A omake about the Olympians theorizing about us being the one in the prophecy. Would they make Demeter make a oath of not having children because of that theory. I doubt that since she already have other children that can fit the prophecy and none activated it yet. I thing they would to a wait and see approach. Demeter would say in our defense that we are a prodigy since it was shown with our grade we are in. Plus the place we live those help in our growth (not the concept). So us having a talent with our power would not be surprise with that argument. Good thing we only show that we can only grow them faster and more durable in the game. Also Demeter children make the most constant money for the camp.
I will admit that it's not really even a choice, but I did need a good spot to end the chapter, and I suppose giving you two weeks to contemplate the Prophecy isn't the worst decision I've ever made.

-[x] It's cool, Persephone sent me a message this last year. And lots of flowers, just so many. I've just been waiting for the inevitable quest. No. of Votes: 3
[50][Quest!] Go! You go with Blossom (and one other person) to "seek springtime's basket"
"I'm going," you say, leaving no room for argument. It's not even really a question for you.
Several people look like they want to argue, including Sean and the new Ares head counselor, but Chiron signals for silence and he receives it. He looks down at you with worried eyes. "Are you sure, Sam? You have at least a day to consider it."
"I'm sure."
Chiron closes his eyes in acceptance. After a long moment, he turns to face the counselors. "It is decided. I will teach Blossom all that she can learn and help her choose the last member of her group. Lily, I trust you will take care of Sam on the morrow."
Lily nods solemnly.
"That is all for tonight. Go back to your cabins and turn the lights out. It's already past curfew."
The next morning, Lily takes you over to the Hephaestus Cabin as Willow takes Kalina and Rosie out into the strawberry fields.
When you get there, you go inside and see Raj waiting for you, with a warmed up forge, a hammer and anvil, and several ingots of celestial bronze.
"You're lucky kid," one of the other Hephaestus kids comments, "Raj is the best weaponsmith in camp."
Raj grins and shoots back, "It's probably because I don't make idle chatter while I'm working." He looks back to you and holds out his hand, palm up. "Let me see your weapon."
You dutifully hand over the shattered half-sword you've been using.
"Hmm, blunt on the outside, blade on the inside, an unusual style. You want one like this?"
[][Weapon] Yes.

"I'll have it ready by the end of the day," Raj tells you. You and Lily take the dismissal for what it is and leave the cabin, heading to the campus store. It's manned by one of the Hermes kids whose name you don't know. He takes one look at Lily and pulls out a drawstring bag. Lily glares at him. He pales. She glares harder. He starts to sweat and casually drops a few drachmas and 2 $100 bills into the bag. Lily opens it and gives it a once over before handing it to you as she leads you out of the store.
"Since Blossom is busy with Chiron and the quest doesn't have a third member yet, I'm putting you in charge of supplies. That bag has granola bars and water, as well as $200, and 15 Drachmas. It'll be up to you to pack clothes for yourself, I would only grab a change or two Chiron will handle your bus tickets when you figure out where you're going."
"Are quests normally like this?"
"Usually they give you some idea of where you're going, but unfortunately 'the golden sea' could be a lot of different places. Have you given any thought to who you want to be your third member?"
"Isn't Blossom going to decide that?"
Lily scoffs. "As if she'd make that sort of decision without asking you first."
You shrug, you hadn't considered it. "Well, something to think about," the lunch horn sounds, "while we eat."
You wind up meeting with Chiron and Blossom on the way to the mess hall. Blossom is fingering a gun. You can't actually tell anything about it other than that it is a handgun, but it's pretty easy to infer that Chiron is probably training her to use it as a weapon. It's probably the only weapon she could feasibly use, and you vaguely remember something about guns being the great equalizer. The only thing that remains to be seen is how much ammo she is going to be given.
"You're going to use a gun?" you ask her.
"Yeah, Chiron's been showing me the proper safety and usage techniques, but it mostly just seems like point and shoot."
"How's your aim?"
"It's ok when I can brace myself on something, even a crutch, but otherwise it's pretty poor. At least I have something though."
"Fair enough."
"I'm still not sure who to pick for the third member. The only people I interact with on a regular basis are you, Rosie, and Kurt."
"Who's Kurt?"
"He's a son of Athena, we mostly hang out at the arts and crafts center though, so I've never seen him fight."
"Ok," you take a moment to consider, Rosie's skillset overlaps far too much with your own. Ideally, you'd bring someone like Justin or Lily, but you expect that Justin will want to stay at camp. Lily might agree to go with you, but she also might want to stay back at camp to train Willow. Plus, her skillset deals with archery, and you are sorely lacking a melee fighter. Violet could fill it in, but she seems a tad reckless.
"Normally," you turn and see that Anne has apparently been listening in to your conversation as she guides her cabin to lunch, "the third member would be a satyr, but since neither of you were escorted to camp by one, and Sam can fill the role of 'nature magician' quite well, you most likely won't be assigned one."
"Oh, ok. Actually, do you know if Kurt is any good at fighting?" you remember to ask.
"He's decent with his daggers, but that's not the only thing that's important in a quest."
"What else would we need?" Blossom asks.
"Knowledge," Anne says, pointing to her temple. "Sam here may be pretty smart, but I doubt either of you are as well-versed in Greek myth as you should be." You have to concede the point, sort-of. If you'd known that you were going to end up going on a quest, then you would have spent more time reviewing your mythology.
After lunch, You, Blossom, Lily, and Anne are taken to the amphitheater by Chiron.
You see a couple of people, mainly Athena and Hermes kids scoot closer when they see you, probably in an attempt to eavesdrop.
"Now," Chiron begins, "you two know the prophecy, but you haven't had a chance to glean any meaning from it. Anne?"
"Alright," Anne says, sounding downright cheerful, "let's start from the first part." You decide that cheerfulness doesn't suit Anne very well. "Springtime's Basket seems like it could mean a lot of things, but there are actually very few things associated with both the Goddess of Spring and baskets. In fact, I'm quite sure that you're supposed to collect the flowers that she was gathering when she was abducted. That or you're supposed to find the basket, but the last line seems to imply flowers. Oh yes, I was going to go in order."
You take a moment to process Anne's rapid-fire analysis, and as such, miss part of it.
"-since you both have divine mothers, it's rather difficult to pin down any 'Mother's gift. I couldn't get anything from the fourth line. The fifth line, however, is possibly the most important, because it gives a location."
"So, where is the golden sea?"
"Well, there are several places it could be in the US alone-"
"Like the Mojave Desert," you offer.
"Yup!" she agrees brightly. "Normally, I'd suggest you try and match the legend, but…" she trails off.
Chiron picks up where she leaves off. "Demigods are not normally given quests that take them to the Old World."
You and Blossom accept the explanation without comment.
"I believe that you are most likely headed to the Fields of Demeter in Kansas, though it is up to you to decide where you are headed."

You hide, feeling the familiar presence move about the area. It's looking for you. It's been watching you this whole time. Hopefully, it'll pass you by again, and you can move in the other direction. The thought of fighting it never entered your mind. You were absolutely sure that you would lose if you ever had to fight it. You felt it pass by you, and your heart swelled with hope.
It stopped.
The ground opened up underneath you, and you fell.
You woke up with a gasp, finding yourself covered in cold sweat. That was the third time you had that nightmare, it started differently each time. Sometimes you were running, or even searching for someone or something, but it always ended the same.

I've literally fired a real gun one time, and it was a shotgun for shooting clay pigeons. I don't actually know anything about guns, so feel free to correct me.
I have to admit, I'm not sure if I'm any good at this 'foreshadowing' thing, but at least practice makes perfect, right?
Well considering the prophecy (golden sea and flowers curse) our destination should probably be in the Mojave area. Granted we're on the east coast so going through Midwest fields has to happen anyways

I know, I know, our buddy recommended against the scythe. Buts it's kind of late to get a beginners training in anything else, and if we stick with it eventually we'll have a weapons proficiency most aren't prepared for.
Mojave because I'm feeling desert adventure. Kurt because we don't know him at all. I figure either we bond under fire, or he's prime redshirt material. Although if someone really has to die I think we should go for it, maximum martyrdom. Be the hero.

Pretty accurate. Handguns take longer to get good at shooting than rifles/shotguns* but considering demigods are superhuman she should be good enough. It's mostly a weapon for relatively close ranges though so don't have her hitting things across a football field.
Might want to show her struggling to get bullets into the magazine -- it's not that hard once you get used to it, but someone just starting out will be dropping some when they try.
*mostly because the slight motions of your hands and pulling the trigger wrong have more effect on your shot since the gun smaller.
Chiron recommended changing our weapon. We should so so. If we get a sword of a similar weight as our current weapon, I don't think it will be too much of a problem.
Plus, our instructor can teach us more applicable skills, since Justin himself uses a sword.

I know, we don't have the best impression of him, but hear me out. He is a skilled fighter, something we sorely need. He is a child of Apollo and should have a reasonable amount of knowledge about Greek Mythology. Plus, he's older, so if we ever need to do anything in this quest like book a hotel, it won't look as dodgy as a bunch of 12 year olds trying to book a hotel.

We are going to meet Persephone on this quest
Also, we missed some of Anne's explanation. I'm pretty sure the part we missed was about Persephone (and maybe some other possibilities), so can anyone come up with a way to ask Blossom/Anne to repeat that info?
Or will it be an option in the next chapter.
We're a prodigy though, so I think we will ask ourselves, because leaving such gaps in information would be pretty stupid.
Are we sure we want to go to the Mojave Desert? Considering most of our arsenal requires plants to be in the immediate vicinity, a desert isn't the best of locations.

Spears are better than war scythes in nearly every way.
Kansas is only a small detour if we actually have to go to the Mojave, but I would rather check out the closer place first since if shit goes wrong we can get back faster
