You guys really need to drop a pile of Omakes on Kaoru. Getting her to Elite is critical, because her song should be strengthened enough to lolnope a Class Threes grief aura for veterans (it halfed it when she was only a veteran), allowing you guys to deploy massive amounts of tandem-casting Veterans to Demon Battles alongside the Elites. 6 Barrier Girls Tandem-Casting should allow for one hell of a bunker, within which you can deploy Clairvoyants tandem-casting to find the Demons, Healers to top of wounded Elites and a safe base for Teleporters. Would make things massively easier for the Elites.

Yeah... we did. Three omakes to be exact. Plus some additional fluff that us another bonus on top of that...

I got one maybe two more Kaoru training omakes sketched out. I'm just so beat right now, I'm spending most of my creative energy at work.

Well, I think that went fairly well overall, but it is a warning that we can't get complacent.

Doing a quick numbers rundown. Version 1 if Seto's group doesn't join us (ie: same as previously planned), version 2 if they do.

1) 3 elite, 11 vets, 62.4 harvest
2) 3 elite, 13.5 vets, 72.3 harvest (Assuming ~DS+5 in Seto's area, and no merges until North and Seto are aligned DS+0. Long-term average should be ~79, including the rural area.)

Admin/Jobs total at a minimum of 15 vets and 8 greens, plus add 1 vet for Sports Day

Remainder:
1) 1 elite, 10 vets
2) 2 elites, 13 vets, 3 greens

Advanced combat training: Kyouko + 1 vet to start, probably

Tandem casting research: probably 3 vets, maybe 3 + green

Advanced demon detection research: 2-3 vets

Optimized team construction: 1-2 vets

Expanded information gathering: 1 vet to live on the internet searching for indications of magical girl groups/forums/newslists/whatever, and start making contact

We can manage that with 10 vets, though we might have to squeeze a bit if Seto doesn't join us and we need another turn of Mami at the restaurant. All diplomacy actions would be dropped if Seto doesn't join (except maybe for an action to actually try to get her to join, assuming it wasn't flatly refused this turn), though we can still do information sharing with areas 1 and 13, and maybe 3, 4 and 10, since those don't cost meguca.

Basically, I figure we're probably going to heavily focus on research and training for a while, given this wake-up call, and we have sufficient people to do so, but we'll have to drop any thoughts of certain other research paths, and diplomatic outreach will be weak. Things may streamline a bit once we can consolidate some of the various training stuff.

[x] Split cubes between the groups, 7 for each.
-[x] Even if we brought more people to the fight, we would never have even known it was coming if not for your warning, and the tragedy of your losses. A few cubes can hardly pay for that, but still..
-[X] Make sure Seto is doing okay and isn't too shook up over loosing a leg. Express concern and comfort. Also thank her for distracting the demon long enough that Mami and Kyouko where able to beat it. That was a very brave and risky thing to do.
-[X] Tell Seto that you are glad you were all able to work together and defeat the demon with out anyone else dying.
[x] We've allowed ourselves to relax in what we thought was a comfortable, if difficult, world. We'll be focusing our time on improving our training and more in-depth research so that we can better defend against these threats in the future.
[x] While it may be presumptuous, you are more than welcome to join us, to work towards a better future. If you do not wish to, however, that's perfectly fine; you're a capable leader, and have clearly done well for the girls following you, regardless of this tragedy. You can still always consider us your friends.
[x] If they do join: Request the names of their fallen, and add them to the memorial shrine.

I think I would prefer Improved Rotating Tactics over this.
Improved Rotating Tactics would be a research topic, I think, since we need a finer understanding of the exact effects of demon adaptation, propagation rates, etc. It might also follow up on the Advanced Demon Detection research, since it would seem to be of a very similar nature.

Advanced Combat Training is a flat out replacement for our Basic Combat Training. However it mixes with several other upkeep and asset items, so is hard to say exactly what we'll end up with at the end. Basic Combat Training, for example, is an asset, not an upkeep item, but we'll need actual training for at least a bit to upgrade it.

In any case, we'll still need to see what's actually allowed, what will have prerequisites, etc, from helix before we can commit.

Tandem Casting Special Teams ideas

Enhancing single powers:
  • Barrier girls : Heavy-duty bunker defense
  • Clairvoyants : Penetrate stealth, massive range
  • Stealth : Super stealth
  • Teleporters : Mass teleport (AOE instead of contact, greater numbers), high range

Combining powers:
  • Telepath+Clairvoyant : Remote viewing, and transmitting that view to anyone else; mini-map HUD?
  • Barrier+Teleporter : Barrier against teleportation
  • Barrier+Clairvoyant : Anti-scrying
  • Barrier+Healer : An 'organic' barrier that can heal its damage, instead of just being shattered
  • Healer+Barrier : Certain specialty healing effects (prevent the spread of demonic poisons, etc)
  • Barrier+Teleporter+Clairvoyant : Remote barriers
  • Healer+Stealth : Disguised magical healing
  • Healer+Cooking : Mom's chicken soup really does help cure you!

That's about all I can think of right now. Most anything else would be a general, "every girl has to be able to cast tandem magic with every other girl, at least a little bit".

Getting enchantment up to a level where we can infuse these effects in permanent objects would be really nice, too. So much to research....

Actually, when you consider that she didn't want to split the operation costs, it means that we can't deduct the operation costs from the reward, as that's effectively splitting the costs between us, which is what we agreed not to do.
She was also okay with you keeping the full reward, so that's not really a big concern.
Tandem Casting Special Teams ideas
See all sorts of fun ideas. I kind of expected when the poachers revealed you could tandem cast people would latch on to that immediately. Rather than me having to bring it up repeatedly. People have speculated that any other groups you ran into would have their own training and equipment, and then you ran into a case of it.

-[X] Point out that Kyubey said there are a lot more of these super demons in Tokyo, and offer a formal agreement that our two groups will aid each other if any other demon of this type arrives in either group's area.
--[X] Suggest that the two groups ought to have some more experience working together so that we can deal with any future demons like this in a more co-operative fashion. Propose a joint training exercise next month.

Let's go a little slow on the assimilation push. I think a direct offer of assimilation will be rejected and put Seto on guard. Get everyone in Seto's group a little more familiar and friendly with us. Let them see a bit more how much higher quality our equipment is, and how many more girls we have. Oh and let the rumors start spreading about how we haven't lost a single girl in over a year. At some point Seto's girls are going to start asking her why they don't just merge with us.

Should we make her a gift of the Kevlar clothing? Might be a way to further encourage assimilation. Whenever Seto wears the armor she'll be thinking of us, and there will be a desire to get more Kevlar for her other girls.

(The Kevlar clothing is probably damaged anyways if she lost a leg).

Hmm.. I just had an interesting idea for an omake between Taura and Karou... definitely might write something tonight, not sure if it will be enough to post yet though.

Yeah, but I figure we're not really considering that.

When I saw it, I was only thinking of it as a specialty of those particular girls, as there was some indication that they were like sisters or something? Well, something indicating some sort of special bond, which was what I figured was the basis for their dual-casting. I didn't even consider it as something to be trained.

Let's go a little slow on the assimilation push.
Reasonable. Would not object to slowing down. The main reason I wanted to push, though, was to get their names on the shrine, and maybe give their shielder something to hold on to so she doesn't fade entirely.

Note that we actually have two girls who share everything. And Helix has been hitting us over the head with them too.

Actually, something we might want to try is give the girls a cube ration for personal training in whatever they want to train in. Might have something surprising come out of that.

I suppose we could ask for the names and add them to the shrine without asking them to join. Maybe invite the shielder to put some of the names on the shrine? And hold a little memorial.

Might be useful to remind our girls of the real dangers of being a magical girl too.

EDIT: Something like this:

[] Tell Seto that you are glad you were all able to work together and defeat the demon with out anyone else dying. Mention that you have a little shrine to magical girls that have died, and invite her and her team to come and add the names of the girls that died to the memorial with a little ceremony.

Haman suggested they were sisters and I said it sounded reasonable or something like that.
I didn't even consider it as something to be trained.
Most things you can imagine can theoretically be researched and trained. Though some of them might take lengths of time and resources that make it impossible in practice.

Note that we actually have two girls who share everything.
You mean the two girls that got the easy office job based on their parents? Might or might not be sisters? Hmm.

As Aran mentions, that sounds pretty much exactly like Fun With Magic. And random stuff is supposed to come out of that, as well.

Added a couple of Haman's lines to mine. Still not sure on exactly which way to fall on whether to invite them or not. Honestly, would probably prefer to just let Mami make the call based on how she reads things. She'll be far more tactful than us, regardless.

[x] Have Mami decide whether or not to invite Seto's group to join depending on her read on the situation.
