Hm. On another note, Paul has discussed empowering enemies of the Reach with Orange, gaining the power to fight the Reach in a war he seemed to think would last centuries.

Lots of options for dealing with the Reach.

Freeing the scarabs, which could work if they're the hive minded alien race like from the comics, or machines made by the Reach.

Siccing the Beta-3 Gizmoid on them- a planet destroying super robot that imprints on someone and duplicates their appearance and powers, so sort of a kaiju Amazo, courtesy of Desaad, and it should be on Earth. For appropriateness I'd imprint it on a Beetle so they get to fight a giant beetle, but it's not like they aren't plenty of interesting options in DC.

"Boom tube generation?" No, doesn't sound like it.
Dropping heavy things on people is really easy if you can make portals anywhere. Or opening a portal to the sun, so that anyone nearby the portal roasts.
In the comics, and so certainly might not be applicable here in another universe, I freely admit, the clayface condition comes from an enzyme in the blood.
I'm guessing that it isn't the case here, as that explanation is terrible. Like, really terrible. Worse than the "evolution" explanation for the X-Men.
Neither the SI nor Grayven have either the slightest idea or any desire to find out.
We know Grayven plans to kill more Chaos Lords. He doesn't seem at all worried that killing a Chaos Lord will kill elemental chaos across the universe. Seems pretty analogous.
Why Krona viewing the beginning of the universe was a bad thing has had different reasons in the comics. One of them I found interesting is that by so doing Krona broke the universe- Thanks to Krona's actions, entropy will win, and a new universe won't be born, like after the end of every other universe before it.
Conservation of energy isn't true in this setting. There's no fundamental reason advanced civilizations couldn't keep the universe running indefinitely.
I wonder if Paul would consider doing that with Red, based on the Titans universe version of the RLC seeking those with righteous fury. Given at the very least the Reach and Apokolips it seems a Red Lantern Corp devoted to taking down threats that sane people are comfortable being in total war with might be reasonable.
Two main problems I can see:

1. Red rings are even worse for your mental health than orange ones, and they don't have anyone on hand to guide people through red exposure like they do for orange.

2. They want to repel the Reach from lots of worlds, and they will also need to rebuild said worlds from the destruction the Reach did to them. Red rings are really bad at building things. Quite possibly the worst ring type for building things, although weapons might be an exception.

And they won't be lacking for sufficiently motivated fighters. Between the Darkstars and OLC, I doubt the number of fighters they have will be an issue. Getting people who can remain stable with rings might be a problem, but red rings would only make that worse.

How so? The Endless are personifications, concepts given form. The lords of order and chaos, in this setting, are beings mainlining concepts for a power up. The former is like Ion, personification of Willpower, the latter are like the guardians who have the midichlorians to manipulate the Glow of willpower.

Conservation of energy isn't true in this setting. There's no fundamental reason advanced civilizations couldn't keep the universe running indefinitely.

The fact that neither the guardians nor the lords of order have figured it out suggests there's a problem there. Also the fact that no previous universe managed it either, because there wouldn't be a new universe after the death of the old one if the old one never died.

I don't know about the Lord's of Order, but the Guardians already exploit limitless energy. Zoat has said that the emotional lights aren't able to run out of power. The Guardians are adding energy into the universe every time they make constructs. Making artificial suns just isn't much of a priority when the universe is still very young.

Edit: actually, might have misinterpreted this comment:
This had better not be a reference to that thing where it turns out that overusing power rings will eventually use up all the emotional energy in the universe and make reality collapse in on itself. And the previous universe stupided themselves to death by making their whole universe-spanning civilization out of lantern constructs instead of matter. And the only survivor was some guy named Relic.
No.

And Bleed tech was stated after the New Year's fight to disprove conservation of energy. Unless it has horrible scaling problems, it could continually add energy into the universe to stave off entropy.

Eh, I could be wrong. I don't care enough to look up stuff in enough detail to come up with a better answer.

No, he just wants out of the book of destiny, out of some weird belief that his Grayven impersonation fools destiny
Where did he even get the idea that he was in the book in the first place? I mean, ok, weak tangential evidence and all, but Zatanna couldn't get his name from the book of Destiny, suggesting it, and, thus, he, is not there.

Wasn't that Orange Lantern Paul?
I thought that at that point of the timeline Renegade and OL weren't that divergent and it happened for both of them? I might be wrong there. Still, one has to wonder where he got the idea that he was in the book in the first place (me personal pet idea is that OL is Delirium's plot to change herself for the better).

It's not explicitly stated, but the Renegade never revealed his name. They called him OL up until he took the name Grayven. The entire exchange may not have happened.

Also, if he knows about Destiny and all that, he would need a reason to believe he wasn't a part of destiny, as it should default to him being a part of destiny. Hell, we don't actually know that the SI is immune to destiny; we just know that Destiny didn't let Zatanna get his name from the book, not that he isn't there at all.

"What did you actually… Ugh."

I try making out what Mister Kipling is working on. The image is a little clearer now, but I'm a way off getting fine details. "Problem?"

"No, no, done. I don't know how you plan to wire your sword in, but the robot and the speaker are thoroughly bodged together."

"Right." I reach back with my right hand, take hold of my daiklave and spin it before jamming it point first into the stone floor.

"Hey! Less fancy swordplay when you can't see what you're doing!"

"Not an option. I'm the Apokoliptian God of Conquest. When I perform spiritual acts I must do so in a thematically appropriate mode, leaving my mark on the stone." I bend down, feeling along the blade. Open.

"What did you do to Derek? I didn't think anything could hurt him any more."

"See the little sword in my scabbard?" Ah, Apokoliptian technology. The wires exist purely to convey the idea of connection. I detach one from the Transferral Node and then gently feel around for a suitable connection point on the object Mister Kipling has put together.

"Yes. Wasn't that what you used to decapitate Klarion?"

I nod. "It was made to slay the First of the Fallen. Sabbac Two used it to cut off Captain Marvel's arms. I have yet to encounter a creature it can't harm."

"I thought he was invulnerable."

"I don't believe in invulnerability. I was a bit surprised by how much punishment he took-."

"Oh, the Eye knitted him back together after every hit. I was wondering how you finished him off. Stab to the brain as you did with Sabbac? Or was separating his head from the gem enough to prevent further regeneration?"

"No idea. I was blind at the time, so I just used your amulet." I find a suitable attachment point and stand, both hands going around my daiklave's hilt. "Okay, I'm probably going to need your help making this work. Watch what I'm doing and nudge it along if you see an-."

"My amulet?"

"Yes. Is there something wrong with that?"

"Puts us on a bit of a clock, yes. That thing is only designed to keep someone contained for a few minutes. The only reason why he isn't already free is because we're on our own demiplane."

"So did he get wiped or will he reappear the moment we break out?"

"The latter. Give it here, I'll see if I can-."

I shake my head. "I don't trust you that much."

"He'll know I've helped you. He won't consider saving myself to be an adequate excuse!"

"So are you.. going to ask me for sanctuary, or are you just planning on hiding and hoping it blows over?"

"As long as he doesn't see us together I'm sure that I can come up with something. He wasn't expecting me to actually fight you."

"I'll think about it. Now, let's focus on the job at hand." I tighten my grip around the hilt. This is the first time I've tried anything this complicated

He was right. I can feel the daiklave, the robot parts and -dimly- the castle itself. Ugh, the minuscule nature of this false universe makes me feel unwell as I try to make sense of it. No, no. I'm not the God of Intellect. Think like a conqueror. I stop feeling out the pattern and pull. I have taken this castle! Slain or subjugated its defenders! By Right of Conquest this is my domain!

The speaker crackles slightly as I feel the castle trying to resist. Doesn't feel directed at me in any sort of complex way, just the resistance of any system already in motion.

"Allow me, Mister Grayven. Just a… Little… Alteration…"

And everything snaps into focus. I still don't know what the parts of the system do and I'm not about to try fiddling with them. I might hit whatever it is that is keeping my ring inactive and I might hit whatever it is maintaining this demiplane and dump us into the Dreaming. Or worse, the Bleed. Instead, I try feeling outwards, letting my Conqueror's Ambition run wild. I will take all that is out there! Summon My Vassals!

"…ast as me, but he is far stronger than I am."

My eyes snap open as I hear Miss Amane's voice. Come on, keep talking.

"Iname, the man you are fighting is almost certainly the British superhero Tri-Man."

Glad that Doctor Robbins is keeping things organised.

"A superhero? No, tell me what he can do!"

"Enhanced speed, strength and augmented vision. Don't bother trying to hide."

"Understood."

"And avoid lethal force if at all possible! The last thing we need is a fight with Superman as well."

"Yes Ma'am."

I raise my eyebrows at Mister Kipling. "Anything you feel like sharing at this juncture?"

"Compartmentalisation is the name of the game, I'm afraid. I didn't even know other offensive operations were being planned."

"Mister Tawny, report."

"Tawny?"

"My Tiger." Actually, what exactly does she expect him to say?

"Forgive my taciturnity, Doctor." What? That's.. his voice, but without my ring I shouldn't get a translation. Since when can he speak English out loud? "Fighting giant invisible robots is not as easy as I make it look."

"You have a talking Tiger?"

"Apparently." And how is he working a radio with paws?

"Is Miss Selton safe?"

"Giant robot, so, no. She's not injured, and-. Ah, one moment. Bally blighter's trying to get clever."

I turn my head towards Mister Kipling. "Giant robot?"

"The Brain has a monstrous chassis. I've no idea why they thought it was a good idea to deploy it in Superman's home city."

He's not that hard to distract. Had one or two plans to arrange for that to happen myself. "Giant invisible robot?"

"Presumably they want plausible deniability. Oh, you mean 'how is it invisible'?"

"Yes."

"Technology derived from Crandell's gauntlet. Not really my department."

This sounds like a fight I should be involved in. I mean, I suppose the point of having competent subordinates is that they can fight without me watching over them the whole time… "Do you know where Vera Black is?"

"As far as I know she's still in the house you were trying to get to. With Chester around we were limited to using robotic drones for observation and couldn't risk a strike team being anywhere near the place."

"Would anyone else using a hush tube to get there end up here?"

"Not now, no. Why, did someone come through before you?"

"No." Find My Heir. "How about someone leaving it?"

"Wouldn't affect them."

"Attack a fooking school fulla fooking kids, will yeh?!"

Ah, good. Sounds like Chester's in fine form. And looking after Lynne. Must remember to thank him. "Any idea why your people are going after the Centre for Paranormal Research?"

"None."

"Alright, sounds like my people are managing. Any ideas on getting us out of here yet?"

**Daddy?**

If that's what you were trying to portray him doing you missed the mark or were a bit to obscure in your wording.

And you might want to include an explanation about how he knew what button on that metaphysical control panel to press.
I mean he's been fucking around with the control panel for the better part of the last in story year or so by now. He's a jackass, not an idiot.

He's been stuck in the bubble for a year?

Guess that's my mistake then, because if it took him that long to finally get through it works out fine since he would have had time to work at discovering how to do what he did instead of just randomly gaining the ability to do so like I thought.

So it might be less a case of transforming Hagen back but isolating and coming up with a counteragent to suppress the enzyme.

If it's alchemical, well since alchemy seems to have a penchant for making permanent alterations to one's soul here, then Hagen probably won't be getting cured.
In Young Justice it was alchemical, he was locked into a Lazarus Pit by Talia because he seduced her to get access to one and she found out his real motives. So she gave him what he wanted...

Oh they dun goofed. Ambushing Grayven could have been brushed under the table.

British superheroes leading an assault on a school in US SOIL? One the sitting president is watching already at the moment thanks to Grayven making him aware rogue SHADE agency has an interest in?

The British government is fooked

Hm, well, really all I have to say to SHADE UK at this point is one simple thing.

YER DOOM IS BEFORE YE!

Sadly, I'm not a gigantic scotsman wielding a rune marked sword stepping forth to oppose the shapeshifting master of evil, but I think I get the idea across.
