[X] Go to lunch with Madoka and Sayaka, and explain to Madoka then.
"Definitely talk to Madoka in person," you say. "Like she said, it's better to do it face-to-face."
Kyoko nods. "Sounds good to me."
"
We'll meet you at school," you say to Madoka. "
Where should we go?"
"
Can you get to the roof without anyone noticing you? We usually eat lunch there."
You nod, before realizing your mistake and stopping. Kyoko notices, unfortunately, but aside from a wry smile she doesn't say anything. "
Yeah, Yuma thinks we can get there," you say. "
It's in twenty minutes?"
Madoka confirms the time, and spends the next minute explaining where the school is; once she trusts you know how to get there, Madoka says goodbye and signs off, most likely going back to her schoolwork. "Alrighty then!" you say, jumping to your feet. "Let's get going!"
"Wait a moment," says Kyoko. "Aren't you forgetting something?"
You tilt your head, puzzled. "Um… no? What could Yuma be forgetting?"
In lieu of responding, Kyoko simply stares at you. More specifically, she stares at your clothes.
Your green, fuzzy, pajamas…
"We gotta get changed, bucko," Kyoko says, a wry smile on her face. "And hell, I've gotta brush my hair and get it-"
"There's no time! Madoka and Sayaka are eating lunch in nineteen minutes, we've gotta go!"
Kyoko sighs defeatedly, her head hanging low. "Fine, fine, I won't do my hair. But we
do have to get changed, you hear me?"
You nod hurriedly, and go about getting into actual clothes. You wear your usual dress, and Kyoko changes into her green sweater and shorts, or as you call them, super-short short-shorts. Her clothes may be her choice, but you'll never understand why she likes those shorts; she always says something about liking the freedom of movement and feeling the air on her skin, but you can only wonder how she doesn't get cold.
A few minutes later the two of you are jogging down the street, making your way to Madoka's school.
Kyoko is by your side, red hair flowing freely behind her. Try as you might, you can't keep your eyes off it. You aren't sure why; maybe it's how different Kyoko looks without her hair in a ponytail, or how
messy it is un-brushed, but your eyes keep drifting to it.
Unfortunately, that's not a good thing to be doing while running, and you rather predictably end up tripping. Kyoko helps you up, of course, and after making sure you're okay (and a quick check on her new phone to make sure you aren't running late) she resumes walking, this time at a slower pace.
You don't trip this time, possibly because you stopped staring at Kyoko's hair, and a few minutes later you're standing outside the school grounds. You hear the bell ring.
"Alright then," Kyoko says, staring at the roof. "Let's hook those weirdos up."
With that, she transforms and
leaps onto the roof. You transform and follow her, landing on the roof with a
thump and reverting the transformation.
You look around, wondering where Madoka and Sayaka are, when you hear footsteps coming from the stairway.
"So we'll be having lunch with them," Madoka says, opening the stairway door. "They should be- there they are! Hi Kyoko, hi Yuma!"
The two of you wave hello to Madoka and Sayaka, and the two girls walk over to join you on the bench.
"Heya," says Sayaka. Her eyes linger on Kyoko for a few seconds. "Kyoko, your hair, it's…"
Kyoko runs a hand through her hair, bringing the strands in front of her face. "Yeah, I didn't have time to brush it or anything. Sorry-"
"No!" interrupts Sayaka, waving her hands in front of her face in a panic. "No, it, it looks good! Really good, actually."
Kyoko looks away from Sayaka and lifts her hair higher, desperately trying to hide her flushed face. "Sh-Shaddup! I, I'm trying to-"
Madoka, bless her soul, takes this moment to step in. "So, umm, you two wanted to talk about something?"
You (quite literally) jump at the opportunity to get the conversation back on track, hopping in between Kyoko and Sayaka. "Yeah, we need to talk to you about, umm..." You trail off, trying desperately to not look at Sayaka. "Y-You know, umm the, the thing."
"Yeah," says Kyoko. "The thing."
"A thing?" Sayaka tilts her head, looking at you and Kyoko with confusion in her eyes. "What thing?"
"The thing," you insist, not wanting to reveal too much.
"The things we came here to talk about," clarifies Kyok. "With Madoka. Cause it's kinda super-personal."
"Oooooh." Sayaka slowly nods. "I mean, how personal is it?"
You share a questioning look with Big Sis. "Umm, Yuma would say it's pretty personal," you say. "Like, super-duper personal. Suuuuuper personal."
Sayaka frowns and rests her chin on her hand. "Hmmm... " She turns to Madoka. "I guess it's… do you want me to stay, Madoka? I can go get Kyoko and Yuma something to eat from the vending machines while you three talk it out, if you want."
Madoka's eyebrows scrunch up in thought. "Umm… well, it should be fine? It's probably perfectly fine for you to hear about, umm…" Madoka trails off, and turns her questioning gaze to you. "What
is it about, actually? You, umm, never said, so…"
Oh yeah, Madoka doesn't actually know what it's about. "Actually," Kyoko says. "I think this would probably be better with just Madoka."
Sayaka cocks an eyebrow and leans forward. "Why, huh? I'm her best friend, why shouldn't I be around for this?"
You sigh and motion for Madoka to lean towards you, and you lean in until you're right next to her ear. "It's about you and Homura," you whisper. "You
and Homura, together. Like, kissing together."
Madoka's face turns as pink as her hair, and she propels herself away from you so quickly that she nearly falls out of her seat. "A-A-Actually maybe it would be better if you got them drinks!" she stammers in Sayaka's general direction. "I'll text you when we're all done, I'll tell you everything later, okay buh-bye!"
Sayaka rises out of her seat, looking at Madoka with a raised eyebrow and a bemused expression. "Uhh, okay then. I'll see you in however long it takes you, then. Later."
Sayaka leaves down the staircase, arms swinging. Tension eases out of Madoka's shoulders, and she turns to you with a bright (and almost certainly forced) smile. "Alright!" she says. "So, what's it… what's…" Madoka glances at the door Sayaka just left through. "Oh, I hope Sayaka isn't angry."
You reach forward and pat Madoka on the head. "Yuma hopes so too, though Yuma thinks she'll be fine. She's nice, she'll understand."
A tight smile makes itself known on Madoka's face. "Yeah… Okay, back on track! You wanted to talk to me about… about…" Her face, which had just started the long and perilous journey back to being a normal colour, found all its hard work destroyed as Madoka's blush returned in full force. "Y-You know, me and…"
"And Homura," Kyoko says. Madoka nods and her blush intensifies. "With you." Her face grows even redder. "Romantically-"
In the interest of not making Madoka faint, you interrupt Big Sis. "Okay, okay, that's enough. So Madoka, where to start…" You tap your foot, hand on your chin as you ponder your next move. Madoka's face begins the slow process of returning to a regular colour. "Well, to start off… we know you have a crush on Homura."
Any and all progress made in getting Madoka's face back to its state pre Homura-induced-blush is washed away by the tidal wave that is what you just said.
"B-But, I, I, I don't uhh, you can, I mean, but-" Madoka stammers away, half-formed words flying out of her mouth as she motions wildly.
Kyoko sighs, and puts a hand on Madoka's shoulder. Madoka looks up at Kyoko, having managed to stop her external panicking long enough to hear Kyoko out. "Look," Big Sis says, staring into Madoka's eyes. "We know you have a crush on Homura. That's great and we're fine with it, we support you."
Madoka blinks, taken aback. "B-But- you do? Why- I thought, I mean, you don't have to-"
Kyoko frowns. "Okay, slow down. You thought we wouldn't… what, want you and Homura together?"
Madoka slowly nods.
"
Why?"
"Uh, umm," Madoka turns her gaze to the ground. "Because, umm, I mean..." Madoka looks up at Kyoko, an odd mix of fear, confusion, and hope in her eyes. "Don't
you like Homura?"
What?
Madoka thinks… Kyoko likes Homura? But…
"I explained that I don't like her
literally a few hours ago," says Kyoko.
Madoka shrugs. "Well, I mean, sure, but… well, I didn't really buy it? I mean, you didn't seem super convincing, and isn't that what you would have said if you liked her?"
"But consider this," says Kyoko. "It's also what I would have said if I
didn't like her."
Again, Madoka shrugs. "I mean… okay, moving on-"
"Yes, moving on as fast as we can," interrupts Kyoko. "You have a crush on Homura; this is fine, it's good, you two would make a cute couple."
Now that the topic of conversation has drifted back to her and Homura, Madoka's face begins to regain its pink tinge. "Th-Thank you?"
"You don't need to thank Big Sis!" you say. "Cause it's true! You two would look so cute together!"
Madoka's blush intensifies. "Um, o-okay, uh, thanks?"
"Like Yuma said, it's no problem." Kyoko crosses her arms. "But I've got a question."
"Fire away!" says Madoka, smiling at Kyoko.
"Are you gonna, you know, ask Homura out?"
"Err…" Madoka's expression fades, replaced by a more downcast frown. "Well, I
want to, but…"
"But what?" you ask.
Madoka looks down and scratches the back of her head. "Well she'll reject me, won't she?"
Oooooh boy. You shoot a glance towards Kyoko, silently asking permission, and she nods at you. It would be… rude, to just
tell Madoka that Homura admitted to having a crush on her, to take what Homura told you in confidence and regurgitate it all to Madoka, but you
do need to make it clear that Homura indeed likes Madoka. Otherwise, Madoka may not really
get your whole spiel about how she needs to stand up for herself and get with Homura.
But how?
"Look, Madoka-"
"No, I get it," says Madoka. "It's fine, I know she wouldn't-"
"No," you say. "Madoka, listen. Yuma knows she isn't the absolute best when it comes to the whole 'people having crushes' thing, but Yuma's super-duper sure that Homura likes on you too!"
You smile at Madoka, but her expression doesn't change. "I don't know… like you said, you're not an amazing judge of this sort of...S-Sorry, I don't mean you're dumb or anything, just that this isn't your strong suit."
Huh. You can't exactly say this was unexpected, and you're certainly not insulted or anything, but you did sort of hope Madoka would take your word for it.
"I'm with Yuma on this one," says Kyoko. "Homura definitely likes you."
"Really?" says Madoka. "I don't… sorry, but I don't really see it." She glances nervously towards Kyoko and forces a smile. "And, umm, are you really much better than Yuma? You know, at the whole relationships thing?"
"Are you trying to imply that Big Sis don't know much about dating?" you say, taking mock offense. Madoka either doesn't get that you're just joking or is nervous anyway, because she raises her hands and stammers in protest. "Because you'd be right," you finish. "Big Sis
is really bad at the dating thing."
Kyoko throws her hands up in defeat. "Really Yuma? You'd betray me so easily?"
"No, Yuma isn't betraying you! Yuma is helping you! By betraying you, but helpfully!"
Kyoko smiles and ruffles your hair before turning her gaze back to Madoka. "Okay, unhelpful-betrayal-that-was-supposed-to-be-helpful aside, I'm still pretty sure Homura likes you."
"Okay, but-" Madoka raises her palms and shrugs. Confusion evident on her face. "Why?"
How to respond to that? Well, you guess it depends on whether Madoka's asking why Homura would like her, or you
think Homura likes her, though you have a sneaking suspicion that she's really asking both.
Well, Kyoko seems to know, because she opens her mouth without the slightest bit of forethought. "Well, you're nice, and you're pretty cute too. It's not exactly unbelievable."
If, a few minutes ago, someone had asked you if it were possible for Madoka to get even
more embarrassed, you would have laughed in their face. But somehow, against all logic, Kyoko's managed to do just that. Madoka's face blasts straight through most shades of red before settling on some sort of light crimson, and you know in your heart of hearts that something must be done before Kyoko puts her foot in her mouth so hard that Madoka faints.
But what?
[] To Madoka: Choose 2
-[] Homura magics up her hair to impress you, of course she likes you!
-[] Homura just happens to be wherever you are, she definitely cares about you!
-[] Homura's pretty awkward, Yuma thinks she's just shy.
[] To Kyoko: Choose 1
-[] You should focus more on the "Madoka cute" angle, she needs to hear it from someone.
-[] You should focus less on the "Madoka's cute" angle, lest she has a heart attack.
[] Give up trying to convince Madoka that Homura likes her and move on to your speech.
[] Write-in
Write-ins for the Madoka section will only count as one of the 2 options, so don't make them too
long.
