Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[X][FVM] Though a path might be hard and lonely, it has worth if you can present something of beauty to those you care for at the end.

[X][FSS] There are endings and Endings, only the very last one is final. Just as winter ends in spring, small endings are new beginnings.

A substantially better implementation of voting to slot Insights into our Domain, most excellent.

A paucity of Arts to slot to meet the minimum requirements for Green 3 has me a little leery of not slotting both of these.

Conversely, CDE is reasonably good, and we're probably going to be exploring with it next turn, making it obtain narrative relevance - which is hugely important for Art slotting, the act of actually using an Art and exploring how it can be used. CDE is also good in that it definitely has Successors.

The flipside of that is probably further incorporating Perception effects into our Domain. So, /shrug.

I really hope we can fit IMH in during Green Three.

Ok, so: [][FVM] Even if hardship and tribulation litter your path, it has worth if you have somewhere to return at the end. superficially looks like the "Home" option. I'm going to suggest, however, that actually the alternative better fits Ling Qi's ideas of home.

The key thing here is that for Ling Qi home is not a physical place. Her conceptualisation of it, as we may recall from her breakthrough, is home in friendship. In having friends you can rely on, and sharing joy and music with them. Finding safety in mutual support. Looking at things through this lens, FVM#1, is really the more Ling Qi "Home" option.

By being a more dynamic and ephemeral thing rather than a stable physical place, it also combos better with the FSS "endings and new beginnings" which seems to be very popular.
Er, no?

Remember, the Home Domain is applied to Ling Qi; that is to say, Ling Qi is the Home that is being referred to here.

When the insight says "someplace to return to," what it means is Ling Qi is the place being returned to.

It forces a degree of stable locality because slotting it in means Ling Qi is compelled to be there for her family in their time of need, and suffers if they can't return to her if she's elsewhere.

Again, the Domain isn't an external physical thing, it's a metaphorical representation of the cultivator.

(Though I agree both FVM insights are severely warped towards Ling Qi's longing for the concept she calls Home.)

I mean, the other thing about TRF is that we actually have narrative setup to *not* slot it, in terms of all the discussion about how it's really good but kind of an awkward fit for us. Moreover, we have HDW now in Foundation, which looks a lot better in terms of our social/support themes.

I actually feel this FSS option is far more Ling Qi than the other one. 'New beginnings' gives me the impression that LQ is more voluntarily letting go of the ones she loves, even if she can look on the bright side. Rather instead this one gives me the impression that she would cherish what time she has and the memories of that time.

FVM both insights seem good to me.

'A Home' is the basis of LQ's Domain, yes.

However, the Insight is about LQ, specifically, having a person/people/places/things to return to at the end of her journeys/trials/battles - that those journeys/battles/trials are worth it so long as those people/places/things remain.

It's very straightforward - "...if you have somewhere to return at the end."

"... you ..." Not 'they', 'you'.

It doesn't mention a single thing about other people returning to LQ after their trials.

[X][FVM] Though it is beautiful, the travelers song is not Ling Qi's(No slot)

Approval voting on the FVM for me - I like option 1 or no slot option for it. I don't want to tie ourselves too closely to one idea of a home, or what home exactly means to us yet, and both of those leave us room to better refine that understanding for now, while the option 1 suggests we cling tighter to the home we have now as we currently see it.

The FSS insight option 2 is in line with this as well. It ties an optimistic view to a dark but very real and inevitable part of life, is in line with other themes and concepts in other parts of our build (mechanics) and that other important people in our life embody or reinforce in themselves (narrative and character focus and development).

Plus the contrast with zequing's view will be interesting (hopefully she doesn't take it too badly and can instead be intrigued or something and not angry that we have sort of rejected her answer/essence...)

FVM#1 and FSS#2 offer a number of good narrative opportunities here. As many have noted, they build off our recent trials and music very nicely. FSS#2 also ties in Zhengui very nicely as well, which is cool. They also both tie in very well with Renxiang, and Ling Qi being more active. They point towards Ling Qi having more active goals, and appreciating the idea of creating beautiful things and appreciating how destruction may be useful and necessary to create new things (like Renxiang's new world order).

(they would also fit remarkably well with us building our estate on top of Zhengui and roaming around our lands between the seasons like the Guo)

Every insight that Ling Qi slots inherently restricts her like AM's insight prevents self-deception. So I'll do some speculating on how these insights might restrict Ling Qi. Keep in mind that Ling Qi can't deceive herself so for example she would have to sincerely believe that what she's presenting is in fact a thing of beauty.

[X][FVM] Though a path might be hard and lonely, it has worth if you can present something of beauty to those you care for at the end.

Ling Qi needs to at least intend to give 'something of beauty' to her friends/family when she decides to do something. Or at least if she doesn't she'll think the choice is worthless. There's a lot of flexibility in 'something of beauty', but choices might be restricted if Ling Qi doesn't think that path would have something of beauty for a loved one at the end.
[X][FVM] Even if hardship and tribulation litter your path, it has worth if you have somewhere to return at the end.
Ling Qi needs to have a home for her to return to. No restriction on what type of home, but there needs to be one. She also probably has to come back to her home on occasion, but she's not permanently stuck at home.

I like both insights and I don't think speculated restrictions are a problem.

[][FSS] The end comes for all things, without exception. In accepting this, you are freed.
When something, even things Ling Qi really likes, ends she has to accept it. This might mean trying to extend something past its 'expiration date' is restricted. Maybe, I'm not sold on this restriction.
[][FSS] There are endings and Endings, only the very last one is final. Just as winter ends in spring, small endings are new beginnings.
After an ending Ling Qi needs start something new. Maybe there's also a restriction here on not trying to recreate an exact copy of what just ended.
[X][FSS] All things End, but one does not need to think of endings to live(No slot)

The 2nd insight is much more palatable to me, but I think Ling Qi can do better so no slot. Also she has a limited number of slots so we don't need to slot every art mastered.
