If we don't want the Shadowblood experiments to continue (the healers seemed either stumped or apathetic) I suggest adding something like this:

[] Ask mom to scan for bills of health or research notes on your last patient. Did the healers try to cure him but failed or merely keep 'the experiment' stable?

  1. Gifts have different connotations than equipment. Refer to how Sidhe seems to treasure her plain earrings we gifted her more than the artifact level earrings.
  2. If we're looking for something specific like ice magic, we're more likely to find it than by chance.

One subitem I still find somewhat important:
-[] Set a (ridiculously high) shopping budget for each of you.

Blue mentality doesn't do 'nice to have'. If we set a budget, she's more likely to min-max instead of thinking she doesn't need anything.


Somewhat ninja'd by @Vebyast on the plague issue, although I prefer to make sure that Fanalis isn't going to be experimented on again.

@Alivaril: In chapter 19.9, Jade set limits for how long Sidhe is allowed to channel Blue, but left the actual duration up to Agneyastra. Is it still around the proposed 5-10 minutes daily? Because if we plan to make heavy use of channelling, Jade should hold herself to the same standard.

Any decision on the timezone issue (1, 2)? Whatever is the least work for you works. You could just roll dice... e.g.
Eastern Empire = Vale + 4h + 1d6 h
Magnostadt = Eastern Empire - 1d3h

Also, while I dread the answer, according to your profile there probably isn't going to be another update for a week, is there?

I don't think voting in advance would work. Channeling Neph is too situational (because of how the cost increase works) and too valuable that when we get a chance to do it, our priorities may change.

The thread didn't vote for 5-10 minutes daily, and even if Agneyastra chose to use those restrictions initially, they almost certainly wouldn't be as harsh now. Jade only mandated Sidhe learn about the possible negative effects of frequent use of personality overlays, and work with Agneyastra to create a schedule to safely experiment with channeling. As channeling has since proven to be fairly benign (especially Sidhe's version), I'd imagine its use is now mostly non-restricted, if with careful monitoring.

I think we should reassure Sidhe that although she doesn't have to become a fireproof unlimited respawner to hang with us, that if we could, we'd like to make her fireproof for her safety and an unlimited respawner because we wan't her to stay with us and our other friends forever.

Hopefully, we will pass all questions through Agneyastra, Blue- & Red-Jade first to have as much background as possible before channelling Neph. The more help we get from other sources, the less of Neph's time is wasted on things we could have found out ourselves.

However, such preparations also mean we first need a list of all questions we want to ask. So even if one or two issues might suddenly crop up and we have to adjust priorities for them, it's better to be prepared (i.e. having already consulted mom, Red & Blue).

Also, even if a situation needs the first timeslots of a Q&A session, we can use the remaining time to just go down the ordered list without breaking for a vote. It should be more convenient for us and Alivaril.

^ I am well aware that we didn't fix it at 5-10min. Still, it was the proposed duration, so I used it as a guideline.
And it's easy to assume Agneyastra loosened those limits, but we don't know. That's why I asked before we became a hypocritical jerk.

Could we hold off on this, please? Agneyastra can get us a far better picture, and randomly grabbing a picture off the street feels insufficient. If we're going to give her a nice group photo as s memento of the small group here, we should do it as just the small group, in a setting where she's comfortable having any emotions she wants. If she wants to react by being overwhelmed and tearing up, she can't do it right now because we're "a goddess and her retinue", and that's if we're not interrupted halfway through the moment by something or someone. That and a half-sentence aside about "find something sentimental" defeats the entire point of a sentimental gift. We need to put more effort in than this, please.
 
Uh... @Vebyast ? We're not actually Sidhe's friend, we're a bunch of quest voters roleplaying Sidhe's friend. What, exactly, would it look like if we "put more effort in than" describing a couple of possible options for what gift Jade might get Sidhe? The only good thing we can do there is to explain in more detail what Jade will get her, but that opens us up to nitpicking with each other about it being the wrong present.

I don't see why it can't be possible but as far as I know it hasn't come in the series. I remember a fic that played with the idea: Fate making Nanoha a familiar out of desperation after the latter's accident. Parallels to Precia's desperate attempts to save Alicia don't take long in coming.

I'm ambivalent on this: in one hand, we could ask Mom to take a good picture of us as we go through buying, in the same vein she got Jade's picture for Shiva; it has the benefit of being a natural-looking photo because we won't be posing*. In the other hand, posing for an artist has the benefit of being a group activity, although Jade may not like to stay still for long; Sidhe has the same memory-enhanchements than Jade has, it isn't like she'll forget how everyone looks.

I think I prefer "ask Mom for a photo" but not by much.

*a secondary benefit would be Mom seamlessly inserting Mitra's avatar in the photo.

Yes, it's generally used to show that some or all of a message is supposed to be a joke, not taken seriously, sarcastic, etc. In this case, at least the "boring" bit. It doesn't make the entire quote immune to critique, it just means at least part of it shouldn't be taken seriously; it helps convey tone of voice over the Internet.

For example, you can disagree with including the demigod portion or even the consequences of "fun" without calling it out as sniping to be dropped. Both of those are methods of criticism.

I was meaning for the process of getting a picture to be a fun experience together. Perhaps my aim was off. How would you change it? My objection to practical gifts is: if it's useful to have, and we have unlimited money, we'll buy it anyway. Practical / useful objects are equipment, not gifts

I may have used insufficiently precise wording. I think that Jade should not settle for a random picture off the street. I think that the group photo is an excellent idea, but that trying it the way Yog is doing it will ruin it because Jade is just jumping at the first opportunity to get any picture at all instead of sitting down to make sure she picks a picture that Sidhe can and will treasure. I think that if we happen to capture a good moment while we're out shopping we could use it as the picture, but going out with the intent to take one feels like it's trying to force it and defeats the purpose. I'm not in favor of going shopping for birthday presents, basically - I think that we should just try to have a good time and the opportunity will present itself. Because that's really what would be special to Sidhe about a photo -it's not about having a piece of framed paper, it's about what the picture is a reminder and symbol of.

I may have used insufficiently precise wording. I think that Jade should not settle for a random picture off the street. I think that the group photo is an excellent idea, but that trying it the way Yog is doing it will ruin it because Jade is just jumping at the first opportunity to get any picture at all instead of sitting down to make sure she picks a picture that Sidhe can and will treasure. I think that if we happen to capture a good moment while we're out shopping we could use it as the picture, but going out with the intent to take one feels like it's trying to force it and defeats the purpose. I'm not in favor of going shopping for birthday presents, basically - I think that we should just try to have a good time and the opportunity will present itself. Because that's really what would be special to Sidhe about a photo -it's not about having a piece of framed paper, it's about what the picture is a reminder and symbol of.

My own stance is that we should be careful to avoid overthinking and angsting about our social choices as long as they don't involve being blatantly offensive or triggering our friends' known psychological problems (i.e. Nanoha's workaholic tendencies).
 
It's the thought that counts, and therefore overthinking a present is a lesser offense than underthinking it.
 
Who would have thought that having effectively infinite money would make it harder to get someone a gift?

See, that's the logic that applies to Jade, but that's different from the logic that applies to us.

Jade just stresses out when she overthinks things. We get into weird salty arguments about the exact wording of vote choices.
 
If you think this is bad imagine what we are going to get Agneyastra for mother's day.

The amount of stress I expect it to cause Jade will make Agneyastra want to erase the holiday from existence.
