Taking the Mickey: A Save Disney Quest

[X] Plan Looking Ahead
-[X] Tomorrow's Tomorrowland

It would not do to leave this unfinished.

-[X] Wet and Mild

Even if we end up closing due to hurricanes (why would we still be open in the first place, that just endangers guests), this will be a nice option for shoring up in the future.

-[X] Finish the Rhine River Cruise

Maybe now, with people looking into this, we can get it done.

-[X] The Made Men

If we don't save them quickly, it will come back to bite us.

-[X] The Don

Don Bluth is a master of 2D animation, even if it does take some time, so I'd like to see what he can do for the studio. Perhaps it'll be even better in conjunction with his studio.

-[X] Bringing Back the Magic

We need those lessons, especially if we're trying to convince audiences that yes, we will do our absolute utmost to live up to Walt's legacy, if our actions haven't said enough yet.

-[X] Continue Planning (Disney's Animated Adventure)

We're on a roll, why stop now?

-[X] Better Hurricane Proofing

This, in tandem with Wet and Mild, will be able to aid in improving the park's durability come the storms.

-[X] Imagineers for IPs

Bring Oswald home!

-[X] Personal Focus
--[X] Wet and Mild

Wet and Mild had the highest DC of all actions in this plan. I'd like to make it at least a little easier.

I took [ ] Plan Made Men Need No Vacation and changed two things
I'm placing this plan here for the opposition to glowing green.

I really want to inform the board that we will not reach one of our goals, but there is no support for that.

A statement from several government officials, an oddity, has further fueled speculation by announcing that they would be working closely with Disney to investigate what has been happening in EPCOT.

this is why I placed the personal focus on the Rhine cruiser

[X ] Plan Green Men Need No Vacation
-[X] Go Green (time to go greener than green baby) [Base action 1]
-[X] Power Play (whole industry finna go green) [Base action 2]
-[X] Personal focus: Rhine River Cruise (The government is watching!) [Corporate offices bonus action]
-[X] Improve the Shopping District (Since we've finished the monorail now and all...) [Base action 3]
-[X] Continue Planning (Disney's Animated Adventure) (Maek Hotel) [Reedy creek bonus action]
-[X] Finish the Rhine River Cruise (BUILD THIS DANGED THING) [Base action 4]
-[X] The Disney Touch (Improve our animated movies and staff relations) [Studios bonus action]
-[X] Tomorrow's Tomorrowland (Continue updating Tomorrowland) [Base action 5]
-[X] The Made Men (Keep most of the employees, keep Don Happy, make sure no one takes it first) [Base action 6]
-[X] A Day in the Movies (Begin planning a new park based on Warner movies) [Base action 7]

[X] Plan Random

-[X] Continue Planning (Disney's Animated Adventure) [Reedy Creek Bonus]
-[X] Personal Focus [Disney Company Offices Bonus]
--[X] Finish the Rhine River Cruise

This one does everything I want

[X] Plan Random

must take one of them either this turn or next. Universal receives favorable pricing from Disney power generation.

I completely missed that next turn thing. Great thinking, now we can know for sure if they join us or not.

I took the original Plan Made Men Need No Vacation draft before @WallFlower made a new plan with the same name and renamed it back to Nu-Cu-Lar.

I. WANT. A nuclear power plant :p

C'mon with the reedy creek bonus there's something like a 72% chance it'll be fiiine....

(Power Play has DC 30, we have +10 from Reedy Creek, so 80% chance it works)
(Go Glowing Green has DC 70, We have +10 from Reedy Creek, +15 from Personal Focus, 80% chance of +20 from Power Play)
(20% chance of effectively DC 45, 80% chance of effectively DC 25 = Effective DC 29 = 71% chance of success)

[x] Plan It's pronounced Nu-Cle-Ar, not Nu-Cu-Lar

I made no plan called 'Plan Made Men Need No Vacation' I changed the first word
Plan Green Men Need No Vacation

I wanted to keep part of the original plan-name in it because I felt it would be more respectful to make it extra clear that it was a derivative.

I should probably have been clearer about that. Maybe I should try the format; 'plan [original name]; [version]' next time

To be totally honest, long term I want Disney to support a plan to open a permanent nuclear waste storage facility. Once our power plant is built or even majorly in progress I think that would be an action we get.

I think nuclear power is underrated and want it to be part of this quest, supported by a large corporation that might see things change from how they developed IRL. Everyone else disagrees. Fair enough.

Plan Random allows us to decide next turn if we want either green or glowing green power.
We will have more information on the question if Universal agrees to the Power program.
If they do agree then our known chances of success are greater.
A proposition of nuclear power will get better if we know that the change of failure is lower.
Disneys core business is not power. If we want to risk it we need to make extra sure we know what we do.

Slight note here: Disney has, up to this point, rarely had to worry seriously about hurricanes. They usually don't make it far enough onto Florida's landmass to give a major threat to Disney World, and generally speaking, the worst effects are about in line with some of the bigger thunderstorms that Disney gets daily. The parks don't fully close then (well, the water parks do), just a few rides. In the mid 80's, it's basically unheard of for a hurricane to directly threaten Disney, with most storms that have actually made it to the resort being tropical storms at best. Not great, but not too bad to deal with. Hurricane David in '79 was basically the first time that Disney World had to deal with serious hurricane issues, and given that since then there's just been the occasional weak tropical storm pass, no one's that concerned. Well, okay, there's a certain group that you might end up talking to that would in fact be extremely concerned about how good your hurricane proofing is, but you'll have to guess on that one.

Also, just a quick reminder: Roy's bonus prevents the penalty from failure, but says nothing about the reward from success. Perhaps something to keep in mind.

If we build a nuclear power plant like I want, we will need to REALLY hurricane-proof the plant.

[X] Plan Looking Ahead

I refuse to vote for any plan that doesn't look to acquire Oswald this quarter. As I mentioned in my previous post, cartoons take time to make so we need the IP at the earliest convenience if we're going to finish by the last quarter of next year.

I mean, I'd prefer to back nuclear by making media with a pro nuclear stance and then maybe building a plant later on if we successfully influence past stuff like Chernobyl. As it is nobody in the story really wants nuclear and I just dont want to be threatened by the bad pr from upcoming disaster without some form of guarantee that our nuclear project will be the magic bullet against antinuclear hysteria.

Because frankly, I think there's not much we can do but use our media to really divert hysteria. Were a media Corp not a power company.

Oh, and if we MUST build nuclear I'd rather do it somewhere that doesn't face a hurricane every other year. Maybe a European reactor when we build a swiss mega park or something. Yknow, no tornadoes, no earthquakes, no hurricanes, good conditions.

Talking to Universal was pointless. Should've gone with one of the other CEO's or potential animator advisors.

The ship has sailed.
I'm quite happy with talking to Universal we got powerplay out of that one.
We can always strike IP deals at some later point in time, though I'm not really sure what the value is of an IP from 30 years ago. (for the big screen)
Aside from making w valuable adviser happy of course.
