Still, given the severe loss of AP, Hyacinth clearly doesn't want to talk about Cara. I don't want to upset her or Moira just because it'll be interesting.

Edit: If I didn't point out the 30 AP extra Hyacinth was suppose to have, asking about Cara would of put her at negative 10 AP.

So you could ask to be Hyacinth's friend but that would be weird to just outright ask. Or you could ask if she remembered what happened last night but Moira is standing there.

How about not directly asking to be friends. Helping her stand-up for herself first.
What would be the AP on this?

This is actually how I'd like write-ins to work. The choices I give are broad and with the write-in you can specify how you'd like Nys to take an action or ask a question.

Asking Moira for help would be a positive ap amount. Since my option would be too tactless for Hyacinth.

Basically with the write ins you can modify any of the options I give or write in your own.
 
@Dahne: Wait, so what exactly does "Befriend Hyacinth" entails? The +30 AP implies we aren't scaring her off, and you already said there'll be a conversation. Plus Nys remembers her, so I figure Nys would avoid being blatant or outright say "Let's be friends".
 
@Kkutlord No matter what there will be a conversation with Hyacinth, unless someone wrote in, leave Hyacinth alone and everyone voted for it.

Befriending Hyacinth is already positive so it doesn't necessarily have to be changed. My options usually play out how I think Nys will handle the situation.

So Befriending Hyacinth could be Nys talking to her and getting to know her or it could be Nys trying to talk to her and making it awkward. But the conversation mechanic can always allow you to salvage the situation Nys puts herself into. I hope that makes sense.

So even high AP choices might not play out the way you'd think, but there will always be a way to change the situation.

    "You should come to lunch with us," Nys said as she suddenly got the idea.

    "I-I shouldn't," Hyacinth stammered. She was becoming nervous already and Nys wasn't sure how to calm her. Hyacinth was definitely the girl from yesterday, which meant she'd be attacked again.

    "Come on, we don't bite." Moira smiled gently at the young girl.

    Hyacinth looked at Moira then at Nys that was nodding in agreement with Moira, "I don't want to be a nuisance."

    "Don't be silly we wouldn't invite you if we didn't want you to come." Nys started ushering her out of the bathroom.

    "I didn't think I would ever meet one of the Stars of Luxarc," Nys said peeling an apple. The three of them were eating lunch together.

    "It's not that special," Hyacinth said stirring her soup.

    "It's a lot of hard work and very competitive," Moira explained.

    Hyacinth nodded, "I don't have a lot of time outside. I mostly study. You wouldn't want to be a Star."

    Nys wondered if that was why the girl was at the park so late at night. Did she work that much to stay ahead of everyone else? It seemed pointless to Nys, but she wasn't in the girl's shoes. Maybe it was more to it than she knew, but for a fourteen-year-old girl to be under so much pressure to succeed. It concerned Nys.

    "I don't think I could keep up with that lifestyle," Nys said taking a sip of her water.

    Hyacinth giggled, "It is grueling."

    "So what do you do for fun?" Moira said curiously.

    "Study." the girl was being serious and Nys felt her skin crawl. Hyacinth was too young to be devoting her life so completely. Nys couldn't picture being so tied up.

    "Really?" Nys said.

    "Of course not. I may be a Star but I like to have fun too." Hyacinth said winking at Moira.

    The dark-haired woman smiled and turned her attention to her lunch, while Nys looked pensive.

    "What do you do for fun?" Nys felt like she needed to know. It was prying into things she had no business knowing about but she felt like Hyacinth was lying. The girl was attacked by a monster because she was depressed, she very well may only study day in and day out.

    "I do gardening on my days off." the young girl said looking over to Nys with a questioning look.

    "Oh, sorry. I-I'm just nosy." Nys said looking back down at her lunch. She was being too rude.

    "It's okay," Hyacinth assured her before taking another bite.

    "You should do your best to stay away from Cara," Moira said placing her spoon on her napkin. Her manners as impeccable as always, "She's probably feeling angry since she was humiliated."

    Hyacinth stopped eating and her body tensed as soon as the bully was brought up, "T-thank you again."

    Nys looked over Hyacinth with a smile, "It's no problem, Moira hates bullies—"

    "Nys," Moira gently called her best friend, "Let's change subjects."

    Well, that's quite sneaky, and probably won't be able to change the vote at this rate... I figure straight-up asking about Hyacinth's family, or "Does anyone else in your family like gardening" would be the way to go.

    Still, I'm guessing we don't have to hit every SC Option to reach Max SC? Hmm... would hitting AP 150 give Moira some SC? You said AP 150 would trigger special stuff, so makes sense it'll provide some ability bonuses.
     
    @Kkutlord Max AP doesn't give SC. (Unless it's Liri). AP will open sidestories and other options in the story. It can also give weapon upgrades.

    @WallFlower: I still want us to (un)subtly hint that Nys is actually Lux, but the sibling thing is a good idea. Hmm, what about... "I've been designing a character named Lux, maybe it would be fun to roleplay sometime?"
     
    Okay, since I really didn't give a heads up about SC until after the update, I'm going to extend the vote until later tonight, so 4 more hours.

    Too subtle in my opinion, but eh. Unless Hyacinth has huge problems with her family and/or fairytales, we couldn't lose that much AP.

    "Hey Hyacinth, do you have any siblings? I have an older brother and Moira's technically an only child." Nys figured she should get Hyacinth to talk about herself. If she could get her to open up maybe she could ask her about last night at a later time. However, she proceeded she needed to tell the girl she was still in danger.

    Hyacinth visibly flinched, her lips pressed into a hard line making her beauty mole more noticeable. Moira noticed her physical response as did Nys, "Don't worry we won't judge you if you don't like your siblings. If you didn't notice, Nys said technically I'm an only child."

    Hyacinth suddenly understood what the older woman meant, "You have step-siblings?"

    "Yes, we get along as well as you'd think for everyone to be fighting over an inheritance," Moira said nonchalantly.

    "I-I have a sister," Hyacinth began almost smiling, "She really smart. She was a Star of Luxarc when she was just ten. She even graduated at fourteen with honors. She took over the family business and opened high-class boutiques all over the world. Everyone knows her story. She the star of my family. Everyone loves her…everyone."

    Hyacinth started off normal but ended up sounding bitter at the end. Nys looked over to Moira who in turned shrugged lightly.

    "Um…yeah. Oh yeah! Do you know any fairytales books?" Nys asked suddenly. She had no idea what to do but change the subject.

    "Ah, yes," she answered sounding sweet again.

    "That's great because I'm looking for one but I can't remember the name." Moira looked at Nys strangely as she spoke.

    "What was it about?" Hyacinth asked.

    "Well I think it had a swordswoman named Lux and she had haunted doll." Nys threw her bait and hoped she'd see some reaction.

    Hyacinth looked lost in her thoughts for a few seconds before she whispered, "She saved me…"

    Moira gave Nys a confused look before speaking, "Hyacinth?"

    The girl snapped out of whatever trance she was in and looked around herself as if she was lost, "I'm sorry I don't know what book you're referring to."

    "That's okay maybe I imagined it."

    Moira nudged Nys with her foot under the table. Nys looked over to her and the woman mouthed to Nys 'what was that?'.

    Nys shook her head. She could only assume that reaction meant Hyacinth did remember the events of last night but something was strange about her reaction. The memory seemed to be there but vague to Hyacinth. She couldn't press the issue because Moira was sitting beside her. She couldn't explain it to her best friend because that would put her in danger. She couldn't let Moira get stressed out because of her. She already had her own problems.

    She wasn't sure what she should do. She could maybe get Moira to leave and ask outright about last night or she could get Moira to help her ask about Hyacinth's sister. She might be the reason the girl was depressed. If that was so then maybe she could help the girl get over whatever it was. That way she wouldn't be a target of the Void.

    What should Nys do?

    • Okay, so... I feel oddly suspicious of the "End Conversation" option, though mostly because that's the only one with five "....." instead of just four. But honestly, I'm drawing a blank on any coherent thing to say that wouldn't upset Hyacinth...
