[X] Plan Save the world
Ah, the madness this Quest has inspired is refreshing, I like the omakes to as they help fleshing out some things, even if their just the non-canon crazy ones.

By the end of this storm of omake will Konamikode be sober I wonder or will the face of SV quest writing have changed because we he got him to the point he is posting drunk?
In the not too distant future. In a tired thread. Questing has become routine.

Questing has changed. It's no longer about Fandoms, Genres, or Mechanics. It's an endless series of Omake written by questers. Questing--and its consumption of free time--has become a well-oiled machine. Questing has changed. ID-tagged questers carry ID-tagged keyboards, use ID-tagged computers. Caffeine inside their bodies enhances and regulates their abilities. Content control. Choice control. Fun control. Thread control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. Questing has changed. The age of Dice has become the age of Omake Bonuses. All in the name of averting Salt from Bad Ends. And he who controls the thread... controls the quest. Questing has changed. When the thread is under total control... Questing becomes routine.

DD quest to make an appealing chemical burger.

Don't get me wrong, the taste is divine but...its fucking blue.

Imma try to tackle this idea later in the day but if anyone wants in on the action, feel free.

Look just make sure we recruit Sniper Wolf, so that way Quiet can get her Strong But Silent Big Sister on, and I can Omake about that.

[X] Plan Save the world

Something I'm tempted to write is a ex-Vietcong soldier chatting with a American who fought in Vietnam against the Vietcong. I imagine that the Diamond Dogs would have the occasional odd meeting of old enemies like that. Who now both fight for the same ideals.

Haha, I remember making one of those for Pepsi/soft drinks, but I don't have that on hand anymore. I could probably remake it if I took the time

Some ideas I have for Omakes:

  1. People talking (either DD soldiers or even Big Boss himself?) About all the, umm, esoteric code names Snake seemingly comes up with. (Who assigns these names, anyway?)
  2. After many long hours (seriously, R&D is insane) of arduous research, DD has finally perfected cloning. For what reason did they research this? Why, to kill/torture Huey over and over again, of course!
  3. Ever wondered if The Sorrow would show up again? Think something up, perhaps for Peace Walker? Or maybe take a cue from The Last Days of FOXHOUND.
  4. After a bet got way out of hand, a/several DD soldier(s) are sent in gladiatorial combat to wrestle against a bear (whatever the biggest, baddest best is, pick that).

I remember there being an omake posted by someone saying they had to leave the house or something? I don't remember if it's already been marked, it got deleted, never was an omake, or whatever.

I was more asking if we got more from longer omakes. Also do it! There is no bad omake in this situation, only lack of drive!

I'm looking more for quality writing than quantity. If it's long and well written, I'll probably hand out more goodies.

Again people, make life easier for me and put a word count on your omakes and... actually PMing would probably be better so I don't get lost in the sauce trying to look through the thread for people saying they're ready for review.

Hey man, what do you think about commissioned art? In this case I'll pay an artist to make what I want to be drawn and then post it here for the quest?

It'd be cool but I'd be pretty conflicted about giving out rewards for that.

This would probably work better for me than writing omakes. :V Might as well ask @konamikode :V

I'm going to table that as part of thread discussion and nix it :V

Omakes are clear cut additions to the worldbuilding of the game. While good discussion is great, I don't want to set a precedent of people asking why this or that particular post wasn't rewarded. I'm kinda swamped as it is.

Hmm, could we make an omake that's a bunch of mini-events until it goes over 1000 words? @konamikode

I wouldn't consider that a cohesive story.

@konamikode since I don't think the wiki has it, and I can't remember if the game did, could you tell me what Paz's favorite food and drink is? Or, better yet, what Motherbase had cooked for the After Rex Party?

Is this how DD gets attack bears and bear cavelry because the boss is going to wrestle the bear to the ground then futon it out as the newest DD... D-Bear.

Question.

How much of an actual secret is Paz's existence in current Mother Base? Is it like an open secret, maybe more like the MSF veterans being aware of her or does everyone know whats up in the closed off room in the supply platform?

And how restricted is the access to it?

Probably something Caribbean. For after party, everyone probably made something from their own culture?

Looks like the 10 I make milestone has been reached.
Five actions instead of four for this turn is now possible.

You're jumping the gun, there's only nine by my count. None of which I've went over and 7 of those don't make the cut from word count alone.

So in the 1 day I was gone there are already 11 omakes made, and they have... Interesting titles.

3 days and 58 pages, and then 3 days and 11 omakes.

Imagine the forum insanity that would happen after our first year

@konamikode

Question. Even though character submissions are not yet allowed, can I use my old submission for omakes under the assumption that said character is currently either a) retraining to meet the standards of DD or b) part of noncombat support staff?

Oops

I saw 11 threadmarks subtracted 1 because it was a list of ideas. Then forgot that you needed to actually review them.

My bad.

Ok, I got some more omake prompts that are probably trash:

5. Big Boss holds a contest to see who can make the best Decorated Cardboard Box. Naturally, the DD soldiers did what they do best: sabotaging each other behind their backs (almost like informal stealth training?)

6. The Diamond Dogs are some of the most elusive operatives in recent memory. Fortunately, Frank East is on the case to bring an exclusive look at DD to the world!

7. Miller, at Paz's behest, starts to learn cooking. Not as easy as it sounds when you only got one arm, but if he could disarm a gun in 10 seconds flat... (Thinking about it, Ramirez Jr probably already knows how. Eh. Could just change it to learning Caribbean cooking in that case)

8. DD faces one of their greatest enemies yet: flocks of seagulls constantly pooping all over the struts and peking everyone. Did The Pain come back to life, or something?

Bloody hell, all these omake prompts. This actually makes me remember of my fir- Oh no nonononono

I can feel the cringe, i gonna stop remembering it.

EDIT: Removed the vote part because apparently it doesn't register if it was not on the 1st line.

While I am sad my omakes are too short to count towards the next action, I still plan on writing more of them.

Short little funnies are fun to write!
