Man, there's been some cool airship innovations in the last several years. I'd love to see some of these aircraft in action. Especially the rather massive
Airlander 10. Also, someone managed to figure out a good system for altering the amount of lift without venting the gas-bag or offloading ballast, and got it to work. Neat sh*t.
On the subject of specialty ammo: Should we consider researching something for the Jagdgewehr, or are we just going to use it as the "kill stuff" gun and the Machine Cannon as the "utility" gun? I can see benefits to both approaches, really (though I, personally, feel that focusing on the Machine Cannon for utility ammo would work better, since more shots means more chances to apply the debuffs). Either way, though, I'd like some kind of acid round for our jaegers. And we really should look into getting the Jagdgewehr (and maybe the Machine Cannon, if the bakelite doesn't count) some cauterizing ammo to minimize the mess (not to mention learning to make the Jagdgewehr itself, just in case).
Even for a damage-dealing-focused gun, I can see several types of altered ammo that would be useful, like incindary, flechette, cryonic, and other sorts of damage-type altering rounds.
The Jagdgewehr is best fit as a sniper sort of gun due to its range, damage profile, and clip size. And we tend to use Jagdhund as a mid range sniper so it works well with her kit. The only kind of ammo I see us really giving it is AP ammo to stay relevant against Cat III+ enemies.
It's got some innate armor-piercing qualities, and the plasma rifle on Jagd is already good for anti-armor purposes. But yeah, some AP rounds could be handy.
Assuming we can research AP ammo worth a damn.
I mean...Inko did have those plasma shells we could try and copy...
[X] Humanity survive by working as a collective, what you see today is merely another example of it.
-[X] That being said, it appears the kaijus are attracted by a supercell reactor of some kind, may we inquire to what you can tell us about it
Edit: does this sound stupid?
It's...abrupt.
And Phenom is now the Tankiest Jaeger! As he should be. And the upgrade to the perk is welcome as well!
I'm half-tempted to upgrade Phenom's HtH next so we have more leeway when using that perk because it basically gives us +3 AV. We need that Blocking Augment/Mod ASAP.
Shock absorbers in the wrists and hands, perhaps? I guess that'd count as a Hand Mod. Alternatively, we could always make better blocking hands.
Well, this should come in handy just in case KRAUN, or DGINN, or some other crazy Human faction decides to mess with us. I don't see why not add EW and ECM to the Tyr if we get the chance.
We might even be able to apply it to Kaiju with enough research into their hivemind connections. They're using some sort of signaling system, right? We might be able to tap into it artificially, or at least jam it with gibberish.
I still want to try to squeeze some more performance out of Tacit's Vulcans, but this will do. Oh yes, this will most certainly do.
Didn't the Ammo update change them around a bit? Might be good to get some more use out of them, or maybe run a simulation (I.E. pull up the sheets and roll some dice) against previous Kaiju, before we assume we need to do more work.
A Neural Disruptor Kaiju, maybe? I don't think Conventionals will be very helpful here but that's why we have Jaegers and I don't think neural fuckery will have too much of an effect on Jagdhund.
Yeah...this guy is more than a bit concerning. Not sure where I put him on the priorities list, but I would be up for doing multiple low-Cat hunts in one turn, at some point.
That's worrisome. Who wants to kill it ASAP before it turns into a Cat V? Just me?
Seconded.
Well, who wants some grilled fish?
It'll probably be a bitch to find close to the sea floor, given its shape. We should build a few extra Scouts for that fight, of course, but the only other preparations for it I can think of are building Morays and some sort of underwater propulsion augment.
I expect that DGINN may go for a Round 2 at some point. Might be best to just let them handle it.
It's built for trading blows in melee, then. And Phenom won't have any more trouble grappling it than normal. The poison it has is probably acidic as well, so we want to make sure it doesn't stick on (or in) any of our jaegers.
So it's hard to knock prone and has a long tail. It's also highly radioactive as well, so we should be on the lookout for some Atomic Breath shenanigans or something similar.
I'd be up for hunting them soon, possibly before Tara, since they're so detrimental to the environment. Boreas is still higher priority, both for the Resources, and the growing thing.
It's a hell of an upgrade for the conventionals, but I want to try squeezing more Damage Bonus out of Tacit's 60mm Vulcans. It's nowhere near as much of a concern now, though, roughly on the level of "spend a spare action if we can't think of anything more important to use it on".
Gotcha,
[X] "It is our duty to defend not just our territory, not just American citizens, but all of Humanity, wherever we can. Showing up to protect the citizens of Spokane Valley and helping the soldiers on your outpost is part of that duty."
-[x] "Is there any news about the outpost since our return to Neo-Seattle?"
-[x] "We would also like to inquire why we did not receive any Jaeger support from your forces. Considering the number of Jaegers we've seen at your disposal and the near-instantaneous nature of ANGEL-Net Comms, it seems strange that no reinforcements arrived in time for the fight."
Sounds good?
Works for a starter and a lead-in to giving them the Skadi designs. Would still like to ask what the heck they brought through there that called down this much of a sh*t-storm, though, but that can wait.
Could we design new Vehicles using modified versions of the 60mm uv lsser Vulcans?
I mean...yes. I wouldn't really suggest lasers on submarines, water tends to attenuate the beams, and maybe bend them (not sure on the last one). Surface naval vessels are okay, they don't have anywhere near the attenuation issues, but there are going to still be light-bending issues sometimes, due to mist and stuff.
Other than naval vessels, though, I think we've attached lasers to most of the units it's practical to attach them to. Tanks, helicopters, AKBs, and planes. I guess we could make a laser-wielding scout variant? Or I guess we could make laser artillery. I would rather make tanks, since the artillery right is basic just cheaper-but-immobile tanks, and the cost differences are negligible with MPFs. Sure, it's still 4x as much, but the absolute difference between 200 and 50 is much less than between 40 and 10.
The main issue with lasers as a main weapon for Conventionals is the lack of tactical flexibility. As a backup weapon they're stellar, but being able to switch to acid rounds or Dragon's Blood missiles is handy. There might be some advantage to equipping them to the scouts, though, since they only pack one kind of missile, and it might be worse than the lasers would be.
