This makes the most sense in the way of, this is Luffy's crew but no one is allowed to fuck this up not even Luffy.

I have a soft spot for the classic line up. Also Nami is always in control no matter her position.

Honestly I can see Taylor and Zoro sharing a nebulous and mostly undefined position of authority in that when they speak people listen. With Taylor being the more active.

You know, I was kinda sad we didn't pick Sunny earlier. Now I'm kind of sad for a different reason.

Huh, I'm kinda surprised nobody is voting for Taylor as captain. I mean, I get it, but still. Eh, chances are she'll end with most of the administrative authority regardless, and Luffy just points the way.

I know in canon zoro is the first mate, but then I try to think of anytime he was actually in charge and I fail

Would Taylor want to be captain though? She's always been fine working with and under people she's respected before.
She's also fine leading if necessary, especially when nobody else is good enough. But, like I said, it makes sense either way, as long as she's at least second-in-command. Luffy's got the charisma to make up for his actual commanding deficiency.

Kinda of surprised too.

Luffy is... kind of incompetent as a captain. He doesn't know the first thing about the role.

If Taylor tries to be captain. Luffy and her would have to fight for it. And as it stands currently she would lose that badly.

I can't picture Taylor wanting to in this world. My thoughts on the matter is the Captain decides the overall direction the crew is going to take, so having massive charisma, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire respect is essential . Taylor's a bit too terrifying, both in thoughts and in actions, to actually inspire the lighthearted dreams that populate One Piece, whereas Luffy excels in that The second position however (the First Mate I guess) ensures that the ship and crew are best suited to protecting themselves and whatever the current goal is. So Luffy inspires the crew towards the future, while Taylor keeps them safe and directed in the present. Nami as third is mostly because she also has a good mix between caution and action and she is a currently unpowered member of the crew so she provides that perspective.

I admit I'm a fan of the classic lineup as well. Not that I wouldn't like Nami as the third, but she's always struck me as someone who wants to work in the background anyways. You know she gets invited to all the command anyways since she holds the purse.

I should be interested in the ex-pirate's story, I'm just not.

I guess it's because it wouldn't feel right if he wasn't? Being Captain means a lot to Luffy and a lot of Taylor's issues involve her needing to be in control or have power, and I guess I would like Taylor to reach a point where she's okay letting that go?

I deeply love Zoro but the man isn't exactly command material. And Luffy feels the need to be captain on account of his dream.
