Or fighting an obvious illusion with a sword like an idiot for that matter.Try to break the genjutsu with more Chakra, but otherwise, trust in your teammates to break it for you, and don't panic.
Perception is just 80 XP from becoming Journeyman, and there's no telling what stunt will happen next for Success Condition 3. That, and Journeyman Perception might help Daisuke realize why specifically his Genjutsu breaking isn't working.
That Expert perform really did impress Kurenai, Kiba, Akamaru and Mariko....not.

Kurenai was more impressed with a board game. They weren't even that impress with the music or super enjoyed it. 800 EXP completely wasted in my opinion.
Could have gone to Bluff or Intimidate or Diplomacy if you wanted to stick to the Bard theme. Maybe even into Pinnacle Charisma. We already seeing the benefits of higher Diplomacy with Mariko and Pinnacle Apperance + Charisma/Empathy at superhuman level.
And man that Elite Genjutsu skill is surely helping us out right now...not. The 1600 EXP absolutely shouldn't feel like a waste but it does.
We can be at a career genin level on it and we still get the same info on what to do against it on this update. Master Genjutsu mistress she is, Jounin don't usually get completely run over by Kage level ninjas. A Single Rank Difference shouldn't cause this. It should feel like an uphill battle but not impossible like the illusion we are in right now.
And if the pain/Kai doesn't work on the next update, we fail or are very close to failing the exam unless she gives us one last chance or something. It would be hilarious sad but reasonable that all the points into diplomacy, sense motive, and high social attributes don't do much against 7 years of hatred and we fail the jounin exam cause we couldn't fix this issue in a single day and we go to the corps like Team 9.
People have too much expectations of it all magically going to work out. Because Will of Fire or something.
At least a lesson would be learn. Some things are out of your control. Rookie of the year in genin corps while the one below him pass the jounin exam. Blablabla Konoha Blood rings true or whatever.
Sounds like an opening Danzo can take advantage from.
Also I dunno about Sasuke but he not at the level to defend against Special Jounin Taijutsu/Genjutsu/Ninjutsu/Kenjutsu (Plus Kenjutsu Bonus from Iron Bastard but he does get genjutsu a pass cause he kai it....unlike Daisuke who can't do that right now) at the time of the spar.
Sasuke is talented but at this time of canon, he should at least be career genin level before he graduates from the academy. Maybe Chunnin level of using throwing weapons. Chunnin with his great fire ball jutsu but he should have been completely winded after the third one.
The Sasuke of the spar seems more like Beginning Chunnin Exam Sasuke or the Sasuke that got out of the first mini tournament on the Chunnin exams before he went to train with Kakashi against Gaara.
Sasuke at the time of the spar shouldn't have stood a chance against Daisuke unless Sasuke took the stealth route and it would have taught the thread that being a ninja means taking care of being stealthy and being aware of your surroundings. You know, take advantage of Daisuke weaknesses or something.
Maybe it just Named Character Plot armor or something. It the reason why jounin anbu members are treated as mooks.
I doubt it. This seems to not be an Aizen-style make everyone fight each other illusion that Kurenai is guiding manually; he mentioned us being on our second life, something no one could know. It's much more likely for this to be a generic "face your fears" sort of illusion, especially when you consider that this is meant to be a test. It could either be worse for us because of our having had to kill him as a child, or everyone is facing down a would-be murderer, and she wants to know how we all react against someone who's seemingly trying to kill us.We are certainly gonna attack our teammates if we choose to attack.
Actualy in retrospect if we had told her them we may not have needed to face him now, after all there is chance she would chose a diferent test to avoid having a fresh genin facing something this traumatic. But hey, at least we didn't boast about killing the guy when we first met Kurenai, right?

This isn't hard, there are only two options to consider:
1. The genjutsu just fools the senses, and Daisuke is currently looking horrified and combat ready next to a yelling Kiba.
2. The genjutsu takes over everything, and Daisuke is currently staring at emptiness next to an equally vegetable-like Kiba.
For the first option, the correct action is causing yourself pain, to get the genjutsu to end.
For the second option, the correct action is to try to minimize the effects (psychological damage, duration) of the genjutsu, by reminding yourself that it's an illusion.
That's it.
(Snip)
This has both the elements that are mentioned above, so it's sufficient, even though there is an unnecessary third addition in the vote.
The notion that Tokei is Kurenai in henge is just asinine. Kurenai doesn't know the things "Tokei" is saying. And if it is just the hallucination doing the talking, why on earth would it not be the hallucination doing the walking? The genjutsu already hides Kiba and Mariko, there's no reason for it not to hide Kurenai as well. Edit: also, this implies that Kiba and Mariko would be seeing Tokei as well, unless Kurenai had shadow clones performing the jutsu separately on them. Edit^2: also, what kind of a genjutsu master would create an elaborate technique that would encourage the target to lethally attack said master?
