The bell above the door rang, alerting the proprietress of the famously exclusive Black Lotus Spa of Konoha that her longstanding Saturday 1:30 booking was right on time as usual. Smiling as she looked fondly at the trio standing in front of her, Izumi Okajima adressed them. "Miss Satomura, Miss Inazuka, and Kuromaru. Welcome back to my establishment."
Tsume Inazkuka let out a groan as she eased herself into the welcoming warmth of the hot spring to the amusement of her best friend.
"Yes, Yes. I'm a uncultured brute. I just got back from a an extended mission, so cut me some slack will ya, Manami?"
The titter from her friend was more of an answer than anything else, so like any good kunoichi she changed tactics and decided the best defense was a good offense.
"Speaking of that, while I was away your son decided to do something about my brats' manners."
"Oh? I haven't heard of this from Daisuke. What happened?" Manami asked, the ghost of a smirk on her lips.
Tsume scoffed. "Which means you already knew about it from Inoichis' daughter."
Her friends' smirk turned into a vulpine grin as she shrugged, sending ripples across the surface of the water. "Indeed, but because of that, I imagine yours will be significantly more entertaining."
A sharp bark of laughter was her response. "Ha! Hana is still debating on what to do with the afternoons' worth of work your son promised her, so if you have any ideas..."
Letting loose a sigh of contentment as the spas' on-staff medical kunoichi massaged her back, Tsume reflected on how the pair had become such good friends. Initially, it was more a begrudging appreciation and admiration from her as she watched the civilian Manami handle the attentions from men of Konaha with the skill many kunoichi would never begin to approach. More than anything else it resembled her families skill with ninken, as with but a word or gesture she could bring them to heel.
Hell, she'd seen Ibiki Moreno walk straight into a lamp post with a merely a smile and a nod of recognition from Manami as she passed him in the street.
Later on as their respective brats went to the academy together, they were drawn to each other by dint of being single mothers. It was then she found out that beneath the regal exterior, there existed a woman of keen intellect and cutting wit.
Her thoughts were interrupted by Manami politely clearing her throat. "Hmm?" she answered, turning her face to where her friend was getting a manicure.
"I asked where you wanted to go after this. Kuromaru still has some time at the groomers, and it won't take much time to do your nails."
"Food, maybe? Is there anything you wanted to do Manami?" she idly said before the almost gleeful look on her friends' face made her balk. "No, not that. Please, Manami." She did not shudder. It just got colder in here suddenly, that's all.
The courtesans' tsk in response made it clear that she was in too deep to escape. "Honestly. You need more in your closet than your uniform. I saw a dress the other day that would look amazing on you..."
Correction. She was doomed.
