Chapter Sixty-Eight
Taylor ran aboard the Bast's Pride--Tashigi hot on her heels--to find the ship... surprisingly calm. Her bugs were minding their own business in their part of the ship, with only a few curious bees poking at the flowers she had been planting.
Zoro was napping, Kaya was modelling her purchases in front of an eager crowd made up of a panting Sanji and a Sogeking that was currently knocked out and bleeding through the nose holes of his mask. Queenie was on her back, feet in the air so that the sun could warm up her tummy. Her precious book was sitting right next to her, still closed and waiting for Taylor to read it. Nami was on the forward deck, humming to herself as she tied a green-haired boy in place with some ropes.
The last was cause for some concern.
"This way," Taylor said as she led Tashigi to the fore of the ship. Nami looked up and waved at them when they approached.
"Hello Taylor, hello Taylor's friend," Nami said. "You're just in time."
"Um," Tashigi said. "As a member of the local branch of the Marines, I'm obligated to ask you what you're doing with that man," Tashigi said.
"Right now I'm making sure he can't get away. In a moment I'm going to start asking him questions, such as why he thought it was a good idea to try and rob me and where he and his bandit friends--because there's never just one cockroach--hide their goods. Then me and Taylor here can go act like treasure hunters." Nami's smile was so bright and cheerful it was easy to forget that she had just idly suggested something that sounded fairly close to torture.
"Ah," Tashigi said. "That's... I'm not sure how legal that would be."
"We can bring you along. You're a Marine, right?" Nami asked.
Taylor was prepared to step in and put an end to the argument when the Bast wobbled as Luffy landed on the main deck. "We need to move!" he screamed.
Taylor was moving already. Bugs rushing towards the ropes holding them in place already.
"What is it?" Nami asked.
"Garp, Garp is coming!" Luffy screamed as he bounced up and started untying the rigging to reveal their sails.
"Oh, crap," Nami said as she started running. "Zoro, wake up! Sanji, Sogeking, get your butts into gear! We're going to be sailing out into a storm."
The crew scrambled. Taylor did what she could with only one arm, but most of the help she provided came from the veritable army of crabs scuttling across the rigging and undoing knots and retying lines.
Tashigi stood by the green-haired mugger, looking like a lost puppy as she tried to figure out what to do.
Taylor ran over to her. "Don't worry. We can lower one of our little dinghies. You can row back to shore in no time. You can take greenie over there with you."
"Oh, okay, good," Tashigi said. "I can help then!"
They managed to pull out of the docks in record time, which probably said something about their crew. Then the few bugs left near the shore caught a commotion and Taylor turned to see the huge white form of Monkey D. Garp walking down a pier.
"Oh crap," Taylor said. She rushed to the small boat in the middle of the deck and started undoing the ropes holding it in place. "Tashigi, come help me!" she called out. The two of them together were able to get the little boat moving towards the rails when a scream sounded out across the ocean.
"Luffy!"
Everyone froze for a bare second, and Taylor realized what it probably felt like for others to hear her strange voice. Fortunately, other than Tashigi who ended up on her knees and the green-haired boy who woke up with a start and started screaming invectives at all of them, no one in the crew was unable to keep working.
"Luffy! I'm sorry about your ship!" Garp said. "I'll buy your friends a new one!"
Taylor wondered what he ment. Then her bugs saw him lift a length of wood three times as long as he was tall and as thick around as Taylor's entire torso. It was one of many from a stack set aside by soom carpenters.
The Vice-Admiral flung the wood like a javelin.
"Oh shit," Taylor said.
Then lightning out of a clear sky flashed out and with a buzzing boom the piece of wood exploded out of the air.
Luffy jumped onto one of the rails and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry grandpa!" He screamed so loud that everyone on the shore must have heard. "But I'm going to be the King of the Pirates!"
The declaration made the air itself still.
"Holy shit," the green-haired mugger said.
"Oh no," Tashigi wept.
The Bast's Pride bobbed along, sailing away from Loguetown with alacrity. Then Garp, who apparently didn't give a damn about physics in his blinding rage, jumped over thin air, hopping forwards like a hyperactive bunny rabbit in a way that would have looked silly if it didn't mean he was catching up to them.
"Move faster!" Luffy yelled in growing panic.
Garp crashed onto the rear deck of the Bast.
He landed on Queenie's book.
[Idiot Human!]
Garp grunted, then stepped off the book to reveal two bootprints stomped into the illustrated cover. He shoved it aside with a foot, which made the book flip over and loosened a few pages with a tear.
[He Dares!]
The Vice-Admiral placed his hands on his hips and stood tall and proud before them all. "We're going back to shore, every last one of you ruffians," he declared.
[No.]
Garp and everyone else turned to stare at Queenie as she got back to her many feet. She glared at the admiral. The air went cold.
Queenie hissed.
Garp's eyes rolled up into his head and foam frothed out of his mouth.
[Avatar's Hiss is Most Impressive.]
"Holy shit," the green-haired mugger said, again.
"Toss him off the side!" Luffy said.
"We're not going to kill a Vice-Admiral, even if he's your grandpa," Nami said.
Taylor couldn't help it. It was the stupidest, most ridiculous series of events she had ever seen over the course of her already long and stuid career. "Bzz," she chuckled. "Bzz, bzz bzz bzz bzz bzz," she felt onto the deck, hands clutching at her stomach as she laughed, accompanied by her entire swarm.
"Someone broke Taylor!" Kaya shouted.
"Storm ahead!" Nami screamed.
They sailed into a storm accompanied by the laughter of a million bugs on one very lost girl.

The last vote was a Skill + New Skill vote, so the next should be a Skill x 2 vote!
That'll happen in a little while. I need to make new character sheets for our three (3!) new 'crewmates.'
Also, don't worry, Garp isn't a permanent member, nor is Tashigi unless you work to convince her to stick around. Bart... well he doesn't have much of a choice.
