So yesterday me and Leet were out and about doing some testing for an upcoming show. Now, since we're testing things for a show, we want to get an idea of how they look, and we spot something a bit odd, someone else, doing some power testing/team building.
Usually we'd just leave and not bother them, but it's New Wave. We all know how open and transparent they are about things, and since they seem to be running the new girl through her paces, we figure it would be fine to record and post.
Video here: [

Spoiler warning: Valiant isn't a Tinker.
As we've had some run-ins with her when she was Gallant, we can tell you a few things:
1 - I don't remember those blasts being so colorful.
2 - I don't recall them hitting as hard as they seem to now, judging by the shape of the targets after some of them.
3 - Now that they're in New Wave we feel fine disclosing the blasts were usually accompanied by an emotional reaction.
We used to suspect Gallant specialized in emotion-affecting technology. Now, Leet suspects the armor limited their ability in some way.

Well, if we go by old comics, and Aleph's continuation, we have a few to go by:
Red - Anger
Orange - Jealousy
Yellow - Fear
Green - Determination
Blue - Hope
Indigo - Compassion
Violet - Love

Look, I'm just saying if her power was restricted under the Wards, it had to have been for a good reason, right? Armsmaster is one of the best Tinkers in the country, I can't imagine he couldn't make a way for her powers to work fine, even in power armor.
Now, true, you make good points that her powers could have been restricted by her emotional state, we don't know how long she was feeling trapped as Dean. Although I'm not sure about the timeline of things. I remember he was definitely in the Wards back in 2008, when my family moved from Boston due to. . .
Well, that's not important. The fact is I'm not sure how long Gallant was a Ward, for your 'wrong puberty' theory to hold up.

@Bullshit-O-Meter Green is more usually associated with jealousy. Blue is more typically associated with sadness. Pink is oftentimes mroe associated with love, but knowing her history it could be jealousy or joy.
We just don't have enough data.

Everyone's pointing out Armsmaster would never build something that weakened a power on accident. But what if it wasn't on accident? The Wards program is all about learning to use powers responsibly and such. Judging by what the video shows, those beams have quite a bit of punch.
It would only be responsible to make sure there was a limiter on things while Gallant was learning, making sure they had complete control. Maybe the original plan was to remove the training wheels on the move to Protectorate and rebranding there?

when did a ward thought to be a tinker prove to be a legend lite bright?

That's pretty cool. How much can she put out? Do they reflect like light, or just hit things?
Be interesting to see as a lightshow, and the emotional element sounds like it would also be useful at a show. I'd really like to see how it interacts with my own powers, but I'm not really set up for the whole 'Hero' thing.

So jealous. What's up with the LGBT poster-capes being blasters with a lot of light effects?

Although New Wave is a transparent, and honest group, I have a lot of restriction and NDAs based on my time in the Wards. As such, I can neither confirm or deny any theories about the differences shown during my time as Gallant and now.

So I'm out last night, trying to keep an eye out for Panacea when what do I see, but an unrecognized set of power armor out for a walk in an uninhabited area of town.
Look at this shit: [
link]
Background edited and metadata purged to ensure no one can use it to hunt down a Tinker. I refuse to give the gangs anything they can use.
So, I don't know what to make of this love child of an MICV and power armor.

Looks like something from the Third Reich.
Did the Empire get a Tinker?
What stupid, Germanic name do you think they'd give them?
Panzer? Would certainly fit that tank-looking thing.

german?
naw man, looks like a higgins boat to me. you know, the ships used at normandy beach? only with hints of old-fashioned diving suits. maybe a ship tinker? makes sense with the bay and boat graveyard. would also explain the hatch to get in and out and what looks like lights
you know how specializations make power armor designs odd. gotta back trace from the oddness to teh specialization
what would a good name for a ship tinker be?
shipmaster? dockmaster?

I've heard a lot of rumors lately that Lung doesn't like that even the fact even the Merchants have a higher Cape-count than the ABB. Seems he was interested in getting more on.
Maybe this is some sort of Tinker brought in for that?

Thats badass. A lot better than the pr friendly stuff most tinkers try and run out with. Looks like some actual military hardware and im behind it.

Interesting. Like the design. Looks very robust, which is handy in this line of work, but rarely very applicable. It's actually giving me a lot of ideas. . .

So, an in-depth analysis looks good, overall. A lot of blurring in the background and around any location markers, like OP said. That means there's no proof that is Brockton Bay. This could be some little-known cape in a foreign country for all we know. Did some poking around, but I didn't find anything remotely close to this. Doesn't mean it's not possible.

Dockmaster is an actual work title, and one the Dockworkers Union does still use. Granted, it's not as applicable these days, with the shipping industry gone, but we'd rather NOT be associated with any new Capes, especially ones that might have the gangs come looking for them.
Especially in a city with the Merchants. They're not exactly the kind to check information before acting on it. Or just think in general, really.

@optimystic I'm not sure if Armsmaster would take those names as a compliment or not. There's a fine line between homage and trying to ride someone's coattails.
