Nameless Praexis Demons of the Orange Lantern Corps, your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

This doesn't follow for the same reason as being able to use nuclear fission (for energy or warfare) doesn't mean we can stop it from occurring
We can stop it in reactors by inserting control rods, and a nuclear missile can be destroyed before it can go off. In any case, it's not really a good comparison since FTL is far more complex to initiate than a nuclear reaction.

We can stop chain reactions, not fission. Uranium in the reactor keeps on undergoing fission, but because the inhibiting rods catch enough neutrons produced as a result of said fission, the reaction rate doesn't continuously increase.

you know how scary renegade is? Paragon just surpassed that.
Indeed. Desire nullification is... Well, there's a good reason that Desire is one of the Endless. Paul can do pretty much what Anti-Life equation does. At long range.

Also, he really needs to keep talking with and working on Ophidian, explaining to her the concept of net worth and how acquiring something might decrease one's overall position. I mean, Ophidian has some kind of understanding of that - she "spat out" Apokoliptians she ate in the past.

Well. The other demons were scared. Whatever scares a demon that dumb and thus unable to feel any fear besides existential fear..... Has a rather high potential of being extremely dangerous.
To say the least.

Considering that they already recognized that they were effectively immortal constructs... It went beyond that.

Paul has discovered a potential super weapon.

He should call it "The Last Supper".

Heck, I doubt that anyone understand what it's mutated into now!
understands what

him. He started
I draw the Sword and fly towards the closest Portal Demon. Upside down on the back of its head it's eyes flick in my direction

"Uuuuuuh?"
my direction.

Poor hell-portal-demon. Least it was quick?

Man, Paul is wasteful.

Its not like the construct lanterns have independence of him, so I don't see the point of putting it down.

The question is after eating the portals were they still/would they remain construct lanterns?

Remember, once they ate them, they were no longer orange - they started turning gray and black, undergoing active corruption.
No? They were absolutely construct lanterns. The grey and black was from the Famine magic inside of them trying to fuck them up, even as they consumed and processed it. Their speech was still orange, and prior to being hit by the Sword, they had a connection to the lantern ring.

My understanding was that the grey and black was from the unfiltered and unorthodox (heh) connection to some plane of Hell or Hell-analogue, and that it was exactly the kind of unprecedented, unexplainable Weird Magic Shit that gives people like OL reason, but not capability, to rename and reclassify concepts like 'construct lantern'.

The null-Famine bits complicated things further in a direction no one present understood but which everyone present agreed was Probably Very Bad.

So he turned to the next best thing of which he is capable: complete metaphyisical annihilation (fatal; potential theological implications).

No, he can't. The only reason it worked this time was because the demon was made up of a multitude of incredibly weak demons with no intelligence and specifically weak to orange light manipulation.

Several things on my mind:
1) What would happen if an orange Praexis demon tried to eat the Bleed (portal)? More seriously, given the result of eating a portal was turning his demon into a walking portal, I would think Paul would experiment with that further. With difderent kinds of portal technology / magic. Also maybe have one of his demons eat one angel feather, if only to check if they retain the adverse reaction from when they were demons.

2) Where was Paragon during the fight? Because it occurs to me that getting Mnemoth's powers, dialed to 11, wouldn't be good for anyone. I mean, assuming he also didn't get the insatiable hunger of the whole horde of Praexis constructs plus, for a moment, a full blast of Ophidian's avarice.

Thing is. Satanus saw that shit. How long until he start experimenting with some praexis demons to try to replicate those... whatever those where? Things are going to escalate.
