@Gaz do we need to specify in these plans who we bring with us?

Also, I assume since some options are required for others to be taken we need to use Plan voting here?
You realize Superior Breeding will help us right now by reducing the fatigue of our cav as we chase him down so they are fresher and more able to fight if Zuo tries to break right away and if not then they recover faster so we likely are in better condition then the bandits and we are going to be facing the best of the bandit force most likely.
I think it will be helpful but not necessary. We have superior numbers, superior training and superior equipment and while less fatigue will help I don't see it as being necessary to win this battle. And in taking it we run the risk of not being able to get a significantly better Military reform at the Estate Turn.

Chase down and encircle the hideout, the Boar needs to feast!

[X] [Lieutenant] Spare the bandit lieutenant in exchange for guiding you to Zuo's hideout. You can decide exactly what to do with him later. Cannot be taken if you do not wish to hunt down their base.
[X] [Lair] You need to act swiftly in case Zuo Zizhangba moves on. Lead all your mounted soldiers to hunt down the enemy, whilst your infantry guard the baggage, supplies and prisoners.
[X] [Captives] Decide later, once you have rounded up their leader and others. Deal with all of them together, at once. Can only be taken if you decide to hunt down their lair.

Is there a reason we would not want Superior Breeding given that we are running elite cav as a force and Shu is at his best leading Cav in a charge? Reduce fatigue is going to be big for our main striking force.

For plans that plan to use more than 10 Renown, I think that those plans should go all in and use whatever Renown they have left to grab An Eye For Talent as well, as we want that reform as early as possible, as in the long run, it could give us a few more retainers for us to use, which is not a bad thing.

There's no reason not to want it but it's a question of priorities. It's a Tier 1 Reform so likely doesn't have a huge impact which means it's not critical to this battle so there's no downside to waiting until the Estate Turn when we can see what taking Military Research unlocks. Since Military Research itself costs 5 Renown, the Reforms it unlocks are probably more expensive hence banking 10 Renown so if it unlocks something better we can afford it.

There's also no reason for us not to want An Eye For Talent or Salvage or All That Glitters or any of these reforms. But that doesn't mean we should just grab them all now.

A tired force is a dead force, if we rush after Zuo and our cav is tired it increases the chance that he can break out and escape, if our cav is relatively fresh though then we hold the edge in any breakout attempt. Also I think we need to consider that capturing/killing Zuo and the remaining chiefs are going to gain us additional renown, so we will have more then just 5 saved.

Our cavalry aren't going to be any more tired than his and given he's unlikely to go to his hideout and flee right away (and leave his loot) there's very little chance of us not being able to catch him. And if we do get there and the Horses are tired (doubt it) we can just contain him until the Infantry arrives. Also, like I said before this is a Tier 1 reform so while Im sure it'll have an impact I don't think it'll be a massive gamechanger, it's more likely to be a first step, a small improvement.

That's possible but I don't think it will, I think the 20 Renown from winning the battle will be all that we get and capturing Zuo won't affect how most people view the battle, which is what Renown represents.

Routing a large bandit force doesn't have the same ring as demolishing the bandit force and capturing their leadership. Remember no one has heard of this clash yet, and we have a lot to gain for being the first to successfully crack down a 5000 strong rebellion.

Why would we not gain additional renown from killing/capturing the major bandit boss of this region? And if we are tired then it is easier for Zuo to stage a breakout and once we lose track we will not have any leads on where to track him down. Plus with taking less fatigue we can push ourselves harder on the pursuit.

@Gaz would capturing/killing Zuo and any remaining bandit chiefs at the hideout give us renown?

They haven't heard of it yet, but the 20 Renown we gained is the representation of the Fame we gained from this battle so it's essentially done. We crushed this bandit force and will gain the fame from that. Also, I don't agree with the implication that we won't capture him without that reform.

@Gaz How high is the fatigue of our troops? I think that would be kind of important to know and starting at what point will the troops suffer repercusions.

The lower Fatigue is, the worse a unit will fight, as exhaustion kicks in and they find it more and more difficult to effectively perform.
Just like Morale, Fatigue ranges between 0-100. 0 represents a fully rested, fresh and ready unit, with no tiredness. 100 Fatigue on the other hand indicates soldiers that are so exhausted and drained they can barely stand, never mind fight.
I think the text is contradicting itself. I am quite sure you meant higher instead of lower.

I have to agree with this point.

Capturing Zuo will not be seen as a separate event from an outsiders perspective. As far as they would be concerned, the bandit army was defeated and the leaders were captured in a single day.

They won't care that one happened at noon and the other in the evening. To them it will sound like a single event.

This is something we should keep in mind going forward. Renown is tied to stories, so the greater the overall story, the more renown there is. As such an entire campaign would grant a single pot of renown, not each battle in it. That's because the story is of how the campaign brought some faction or Notable figure to their knees or reversed the prospects of a growing power, etc. No single battle or clash in the campaign will have the same effect, because the campaign as a whole is what mattered.

On a social scene, its like Zhuge Liang vs the Wu officials. The event was notable for him out debating all of them, not for each individual official he defeated. Stuff like that.

At least, that is how I see renown working. @Gaz Am I coming at this from the right direction?

@Gaz you missed a question.

There are quite a few people voting without Plans but since some options are necessary for other ones, and some options lock out others so I assume we're meant to be using Plans? Just want to check though, before too many people vote.

It says in the update to vote in plan format, so I'll only count votes in plans.

Also I did edit in the Fatigue numbers for your troops as requested earlier. Fatigue is currently dropping whilst your men rest.
