

So everyone seems to be going the encyclopedia route, but I'd like to make the Case for Why in fact Flute/Drum/Art Set/or Dancing Shoes.

This is a vote to help shape Biyus direction in life. Whatever we give her will end up shaping her and her interests a lot. Right now she is rambunctious girl who loves the outdoors and animals. And thats great. The thing that adding music/art/dance into her life adds is a Passion for Expression. We the character can express ourselves beautifully through music, and I love that about Ling Qi. The Song she gave Xiulan was quite frankly beautiful and inspiring.

Biyu is going to be a very different character from Ling Qi. He mom is older and has a lot of support. She wont face poverty. She will have a carefree childhood of luxury. And thats all great. But I would like for her and ideally all of the future Ling Clan to be Creators. I want them to make beautiful music, dance enchanting dances, paint mesmerizing paintings, write beautiful poetry and so on. I think this type of thing is wonderful and I want to share it with our little sister.

Right now the encyclopedia is winning, and that likely will make Biyu a little scholar, if a rambunctious one. I'm quite okay with that, but I would prefer to have a little sister who creates music with us or dances to our music or creates paintings. I want her to enjoy Expression the same way we do. I want her to be able to create something like the gift we made for Xiulan.

After some thought, I think I prefer Biyu expressing her interest in animals and the outdoors through Expression, as @GlassMask described, rather than as a scholar, although both are reasonable options. I like the idea of the Ling family being a family focused on the fine arts, although I wouldn't want to push Biyu in a direction she's not interested in. The Arts and Crafts set is appealing for its potential relation to Biyu's current interests while being a separate activity that can stand on its own. The hands-on creativity of it also seems like something Biyu would enjoy. I'm not comfortable with a music option as it seems too close to us pushing our own interests onto her. A kite or toy is a valid option to encourage physical activity, but it doesn't add much depth to Biyu's character. The dancing shoes are a decent option that I don't have any arguments against, but I personally just prefer the idea of Biyu being a painter rather than a dancer.

[X] Dancing Shoes

I really like the idea of us being the musician of the house and biyu being the dancer. Its very quaint and could be helpful in having an expression oriented house that is varied in its artforms. Particularly i would like it if biyu became the sun cultivator to our moon. But still artistic. I want the qi house to be the house of the sun and the moon and for it to be known for art, family and loyalty.

But thats just me. Lol

Mostly because giving drums to a five year old will not be conducive for her moms meditation.

Voting for a thing that meshes well with music arts long term, while bowing to her inclinations.
