Poly is the goal and ideal, but even if that doesn't eventuate I don't mind KyouHomu, and it'll free things up for my OTP MadoSaya.

I mean if we're going for a poly ending, I just want to note the things we're going to have to help with.

- Kyouko and Homura have to be attracted to each other, *or* like each other enough that they'd still be willing to be in that kind of relationship. Like that's there with Kyouko a bit, but Homura really only seemed really flustered which happens when somebody randomly kisses you, especially when you don't have social skills.
- Homura and Madoka have to be attracted to each other. Done.
- Sayaka and Kyouko have to be attracted to one another, *or* be close enough that they'd be willing to be in that kind of relationship. On the way sort of? This could be a complication that we'd have to work through.
- Homura and Sayaka need to be attracted to one another *or* be close enough that they'd be willing to be in that kind of relationship. This one... might be the hardest sell? I'm not really seeing it and it'd take a lot of work.
- Madoka and Kyouko need to be attracted to one another *or* be close enough that they'd be willing to be in that kind of relationship. It... could be done I guess? idk. Hardish.
- Madoka and Sayaka need to be attracted to one another *or* be close enough that they'd be willin to be in that kind of relationship. Possible. Could work.

And most importantly
- All these girls need to work out their feelings for one another *and* also agree that a poly relationship is an acceptable solution.

Like, this is going to... end of being a lot of the quest really if we want to do it right. And if you guys want to do that, that's cool, you don't get much poly stuff in quests and if Chungus is willing to write it, that's fine by me. I just want us to be clear of what we would need to do, or be done for us, for it to work out.

(Also I'm actually mega inclined to write an Omake now about Homura and Kyouko but... hm. I might wait until after this scene and everybody goes home so I can get things right.)

I don't think it's seriously plausible, but the joke of Yuma assuming everyone is interested in her sister and vice versa is amusing to me. Plus we might as well launch as many ships as possible and see which ones make it back to port.

Excuse me, I don't see Homura's Hair in any of this totally plausible™ analysis.

Like given the tone of the quest (and recent developments setting precedent) I actually think you could make it work, you'd just have to spend most of our quest time working on it which to be fair is probably in some ways not an inviting prospect.

But if we're just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks that's fine too.

Who knows? Besides, not having a plan beyond blunt force social has worked out pretty well so far.

sure? I'm not sure what we're disagreeing on anymore. (Like honestly I was more making that post as a poly disincentive by noting that it would become the Quest rather than an incentive so I'm not sure we really had a disagreement but I could have communicated that better)

Turn everything into a shipping quest and enthrall Walpurgisnacht with romcom and melodrama so she'll be too busy watching in suspense and tears (of derisive laughter) to want to kill anyone.

I think she'd eat it right up to be honest. She always struck me as a melodramatic omnicidal killing machine.
Not the sort you want to invite to your tea parties. Always makes such a mess, and won't even listen when Homura's Hair tries to speak up. If she was a nice girl, Homura's Hair would let her brush it, just once, but no, Walpnight just laughs and laughs at everyone as if they were her own private joke.

And laughs over your attempts to talk about how to ship everyone together.

That laugh hides a stream of tears. A Witch is a being of hate. There will be no victory in strength. What it takes to overcome the Queen of Witches is... a kinder, hugging Soul, to brush away all that despair.

The true way to defeat Walpurgisnacht is, then...

The power of hugs.

This means Yuma is the best equipped to deal with this problem.

We should inform Homura. She will be so happy. She might even smile. Almost. Her lips might twitch in resemblance of half the movement a normal person would make, were they about to smile, but then, thinking of it, the person decided to not smile because they felt it wasn't appropriate for the situation, or that everyone would think less of them for it.

The point is that Yuma should be allowed to brush Homura's hair once. It's only fair.

I leave you all this very important and informative and insightful commentary that totally makes sense, and then I go to sleep. But worry not, I will plot my return. And consult with my pillow about the best way to ship Everyone with Everyone.

Ship name could be Everyone. Everyone x Everyone = Everyone.

[X] Try to hide your exasperation from all your ships catching fire and sinking like rocks.
-[X] Calmly invite Madoka and Sayaka in.
-[X] Big Sis unfortunately seems to be suffering from temporary insanity. Being a magical girl can be very stressful, and these things happen sometimes. Calmly explain this to Madoka and Sayaka.
-[X] Explain that this in no way should be taken as a final pairing. Kyoko is clearly just as confused by this as everyone else, so she's probably over the temporary insanity by now. Hopefully.
-[X] Right, Big Sis?

  • [X] Very seriously, tell Kyoko that you understand why she likes Homura and her Hair, and that you support her no matter what.

[X] Very seriously, tell Kyoko that you understand why she likes Homura and her Hair, and that you support her no matter what.
-[X] After that, ask Madoka and Sayaka, completely unrelated to what just happened, about their thoughts on polygamy.
[X] Act as if absolutely nothing has happened; invite Sayaka and Madoka in for a nice chat about teams and Walpurgisnacht.
    [X] About Walpurgisnacht…
--[X] Put it off for later.
[X] Ask Kyoko and Homura if you could invite Sayaka and Madoka.
    --[X] Invite Sayaka
    --[X] Invite Madoka
[X] How do you approach the subject of making a team?
--[X] All of you need to be friends, and be a close-knit team
--[X] Include crayon diagrams and charts. Those are all kinds of official, right?
[X] Appeal to Kyouko's vanity and very, veeeeery deeply hidden sense of altruism. The Seykuu girl is going to get herself killed without her wise mentorship. And that would be a shame, because you clearly remember Kyouko calling her "cute".
[X] As for Homura, invoke cold-headed pragmatism in your idea: if everyone is invested in helping each other and working together, you would have more of a chance to fight whatever comes your way, like Walugimart or whatever.
-[X] Madoka needs to be here, because she's already involved. Her best friend is a Magical Girl and she has a crush on you and your hair, if you haven't noticed. Cutting her off from the loop would only increase her sense of helplessness and desire to matter, to be helpful. At the very least, she deserves to know more in order to make informed decisions. You speak from experience.
    [X] PANIC!
[X] Act as if absolutely nothing has happened; invite Sayaka and Madoka in for a nice chat about teams and Walpurgisnacht.
[X] But fail, and in your failure,
    [X] PANIC!
[X] Blue Screen of Death. Big Sis? And Homura? Yuma cannot comprehend!
[x] Act as if nothing exceptional has happened; invite Sayaka and Madoka in for a nice chat about teams and Walpurgisnacht.
-[x] Unless they wish to join in with the kissing, that is?

How do you count the votes, Chungus? Does position 3 add to position 1? If so, it's 18 to 12.

At this point, supporting the KyoHomu is 100% winning, cause yeah I'm counting the five votes below as well as Filraen's vote, which is counted as being different despite looking exactly the same.

Ah, right, there's also Filraen's. I wonder why it's separate like that, textcompare says they are identical.

19 to 12 then, but presumably the "After that, ask Madoka and Sayaka" doesn't proceed because it's just 5 votes.

It is the most intelligent course of action.

Clearly.

( Alright, I was joking. We are not doomed.
...
That's all.
:p)
Excuse me, I believe my vote is the only correct course of action that could ever be, as we are a responsible Sis to our Big Sis. The more responsible of the two, I'd say, so we need to look out for her.

However, seeing as everyone did not instantly change their votes to mine the instant I posted, I must concur that we are indeed doomed.

Acclimatization 2.11
[X] Very seriously, tell Kyoko that you understand why she likes Homura and her Hair, and that you support her no matter what.

"Homura, huh?" you say. "Yuma could have sworn-"

"No, no!" yells Kyoko, waving her hands wildly. "No no no, no, no no!"

"Now, Big Sis," you say. "Yuma knows that she may have been pushing you in a different direction, but Yuma wants you to know that she supports you, no matter who you like."

"But I don't like Homura!" says Kyoko. You cock an eyebrow, staring at Big Sis in disbelief. Is she really...

"Yuma may not be the best when it comes to kissing and things," you say. "But Yuma is pretty sure that when you kiss someone, it's because you like them."

"But, I, I don't!-" Kyoko sighs, rubbing her pink cheeks. "Yuma, sometimes, you kiss someone even if you don't like them. And that, what just happened? It was that kinda thing."

"So you're saying you don't like Homura?"

Kyoko nods, a smile growing on her face.

"And you kissed her anyway?"

"Yeah, now you're getting it!"

"Big Sis, you're not very good at this whole 'dating' thing, are you?"

Kyoko groans, head falling into her hands.

"Just let Sayaka and Madoka in, will you?"

You turn around, walking over to the balcony door. You notice that Homura is in the exact same position as when she saw Madoka, eyes wide. Enh, she'll get better. You open the door, smiling at your two new guests.

"Hey guys!" you say. "Glad you're here!"

Your voice snaps the two of them out of their transfixed states, staring at Kyoko and Homura. Their cheeks somehow turn even redder, and the two of them snap their gaze down to you.

"Oh, uh, Yuma!" says Madoka. "Are we, um, interrupting anything-"

"No!" Homura and Kyoko shout at the same time. They look at each other and blush, turning away.

"Madoka Kaname, you are not interrupting anything," says Homura. "You cannot be, as nothing is happening."

"B-But, I just saw-"

"NOTHING!"

Madoka jumps, making an 'eep' sound.

"Please, come in!" you say. Madoka and Sayaka finally do, hesitantly stepping into the hotel room proper.

"So, Kyoko and Homura," says Sayaka. "I guess, congratulations on-"

"We're not dating!" they say.

"Oh, sorry," says Sayaka. "If it's embarrassing, then-"

"It's not embarrassing," says Kyoko, argument somewhat hindered by the color of her cheeks. "We just aren't dating!"

"You aren't?" says Madoka. "But you two were just… you know…"

"Kissing," says Kyoko. "Yeah, that wasn't what it looked like."

"You two weren't kissing?" says Sayaka.

"Well, I mean, we were," says Kyoko. "But that's not because we're dating or anything! I just… got caught up in the moment!"

"So it was more like a confession!" says Sayaka.

"No!" screams Kyoko. "Not a confession! I don't have a crush on Homura!"

"Are you sure?" says Madoka. "She has very lovely hair, and she's actually a very nice person once you get to know her-"

"I! Don't! Have! A crush! On! Homura!"

"Then why did you kiss her?" asks Madoka.

"Because-" Kyoko raises her hand in the air, finger pointed to the sky, but stops. She takes a deep breath, letting it out in one long sigh. "I'm just really bad at this whole 'romance' thing. I'm not experienced in the whole 'knowing your feelings' stuff, and I got carried away, and the hormones took over, and we were arguing, and you know the whole 'slap slap kiss' thing? Anyway, I'm sorry if I weirded you out, Homura."

"It's fine," says Homura. "Though I must request that you don't do that again."

Kyoko nods, smiling lightly.

"Aww," you say. "How nice! Now-"

"If you even think of saying 'now kiss,' I will make you kiss the business end of my spear," says Big Sis Kyoko, eyes narrowed.

You close your mouth, wisely deciding to live to tease another day. But wait, maybe-

"Same goes for kiss and make up," says Kyoko. "And 'you really do love each other.' That one especially."

Well, drat. There go all your ideas. Kyoko relaxes, looking up to Madoka and Sayaka.

You motion towards the bed, and the five of you sit down on and around it. You and Kyoko are the only ones who actually sit on the bed, with everyone else taking a seat on the floor next to it.

"Say, Sayaka," says Big Sis Kyoko. "And Madoka too, I guess. Why were you so shocked to see Homura and I kissing?"

Sayaka turns her gaze to the ceiling, while Madoka turns bright red and stares at the floor.

"Why was I so surprised?" says Sayaka, thinking out loud. "Well, I guess I hadn't really figured out that you liked girls."

Kyoko's shoulders drop, and she hangs her head in defeat.

"Really?" she says, looking up at Sayaka. "What, was Yuma shouting it out not obvious enough for you?"

Sayaka blushes, making her the first person in this room to blush because of something non-romantic.

"Well, I was thinking about other things, okay!" she says. "There were more important things on my mind! Who you kiss was not the biggest thing to come out at that lunch!"

Kyoko smiles, already back in the teasing mood, but doesn't push any further. Madoka doesn't seem to be up for talking, staring at the floor as if having realized a horrible secret, and you end up being the one to break the silence.

"So, Sayaka," you say. "Homura, Kyoko, and Yuma were talking about becoming a team. And since you seem pretty cool, Yuma was wondering if you wanted to be in it too!"

Sayaka doesn't say anything, rubbing her chin. Her eyes are narrowed but not looking at anything, and her brow is furrowed. Eventually, she looks up at you and speaks.

"This team of yours, why do you want it?" says Sayaka.

You shrug in response. "Well, Yuma thought it would be good for us to work together," you say. "If we come across a witch too strong to take on by ourselves, if one of us is running low on grief seeds and someone else has some spares, or just to have somebody to talk to."

"That… seems good," says Sayaka. "Maybe give me the night to think it over? I mean, working together to help people can't be bad, right?"

You smile at her, positively beaming. Yay, you could all work together!

Of course, your happiness is ruined by an annoying voice in your head.

"Sayaka Miki, I find it odd how willing you are to cooperate with them," says Kyubey, pacing along the floor and settling in the middle of you all. "In particular, Homura Akemi. Were you not cursing her over her role in Mami Tomoe's death mere days ago?"

Sayaka stiffens, but more noticeably Kyoko does as well. Why would she- oh right, she knew Mami!

"Kyubey," snarls Sayaka. "I was wondering when you'd show up."

"Sayaka Miki, you are being unnaturally aggressive."

"Homura didn't do it, did she?" says Sayaka, ignoring him. "I thought that she had let Mami die, hell, that's almost what you told me happened. But you were lying, weren't you!"

Kyubey tilts his head, expression unchanging.

"Sayaka, you know I cannot lie. I told you what happened, and my recounting was entirely truthful."

"Oh really?" says Sayaka. "Then why did you say telepathy wouldn't work long-distance, huh! These three think it works just fine, and Yuma was able to connect with me when I was in my apartment, so why did you say we couldn't contact Mami, you lying fucker!"

"I did not tell a lie," says Kyubey. "Had you attempted to contact Mami, you would have found yourself unable to. The telepathic connection would not have worked."

"That doesn't make any sense!" yells Sayaka. "How can it work now, but not before?"

"Because I control the telepathy, and I would not have connected you to Mami," says Kyubey. "As such, the telepathy would not have functioned as you wished it to."

Sayaka lets out a scream of rage, bounding up and grabbing Kyubey by the neck.

"Why?" she screams, eyes glistening. "Why would you kill her? I thought you were her friend!"

Despite his current strangulation, Kyubey remains calm, detached. His expression remains the same, seemingly uncaring as to his current danger.

"Am I truly to blame for her death?" he says. "When I told you to go into the barrier, I expected Mami to survive the encounter. I did not expect for her to die alone."

"What exactly do you mean?" says Sayaka, suddenly quiet. Her hands begin to tremble, and her expression turns from one of rage to one of horror.

"I knew that the witch would be strong, too strong for Mami to handle alone," says Kyubey. "I also knew that sooner or later, you would make a contract. If you and Mami had worked together, I suspect you could have defeated the witch. But instead, you stubbornly refused to make a contract, and Mami Tomoe was murdered."

Sayaka drops Kyubey on the floor, shaking. "So that's it," she says, voice wavering as tears fall from her eyes. "You were just trying to help her, but I messed it up. It wasn't Kyubey or Homura who did it. It was me. I killed Mami."

You stare at her in shock, as do the others. Kyoko's fists are clenched, and her arms are shaking with what you think is anger. She's switching her gaze between Kyubey and Sayaka, and you think she wants to say something.

But for whatever reason, she's keeping silent, as are Homura and Madoka. Homura has returned to her original coldness, face blank, while Madoka trembles.

What do you do?
