Good thing I wasn't advocating for claws then!
If you look at the examples in my original post, guess what? None of the nail protector bullshit. It was a counterexample to a long series of contrived arguments against my original examples, not actually something I would suggest actually wearing.
In fairness, those kind of finger claws are the visual baseline I had in mind when Iwas imagining Li SUyin's gauntlet, except you know as a full articulated glove and made of black chitin and whatnot.
I reckon maybe rings, hooked onto chains, linked to a bracelet, and then charms or bells(or both) threaded on is what I imagined.Yeah I got that
Li Suyin went for less hand-jewellery and more full-on Sauron gauntlet, which is great! You go girl!
Her aesthetic is distinctly different from ours though, and people stuffing words into my mouth and pretending I would ever suggest that Li Qing would wear something so tacky and gold (ew sun metal get it away) is actively pissing me off.
Style, people! Get you some!

Glad to see a bit of discussion going. Abeologos is correct though, if you would like spiritual defense, please vote for either avoid or armor, so I don't have to guess.
Oh hey, just what I pictured.I am pretty sure Xeph meant jewelry that covers the back of the hand.
Like this:
or maybe this:

But they're specifically talking about if the 'tasteful hand jewelry' is from the Western Jungles, and how that might look to people.
It's the cultural origin that may be an issue.
