Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
So seeing as most mechanical arms here likely make use of the Spirit being around he is unlikely to fix this until Iron where the cultivator gets can reshape their body iirc.
if his meridians were destroyed, it may well be impossible to fix, regardless of how high he cultivates.

The point about Iron is that it allows for options like say a physical shape that makes it largely irrelevant that you've lost an arm the obvious example being a swarm of eyes in shadows that Jiao is rolling with.

That didn't bode well, Ling Qi thought darkly to herself as she passed them by and began to ascend the shallow stairs to stand beside Instructor Zhou. She dipped her head respectfully to the older man, even as she resolved to work twice as hard as before, to make sure she was ready when the time came. So focused was she that she almost startled when she heard the instructor's voice, pitched low so as not to carry down from the stage.

"Retreat is not always cowardice, but can become it if relied on over much. Think hard on what stands to be lost before choosing to cede ground," Ling Qi nodded rapidly, relief bleeding away some small part of the tension she felt. He didn't think her a coward for taking the pass or resent her for the decision.
I will remember you fondly Elder Zhou.

Out of all the Elders that we interacted with regularly during the first three months in the Inner Sect, you were probably my favorite. You trained Ling Qi hard and she profited immensely from your instruction. While Ling Qi seems not to be going down the physical route like it would seem you did, your training left an impact and respect for the more physically aspected of our peers.

Hopefully you died knowing that there was someone in the Sect who would one day be able to replace you as the indomitable wall of the South.

We can already craft puppets that could utilize techniques with fairly low Formations skill; I don't think it's too far off to suggest that any prosthetic he obtains will have artificial meridians tuned to his elements. It'd probably take an accessory talisman slot to use, and likely either a Green specialized in prosthetics or someone a realm or two higher to actually make, but it seems possible.

"Elder Zhou has been slain."

;-;

"Still, I remain confident that one day, I will see at least a few of you again. Perhaps then we may strike down barbarian scum together, as the fist of the Empire," the rough Instructor added sternly, but with satisfaction. "You are dismissed disciples. Good luck to you."

Poor Ling Qi, she'll never get to protect the empire together with him now.

On happier news Yanmei killing things and purifying the area just by standing there is pretty amazing. Xiulan has a long way to go to catch up, if she ever does.

Moon sempai's putting up a good face for a guy who just lost his arm. I do wonder what he was fighting at the mining town.

All in all this arc got quite intense the past few updates, it was a good read.

Yanmei is best big sister, LQ can only hope to follow in her footsteps. Sad to see moon senpai take so much damage too and for LQ to never get a chance to impress Zhou on the battlefield like she dreamed... Intense stuff, stakes've been raised.

[x] Churning (Gu Xiulan)
I love Su Ling but Gu Xiulan just feels most appropriate right now.

Clearly the proper vote after an amazing arc, such as this one, is:

[X] Ripples (Cai Renxiang)
[X] Shockwaves (Su Ling)
[X] Churning (Gu Xiulan)

To be honest, I just want more. I don't particularly care which one is chosen, as long as it keeps coming.

I take satisfaction in knowing that Ling Qi learned that lesson and made good use of it in the same post that he died in. She had a chance to retreat and denied in in favor of not risking losing people she cared for.

She hastily nodded, not trusting herself to respond without stuttering in an embarrassed fashion given her proximity to the man. No matter how harsh he was, the older man was very… distracting up close. As she stood and began moving toward the group of students who had reached this stage of cultivation he spoke again over his shoulder, already heading off to review another student. "Do not slow down. You are still far behind your peers."

It stung a bit, but she knew it was true. Gritting her teeth in determination, Ling Qi set herself to driving her body to exhaustion once again.
One of the more memorable statements by Elder Zhou, and words that will only grow more true the higher up the mountain that is cultivation Ling Qi climbs as her peers become scions of clans with generations of resources, and arts to support them.

[x] Churning (Gu Xiulan)

Because while the Su Ling interlude interesting the fact that she will remain in the Outer Sect for at least the remainder of the year makes me less interested, and well I've liked Xiulan more as a character tbh.

Remember, there's a major opening to Gnawing One Territory over on White Cloud Mountain, I'd be surprised if the Outer Sect didn't just have a Thunderdome from the residents there that Su Ling might have just played a key role in.
