Agree. It took 7 months to get our taijutsu up to 250, and after this Gai will probably be guilt driven and ask to take us on as a genin when it's time. So I don't really see the need to spend additional time on a close combat option.

We do not want to over diversity our skills. Also, I do not see keeping the sword as becoming closer to Iron considering thier obsession with honor.

The Daimyo tried to do right by our mother, even if he's just another slave to his urges. Also don't think our sibling or the country deserves the upheavel nor do I want to be used as a pawn to do that kinda thing.

Sword is ours. Fuck anyone who says we owe anything to him or his family after what he did. Not being bitter and vengeful should be more than enough.

We signed up with Gai, fist-to-face eight gates specialist. Why people are bent on wasting synergies by picking up a sword that isn't even all that remarkable?

Killed, not murdered. Murder implies it being unlawful and premeditated. It obviously wasn't premeditated because we had no idea he would try to stab us. And it's obviously not unlawful. This is such a clear-cut (harr-harr) self-defense case that the police let us go after apologizing. It's also not videogame logic, more like shonen logic. We've got the beginnings of a truly badass ninja. We killed our first man when we were six. Zabuza-shmabuza, am I right?
