"Because there's a rather nasty war going on down there. And once the three of you have decided on your moral beliefs, you're going to stop it in accordance with them."

he's using a bloody civil war as practice. I can kinda see where he's coming from, it's just common sense to assume the first time somone does anything it's going to be a mess, so having 3 young gods have there first act of divine intervention be in a situation where they would have to massively screw up to make things worse makes sense, In a cold hearted bastard kind of way. It's a very grayven way of driving home the lesson that power massively magnifies the impact of there actions under semi controlled circumstances.

This is going exactly where I thought this would. It's looking very interesting. Also, just like Grayven to make his student's first practical assignment something so difficult with so many permanent consequences.

Medusa with a Cyclops visor. Have a secondary hard-blind visor she can flip down when the spell eater one heats up too much, then remove the spell eater and install a fresh one.
I have to wonder if that might be combined with a holo-mask (like the photostatic veils in the MCU, but with either tech or magic) to make the visor appear invisible, without the curse simply transferring its effects to the hologram's/illusion's false eye images.

It's a bit of a complicated setup, but the hard-blind visor would be closest to the eyes, then the spell eater visor, then the false image on top. A fourth option would be to rig up an echolocation visor (on the inside of the hard-blind) or brain implant, so that she can still see (-ish) even when the hard blind is active.

I'm sure they're very rational people who will set their differences aside when those three come along.

One of them is someone given Speed formula and then Ascended, and the other has enough magical oomph to be on the road to the latter on dint of her own might.

I am going to guess that since Grayven is making them decide their plan before pulling the trigger that things are going to be over, very, very quickly.

The Justice League may well come knocking in short order, but that just leaves the question of how far along the "fait accompli to smoking crater" line things are when they do.

I strongly suspect that the second assignment will be helping him fix as much of there mess as possible. Helps them understand there mistakes and drive home the point that for all there flaws they can make the world a better place.

She nods. I'm glad that Miss Amane isn't some sort of mindlessly obedient death puppy, but I… Probably should have thought through what I was going to do with her a little better than I did. At least she's replaced that nice looking but impractical Apokolips tech scythe with an Apokolips tech war scythe. I didn't want to instruct her in her choice of weapon because she would have obeyed without question, but when I showed her a few variants that she might 'find more practical in some circumstances' she jumped at it right away.
One of the more gratifying things about this story is the MC's ability to acknowledge that he didn't actually think things through.
And to hopefully improve on it.

"Sun horse?" Miss Amane looks at Miss Shimmer in puzzlement for a moment, then her eyes widen and she looks back at me with her hands over her mouth.
Oh, she was afraid because she interrupted Grayven and expected retribution?
Looks like his interpersonal relationships need more work.

Speaking of, I kinda remember him dannering Adom, and speculating how it could affect Adom's enhanced form (additive, multiplicative or no effect). Was it ever clarified what the end result was?
Mr Zoat has mentioned that they've had difficulty measuring if there was any difference since Adom's so strong already.

The beam of war with Chrysalis suggested 'not very' but I'm not about to treat an animation in which none of the characters have genitals or arseholes as entirely reliable.
Well that part at least has to be unreliable or Grayven would have already had to address some really, really awkward "What in the world are these things for?" questions from Shimmer.

;)

If you think a civil war that is based on tribal differences and amounts to "you are not us, so YOU MUST DIE" is going to be put on hold because somebody with powers shows up, I have some bad news for you.
Especially since none of them are spectacular enough that most people will even realize they've shown up before they do whatever they've decided they will do. None of them are fifty feet tall and on fire or anything. Nobody is going to stop fighting just because someone has shown up without them even realizing it.

Amusingly it occurs to me that OL might well be able to manage it, just by showing up in his Doom Fortress. A giant flying fortress is spectacular enough that everyone might well stop fighting and start gaping.

Graven:" And if your personal beliefs don't stand up to the trauma? Well. We'll keep doing this until you find something that survives the test.

It's for Science!
Because she interrupted Grayvy.
And realised that she interrupted Grayvy.
She still automatically defers to him like a young child to a parent, and he hasn't broken her of it.
Graven: "Not my fault. She was like this when I got her.. No. I do not mean during the Tentacle Ogre phase.
