Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

Just want to point out that as a water spirit, we aren't going to be doing much raiding. At least not in person. We'll ferry across a few ships filled with our mortals, maybe try to bait a fight near the shore where we can help out better (only works the first couple times though), possibly bless our warriors, then ferry them back home. As a former warrior however, we could actually lead our proto-vikings into battle and slaughter our foes for glory!

But the vote isn't for a warrior able to raid and lead proto-vikings. Not only won't they be vikings, not being on the water, the awoken hero is a lawgiver not a warrior. Also, people tended to build near the water, so assuming that we will always have to bait them into fighting by the coast is kind of silly.

Well, I suppose we'll have to watch out for bigger fear spirits that live out in deeper waters. Until it comes a time when we can eat them I mean.

Hm...if we do go water spirit I'm gonna vote for faith, fear just sounds boring for me

But that's moot if Lawgiver wins :)

Question for the QM - can we stunt things ala Exalted to go slightly beyond the limits of the rules - for example if we find a being we want to woo, can we 'gift them a crown of salt and brine' in effect giving them an aspect/domain to raise the, to our level?

Also, could we get bonuses by framing events as legendary/mythological archetypes, instead of as random happenings?

Because I'd much rather play a Fear spirit than do the tedious work of being the glue holding our pantheon together that the lawgiver route would evolve into

You can affect a negotiation with a gift (that's where craft and art help if you didn't pick up any performances), but gifts don't give permanent aspects to other spirits or gods. At most they give them boosts, such as a particularly ornate stone disk containing the complete anthology of the spirit you're gifting it to raising their Shrine and giving you an edge in a negotiation.

The reframing of random happenings giving direct, instant bonuses is probably not going to happen, but it can affect what is available to you in the future (such as preventing excessive flooding in the rainy season by affecting the earth still giving you a discount to a rain element affinity). Random happenings generally give legend if you have some hand in them, either in causing or combating them, not bonuses.

Ahh, why did this one have to be made while I was asleep? Now my wonderful Giant Squid Animal Spirit Plan would only be a spoiler!

It should come as a surprise to no one who read the older thread that this aligns more with my interests. The greatest beasts comes from the darkest depths, after all.

So we couldn't sacrifice an aspect of our own to grant it to another? Rats.

I have an easier time seeing that tiny octopus being a monster that lives in the blood and enslaves people, but everyone sees what they want in tiny top hat octopus.

HEY, HEEEEY, GIT! I always end up doing incredibly silly things when you show up! I can't afford to have you convincing me to post complete nonsense at a whim!

But seriously, glad you're here, Omegahugger. I do hope you continue to be the drive for curiously odd decisions (among the voters, please by Harzi don't direct your strange powers at me) that you've been in the other quests I see you in.

You can do that, but that requires a specific trait or ritual and doesn't always apply even if you have them.

-[] Animal Spirit - Once you were some grand example of a wild animal, but through fame or infamy you have attained a kind of worship that has elevated you above the other beasts, although getting along with your own "worshippers" may be tricky (Avatar 3) Inherent Trait: Aspect of Animal
--[] Subtype: Choose a Solitary Animal
or
--[] Subtype: Choose a Pack Animal

-[] Genius Loci - A sacred spring or oasis or cave or the like, reverence for your location has imbued you with sentience and power, allowing you to bless those that come to your location (Avatar 1, Shrine 2) Inherent Trait: Spirit of -Subtype-
--[] Subtype: The Spring (Health)

personally I would have prefered either of these options, but since this appears not to be an option that has any chance of winning, I'm ready to make a compromise and later simple vote for murdering every animal spirit we come across until we are one ourself :p

-[x] Awoken Hero
--[x] Subtype: Crafter

you know, for players who played the last game this is not just boring, no sir that is boring²

[P] No

I don't think we need a tutorial, we have enough veteran players that we will be fine without it, for the newbies, if you have questions just throw them in until somebody answers them

It's indeed a cold and dark day when the high priest turns away from the pyramid, I just say Heresy :p

Why does nobody trust me when I tell them I've tried to ensure nothing is going to be exceedingly dull. Unless you decide to do a silly and become Hephestus and have no ability to do anything but craft, you should still be able to have a fair amount of fun with a craft-start character.

Bah, crafting is fine. You just need to max it out asap. Create automated God slaying defences made of Amber.

I'll have you know that my plans are perfectly logical, it's everyone else who's odd.

Really, a "Genius Loci: The Sea" would've been wonderful. But alas, the bandwagon's gone too far now and we'll lose the race to people who actually enjoyed playing a human-like character.

For those wondering how, remember: EMIYA would've been a Craftsman Hero. We could theoretically create an Afterlife for beloved tools, hoarding them all up like Tsukumogami.

I'm hoping as a Fear Water spirit we can drag down our Chosen into the depths and return them to preach our dark gospel, twisted from the men and women they were before...

It's not that, it's (at least for me) boring because we already know how the system works, what you have to do and what you have to avoid to be successful if you are a hero spirit, that is why I would consider it simple less interesting then the other options,

not to mention Law maker would make us a full time civilisation spirit, which means more growing through micro management and less through actions, which I consider for the potential of this setting a safe but boring choice for a character

Feel the Wagon that is being wrought!
Join it, or better yet Craft it, and we shall all accomplish all of our myriad goals through ingenuity, effort and not being authoritarian dicks!

Yeah, it certainly would have been sigh~~~
Omega, you with me when it comes to killing animal spirits in order to become an abominable sea monster ?

Either way moving on,
May the great one curse you mortal limitations and RL, may he burn you in a storm of fire and glass

Nah, monster man, if we are a fear god, monsters are what we want, while zealots are good as well, nothing beats a good ol' monster when it comes to generating fear
