I'm just kind of imagining everything is normal, fine and well. Then they (the Justice League) start talking about the aliens. They're going over what they know, and then Stewart goes "Oh shit, it's the Reach." And suddenly the ring goes over everything said, decides the Reach have legally (according to the treaty) made a treaty with Earth, and teleports all the Earth Green Lanterns to the Green Lantern world.

While amusing, the way it really happened was that the JL was on trial for attacking a planet (the Christmas takeover of the tower was the Light setting this up). Stewart was there either as one of the convicted or a representative. I cant remember which.

Now all I can think of is Alan becoming proficient enough in the Blue Light in the future to de-age all of the non-unaging members of the JSA. Not a thing he'll immediately think of or jump at but might still happen. Joan or Jay fall down hard or have a heart attack or something and Blue Light powered Alan heals them but thinks of the good old days while doing it and suddenly 30-ish Joan, Jay, or anybody else. I don't think the Garrick formula affects a person to where de-aging them with a Power Ring is impossible.

Also, will the SI ever get Alan's ring upgraded to have an AI? That would definitely make it more probable.

Unless Alan is just going to be using his Green Ring with a Blue Lantern from now on. That may complicate things because Green Rings aren't good at Healing without extremely good mental images of what exactly is going on.

Edit: Also, hows using a Blue Lantern Power Battery going to affect his Green Light soul structure? Will it begin to shift towards Blue Light? Will it stay the same? Will they mix? So many questions.

Edit 2: Would whoever made the Green Lantern Sector 2814 section on the Wiki mind if we got rid of the text saying who was promoted? I don't wanna just delete someones stuff just cause I don't find it visually appealing.

To be fair, Alan was fine and had some charge remaining when Paul left Earth. It is sort of sad that the other Green Lanterns are so gutless that they wouldn't sneak Alan a charge. But, to be fair to them, they might not know Alan is in the shape he is.

Either the Greenies locked down all 3 GL personal lanterns to only charge the ring paired with it, or they forbade the GLs from letting Alan charge off their personal lanterns.

Earth losing a GL to give Alan a temporary charge is not a good trade. Even if we assume the lantern sticks around long enough for Alan to get a full charge. Paul would need to get not only a second green power lantern, but a new green ring as well.

Also, what is Cursitor Doom up to? Still cleaning out his home? Getting settled into the modern world? Given his deal with Graven I'd think that forming The Light 2.0 would be something he'd be checking in on. Or does he somewhat trust Graven to do the right thing after Operation "Lights Out" and is staying hands off?

As far as I know, any Green ring can charge off of any other green power battery. Such as when Alan received charge from Jack Chance's. It does seem to be tied to their personal oath in this work though.

Also, I think that yes, they have been forbidden. But to be honest....come on, they couldn't do the whole "I'm going to just set my power battery here on the table. Superman, Wonder Woman? Could you watch it for me? I'll be back in about 5 minutes."

And, as far as we know, nothing has happened to Jack Chance for allowing Alan to recharge. Not only is there a good chance (heh) that the Guardians didn't even notice, there is another that they don't even care.

I highly, highly doubt that the Guardians are going to fire any of the Earth Lanterns for their act. Particularly when they explain that they are just trying to save man's life. They Guardians might be stubborn, but they aren't cruel. (Especially because Zoat's writing isn't shit.)

>And, as far as we know, nothing has happened to Jack Chance for allowing Alan to recharge. Not only is there a good chance (heh) that the Guardians didn't even notice, there is another that they don't even care.

From what I understand, that's due to Jack Chance being under a different agreement with the Guardians than other green lanterns, due to his planet being so dangerous.

Wasn't me, but how's this? We can document their full history on their individual pages, and there's no reason to denote A/B/C on that list.

Alan's original ring almost certainly can't support it. His new Blue Lantern ring has one.

EDIT: On the subject of the characters page: I really don't think we need to include each character's faction in their article title unless it's necessary for disambiguation. Using just their name means we can use Wiki Links instead of needing With Aliases, and their character page can include all of the information necessary.

There's no post of Zoat, Guy, or the SI saying it outright that I know of. When Paul and Guy first saw Ragnar they both looked at his emotional makeup. Guy has Emotional Spectrum vision at the very least. The green quotation marks as well but as stated by someone earlier in the thread, Zoat has a limited number ways to show special effects so it could be circumstantial.

More circumstantial evidence would be that only other case of hosting an Embodiment was at least one factor in Paul gaining his own Enlightenment.

Nothing confirmed, only peripheral evidence.
I was the one who mentioned that Zoat only has a few of ways to represent an attachment to an emotional light.

Guy being able to see fear is the circumstantial evidence that I was thinking of. I put Guy having will enlightenment at about 70 percent probability, because it's the simplest explanation and it seems similar to what the SI has. But that's not enough certainty to include the information in a wiki, given that alternative explanations exist that Zoat hasn't specified yet because dramatic effect or whatever.

Everyone decided it was the Reach. The Light does seem plausible, though.
The Reach doing so seems possible, but unlikely considering the sentence leading up to the point where he got cut off is about improving human society. That is, nominally, what the Light do. In practice they basically just piss off the Team and the League, but their stated goal is to better humanity through some Libertarian mindset thing. Also, the Reach only appeared in YJ in 2016. I don't know why they would appear years earlier.

The oath is basically just a password. A rather good one actually, the oaths are rather long. But I imagine that the Lanterns of 2814 have had their personal lanterns blocked from recharging Alan. The Guardians don't want him recharging, and disallowing him seems fairly simple to do.

I kinda liked the A/B but it's fine to just leave it to the character pages.

I don't think Alan is getting a Blue Ring. Paul only asked for a Lantern. Think Zoat said something like that when people started talking about Alan having a Blue Ring.

I have no idea about the 'With Aliases' stuff. I just copied it for the Orange Lanterns because someone else had started that and I didn't wanna mess up someone else's thing.

Edit: Is the Alternate Pauls being called 'Crisis on Infinite Pauls' ok? I like meme-y titles.

Edit 2: Should the Sivana clan be under Captain Marvel's city or the Planet Venus?

I would call it Crisis of Infinite Pauls, but I have no particular complaint about it.

Venus.

EDIT: Should we include links on the character pages to documentation on their general DC canon?

EDIT: I've made a stub template because tiny pages like Spell Eater look weird without it.

Sure, as long as it is already on the relevant character's page. (This is namely so no one forgets.)

Added the field to the info-box template.

I'll have to read it again because, although I remember that Alan is blocked from being recruited, and Hal said something about having to argue with the Guardians about "letting" Alan keep his ring. (Good luck taking it from him. AI or no AI in the ring, Alan wrote THE book on willpower) But was it ever said that Alan can't be allowed to recharge off one of their lanterns? I know he was allowed during the whole Paulphidian thing...but other then that I don't recall.

Yes. For a picture if nothing else.

It might be better to just have a single page for equipment or something and have links to sections of that page. One page for spell eaters, Awakening, kinetic belts, etc. Each would be too short to justify a page for. Making it a stub page seems inelegant to me.

It was said that the Greenies can't allow him to do so. I'm just guessing in saying that the personal lanterns themselves block it.

I agree that redirecting "Spell Eater" to "Equipment#Spell_Eater" is a good idea. Hadn't thought of that. Probably "Awakening" would go to "Upgrades#Awakening" or something, alongside the Danner Formula, the Garrick Formula, Venom, Blockbuster, Velocity Nine, etc.

Corps equipment isn't allowed to be shared outside the Corps. They recharged him when facing the Ophidian because the Book of Oa had very broad wording on what they were allowed to do in that kind of emergency.

Earth's Greenies do actually like Alan, they just have rules.

On that note...if we are going to loophole...I can't help but think that the Book of Oa might have a passage about allowing Lanterns to recharge if their life is literally on the line. Or something like that.

Eh...Paul's back on earth with a Blue Battery anyway.

Alan blinks blearily as I reappear, grabbing his right hand and shoving his ring-.

His hand's cold.

"Oh. Paul." He smiles weakly. "You're back."

"Yes. I am."
I'm still half expecting Alan to die here just so Zoat can further emphasize the difference between the two Paul's since Para-Paul has extensive connections to at least one afterlife and would have no qualms about delving into the land of the dead to take back someone he wants to live.

He weakly shakes his head and blinks, then pushes himself upright. "I was… Ugh." His arms shake and I don't know whether to offer to help or not. Reaching what he appears to think is an acceptable verticality, he leans back against the headboard. "I was a little worried that I wouldn't.. last… Long enough. So?" He smiles weakly. "How'd it go?"

His ring isn't… Doing anything. Out of power completely, I assume. But since I'm here, that's not really critical any longer. "Fairly well. The Orange Central Power Battery was recovered and transferred to Maltus. Controller Hinon improved it to the point that future Orange Lanterns shouldn't have quite the same problems with the…" I wave my right hand at the side of my head. "Mental effects. I've recruited a few good people, and our Clarissi is organising the whole thing into a military force that will -with a little time and a little luck- be able to hold off the expansion of the Reach."

Alan's head tilts back, his eyes closing. "I'm very glad to hear it."

"We haven't finished building our infrastructure yet, so… Sorry, but building a statue of you had to get put on the back burner."

His smile widens slightly as he returns his full attention to me. "Heh. I don't… I don't need a statue. Just knowing it all worked out for you is plenty." He momentarily raises his right hand. "Sorry. I did follow your advice, but there isn't a drop of power left in it."

"Yes, I see. Um, Alan? I-."

"You meet any nice girls in space?"

"Ah… Yes? Actually, I think I recruited slightly more females than males. Or.. 'other's."

"No. I mean, good, but what I meant was-."

"No, I didn't meet anyone I was more interested in than Jade. And I'm not really a casual.. hook-ups kind of guy."

"J.. ade…" He frowns. "That was the… Asian girl?" His eyebrows rise slightly. "The assassin?"

"Former… Um. Person who was involved in an organisation that did occasionally-."

"I'm not a lawyer, Paul. I'm just.. a little concerned. Getting involved with a supervillain didn't work out too well for me."

"I'm happy to.. bring her round. You can get to know her, and if you still think it's a bad idea… We can talk about it."

Alan's eyes drop for a moment. "I.. doubt that I've got the time I'd need to-."

"I got you a present." I put Kalmin's box on the bedside-. I put Kalmin's box on the bed next to him so that he can reach it without stretching.

"Heh. Hope it's not a long book."

"It isn't a long book."

"Okay." He picks it up, and with visible effort puts it on his lap. "Let's take a look at-" He opens the long side. "-this…" His eyes widen slightly as he looks at what is probably Universe 16's first blue personal lantern. "W-what is this?"

"The Guardians have you on the 'Do Not Recruit' list, no one else can make green personal lanterns without their permission and the only other place I know of with unused green personal lanterns is Apokolips. So that was out. But after I consulted with a few experts, we concluded that you would probably-."

"You-? You got me a blue lantern?"

"I had it made for you, yes. Did you really think I'd tolerate you dying, Alan? I saw a problem, and I worked to fix it."

"I-." His eyes move uncertainly from me to the lantern and then back again. "How does it… Work..?"

"You said I made you feel hope. So I got you a personal lantern that runs on the stuff."

"Paul, I'm…" He shakes his head. "Not getting out of this bed. I-."

"Yes you are. You remember when you tried to separate me from the Ophidian and I told you-."

"You said I was becoming.. living green light. That was why you couldn't heal me after I had that fall…"

"Fortunately, blue light isn't quite as antithetical to green light as orange light is. Literally all you have to do to be well again is point your ring at that lantern and… Hope."

"And… Then what? I…"

"Whatever you want. I can't spend all my time healing people because I can only get properly invested in a certain number of lives. A blue ring doesn't have that restriction. Or… You'll be physically fit enough to become a full time superhero again… If you want."

"I… I don't know what to say…"

"I think it went: 'I will spread my light over dark evil, for dark things-'."

"Did I ever tell you that I only ended up with that because I made a mistake with what I was meant to be saying, and I didn't know how to wipe it and start over?"

I blink. "No. What was it supposed to be?"

"The first part was supposed to be: 'I will spread my light over all things dark and evil', but I got… I don't know, distracted or something as I was saying it. I had to spend sixty years saying something that made no sense with a straight face."

My face creases up as I snort with laughter. "Seriously?"

"Yeah. It didn't come with a user manual. What was I supposed to do?"

"I-. I don't know… But right now you need to come up with a new one. I mean, you'll be fine after you use it, but at the moment you're still dying."

"Oh, I ain't dead yet, son."

The lantern flares, and I stand back as the blue light pours into Alan.

"Oh, not again."

"Connection established. Please stand by."

"Ah?" Alan raises his ring slightly and a pure blue beam connects it to the glowing core of his lantern. "Is it supposed to feel..?"

"Hopeful?"

"Ye-ah."

"Restoring AI support structures. Updating database. Installing AI assistant. Copying communication protocols."

The undulating blue energy gives off a strangely musical noise as Kalmin's update system goes to work
.

"Establishing user interlink."

For a second Alan's eyes flare blue, and his skin…

"Restoring innate empathic spectrum energy."

His skin starts to swell as muscle and fat are added beneath it
. YES!

"Final checks in progress. Stand by."

One last surge of blue light and the lantern dims back down to normal resting levels
. Alan's lantern-shaped ring is now glowing bright blue, and the man himself looks much as he did when I first met him.

"Welcome back, Alan."

"Thank you." He takes a moment to check his rejuvenated arms, then gingerly raises his hands to his face to check for wrinkles. He then exhales as he lowers them. "It's good to be back."

That was very pleasant. I'm mostly just mad that now I gotta wait another day for more.

So....Alan's green ring just became blue? That's odd. Wouldn't have expected that.
