Raven has said multiple times this is a fun quest. Not a hard mode quest. So that point is bunk.
I understand this is to be fun but there will be line when dumb things will fuck us over in a bad way you can still lose a easy game. Taylor it will not always be fun even more so if Luffy's dumbness nearly kills not only her but her friends.
Of course Luffy isn't ready to be the Captain on a maturity level. He'll grow into the role. And Taylor and Zoro will be there to back him up, and encourage that with our choices.
When does this happen? is this before or after Ash Ketchum becomes competent and grows up? Because if, so I need to start watching Pokémon again sounds badass. Last i saw even after his brothers death this has not happened. Taylor may have patience, but she does not have a year of it. She is more of a grow up quick kind of girl. Luffy is 17 and Taylor would be able to see this Luffy acts like a 13-year-old.
To Luffy, the King of the Pirates is the most free man. And what he wants to do with that freedom is have adventures with his friends and eat meat. Sounds simple but that means protecting his friends and helping their dreams too. His dream is backed by the Will of D. Don't underestimate him as someone the crew can rely on when it really matters.
And this is why she needs to explain to him what the King of the Pirates is at this time he is the king of rape, the king of pillage, the king of slaving. Remember the king of the Pirates represents all pirates any action committed by your kingdom is action accepted by your king unless he puts a end to it.
Know who else dream is backed by the Will of D? Garp. Know who the last King of the Pirates asked to raise his son?

On this note also there is no reason to yet be a Pirate till he gets to the point where he punches a prince of the world government. A: it is far easier to move around when you don't have a massive bounty on your head.B: There is no reason to be a enemy of the Navy/world government yet and if Luffy was a good Captain and wanted to "
protect his friends and helping their dreams too" he would bide his time till the right moment or there was little other choice but to kick the bees hive. But he is not. Only though Taylor's action do they not yet have a bounty.
Oh, there's no reason Nami can't keep managing the money. She's good at it. But that doesn't mean she needs a command position to do that. And there is no denying the simple truth that Nami is money obsessed. It sure as hell doesn't make me want her to have a position of leadership.
By giving Nami a command position she would not have to be as nasty about it. also we are not giving her Captain position. She would have a leash on her hording. Also her greed tempers out after her time skip. She is after money but the reason she does so changes.
As for Taylor and control. Needing absolute control is not healthy. All the more reason for her to be second in command to Luffy, who can delegate things to her, and she can delegate in turn. She still has control, but not absolute. Baby steps.
I agree that Needing absolute control is not healthy. But there is a galaxy span between reducing control and then giving up control to be under Luffy the 17-year old that mentally is 12 and has not even lost his brother yet.
heck if we play our cards right maybe Garp will become an Admiral and have the pull to save his family if shit hits the fan or destroy it from the inside out.
