Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
When or if she does grow to that level we'll have this conversation again. Right now? There are so many better options both immediate and potential.
Honestly, the arguments about Hanyi's combat ability are kinda irrelevant.

Ultimately, we'll help her because we want to help our cute junior and Ice Mom.

Now, in the more immediate future I still argue that there could be great merit in getting a nice stealth DPS spirit to round out our team and utility. As well as maybe giving us +darkness which we tragically lack. That being said, the qi concerns are real there.

She'll only grow to that level after she leaves Zeqing's influence - in other words, after she bonds to a Cultivator.

And she's quite likely to provide a solid number of useful bonuses, as she is a spirit aligned with Ice (water/darkness) and Music, which covers many of our most powerful Arts.

That being said, the qi concerns are real there.

Yeah, this is a major concern. Given our overall Qi capacity and projected growth, we can probably pick up and maintain a third Spirit in time for the Tournament, but a fourth strikes me as right out.

Yeah, which is what makes this tricky. If we knew that Hanyi wouldn't be joining us until we actually leave the Sect, then I'd say go for it. But otherwise...

That being said, such things aren't set. Her not joining us until we leave would make a lot of sense, and if we did get another spirit and didn't really have the qi for a fourth earlier then I could see that making it even more likely.

Overall, I'd say that we could probably get another spirit this year without it causing problems.

[X] would suggest that they have a spar after their talk

CRX is still kind of the great unknown when it comes to combat specifics. We need to get better at working together in fights this is a good first step.

I'm happily surprised that Suyin got us a new Dungeon quest. Also we revealed the easter egg book 2 name for the CRX path.

[X] would suggest that they have a spar after their talk

Ling Qi likes sparring, and has a lot of practice talking with Meizhen with or after a spar. So she'll probably be more relaxed and able to make her points more easily.

A fair case could be made that going into tea this early is moving too fast, yeah. We have only really known her for like half a year now. We need to ease into things like that :p

Nice.

Between that, our EPC drip from all the infodumps and our stealth missions, and at least an average roll, we might get this down in a month and get to reap the benefits all of next month.

Mmmh. So, from what I am seeing, Tea would be trying to tie our leisure actions with CRX toward the social, while sparring would continue to go for sparring is friendship school of thoughts. Mmmh.

[X] would suggest that they have a spar after their talk

I do like the idea of airhead Ling Qi talking through doots. However, there is a solid argument for Ling Qi developing into a more social character.

"Inform me when you intend to do so, and make plans for a further stay before or after then," Meizhen said crisply. "There is someone I should be introducing you to."

Ling Qi blinked, pausing in her clean up. Looking up at her friend, she felt a thread of concern. "...This isn't a marriage thing, right?"

She saw a flicker of horrified surprise in Bai Meizhen's eyes though it didn't touch of the rest of her expression.

Haha, Looks like Ling Qi is having flashbacks to the last time a friend wanted to introduce her to someone in town.

The conversation with Suyin was pretty interesting. It's cool to see her and Su Ling having their own adventures.

[X] talk tea over a cup of the stuff, Cai Renxiang seemed to think it was important.

Look, there's nothing wrong with being forward. Cai Renxiang might need a little pick-me-up, and we had tea with Bai Meizhen way quicker than that. Also, its the emerald sea, everyone knows they aren't too shy about their tea...

Hanyi isn't going to be able to grow to that level until after she leaves her mother. Also I would like to know about some of these many better options we have, since I can only think of Hezui.

I agree with this, and I think we shouldn't underestimate Hanyi. Yes, she'll require some wrangling and might be comparatively weak, but her skill-set is very close to what Ling Qi is doing - fast, cold-based special attack, music. I think they would synergize quite well, and it'd be a default support where Zhengui is much more complementary. Also we have had great success with adding qi-draining adds to our fog and grinding enemies down, I think Hanyi would be a great fit for that tactic, much better than the worms.

With only our 3 EPC qi dice and our +1 to qi dice result, we will hit A30 in ~18 months (someone said the Intersect is in 18 months not 16; is that accurate? in any case, 6 additional qi dice are required for 16). That would let us maintain B qi with 4 spirits (assuming all are at -15 like Sixiang) with plenty of cushion to deal with debuffs, but 4 spirits would put maintaining A qi out of reach.

We'd surrender relative advantage by standing still, but if we could bind both of them sooner rather than later, the cultivation multipliers seem rather valuable to me, especially if Hanyi contributes a Music or Yin multiplier.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate at all to bind a stealth DPS spirit and would gladly bind Hanyi either within the next 8 months or after the tournament. Closer to the tournament I'd have to look at the exact details.

E: months, of course, not weeks

When do we talk about our expectations and what scares us if not now? Do we truly know her hobbies, or do we just assume? All this knowledge and more can be attained with just some tea and some time to truly sit down and enjoy the moment of hopefully centuries of friendship.
