Scientific instruments use 99.999% pure gold, although it is obviously used in much less quantity than more industrially used gold.
In practice it doesn't matter much; without a power ring or other superpower/supertech/magic gold's a lot less available. Modern refinement techniques are more efficient than those used by Io, but they can't refine gold that isn't there.

Wait, what DC story involved a Muse?
One of Gaiman's Sandman stories. Click Callipso's name for the link.

One of the Sandman shorts.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman

Spoiler below on what happens:
A writer named Erasmus Fry captured Calliope and regularly raped her and kept her around for inspiration. Another author, (I forget the name) buys the object containing Calliope and did something I don't really remember

Sandman. An author held the Muse Calliope prisoner and repeatedly forced himself on her in order to gain literary inspiration. Dream of the Endless found out that this was going on and WAS NOT AMUSED.

It was something that happened in one of the stories in Sandman.

Urk
Seriously? I mean, I knew Sandman was like Hellblazer and part of the darker comics - Vertigo right? - but DAMN that's the sort of shit Constantine puts up with. As Villains.

And then some "Angel" got bitchslapped because it had been happening for decades.
It would be amusing if someone meet the Spectre and told him off by all the really horrible crimes he didn't took Vengance on.

Dude got his in the end. The Endless tend to get... let's go with inventive when mortals piss them off. And imprisonment is one of Dream's hot buttons.
Even if the Endless didn't get him, given the way the metaphysics of this setting works it seems like there's a good chance his actions would give the Olympian gods at least some jurisdiction over his soul, like what happened with the Khandaqi gods and Theodore Adam. Doing something like that is really playing with fire, even outside of how disgusting it is.

Even more so in this timeline, now that a guy who literally knows one's number and the address of two others is taking an interest. And the Olympians are no slouches themselves when it comes to "inventive" punishments.

"It's like we stole fire from the gods, or something."

"In most of those stories the mortals get away with it."

"Yeah, until they die, and they find out why the gods can afford to be patient."

The Endless are several tiers above petty elementals, so I wouldn't bet on it.
Those things were originally designed to hide a succubus from the entirety of both Heaven and Hell.

And they worked.

The Source might be able to crack them, but that's about it.

Of course it is possible to get around them by, for example, just personally keeping tabs on him at all times using non-magical means so he can never slip away from you. Like, for example, the Ophidian does. Or having metaphysical superiority over someone who's already doing that so you can just use their taps. Like, for example, Desire does.

Given their obviously similar metaphysical affiliation, it occurs to me there's a good chance that Desire could just ask the Ophidian about OL and she'd tell him everything about her awesome new little buddy.
