Time of the Gods: Into the Amber Age

(bold added for emphasis)

That is the part that I find objectionable; I don't like items in the store having an overpriced price tag. Up till now, I was assuming that the store price was supposed to reflect the true value of the item. If we turn the paradigm on its head and say that no, a skill isn't actually worth 1 legend despite the price tag, and you'd never willingly buy one for that price using sleep time, then the current setup makes a lot more sense. In that case, 10 in a skill wasn't something you paid 10 Legend for (i.e. the equivalent of about three attribute upgrades for us right now), but rather it is just something you got over time. In that paradigm, advancing to 10 in a skill doesn't mean that it is a focus that you invested lots of effort in; it just means that it is a skill you unlocked and then used often enough to get a "journeyman" level of experience in. You only count as being on the path to actual mastery once you've gotten the Excellency and whatnot.

I actually like that a lot; this resolves the problems I've been having with the system without causing the ruckus that @Powerofmind was worried about.

My main concern with this is that the ticket price is absolutely inaccurate. If skills are honestly worth only a fraction of a legend, then pricing them at 1 legend means that you simply can't buy skills are a reasonable price. Furthermore, as a fear spirit, if you roll a skill upgrade, that is something of a waste of a Fear Buy. These problems are both fixed by making it 1 legend for +2 in a skill. @veekie, @Powerofmind - is there any reason that this would be a bad suggestion?
The low cost of skills in traits is an artifact of lower costs for initial traits. By the time you've maxed out your first aspect or spirit, all other T1 aspects will cost 5 (3 points for 5 legend) and all T1 spirits cost 6 (3 points for 6 legend) and only grow more expensive from there. Your first couple of buys are supposed to be significantly easier so that you can have a little extra boost of starting control over your build. Literally by the time you've gotten any 3 upgrades in spirits, or 4 in aspects, it's 2 legend for a single skill point, and those values only get worse. Straight buys are actually pretty nice when, by the time you have 2 T3's in Spirit purchases, your next T1 costs 9 Legend.

So I am interested in marrying Saiga, but not in making him the wife or the vague sense that we would be gouging him super hard in Veekie's plan. Who does that leave me voting for? I have sort of lost track of the viable plans.

Missed these.
Indeed, maybe I'm not giving this enough thought. I imagined this game as one where your choice of stats fundamentally determines your capabilities; so with a significant investment in X, you should be able to solidly trounce someone who left X untrained, and in turn you should be trounced by someone choosing to focus on X to the point where it is one of the one or two greatest pillars of their character. Are you saying that this philosophy fundamentally breaks the balance in the model you are trying to run?
Your choice of skills does give you a fundamental advantage over others. Putting in the right effort can bring you to truly stupid amounts of power (because 20 is just the beginning of how far you can keep stacking up skill points; with the right set of traits you can get there in 3-4, out of 22 maximum), you just can't do it as fast as before. I'm fine letting you grow and grow and grow, but it's going to be harder and harder to seek out that growth as you get more of it. A craft spirit could get to +3 minimum successes in skills with the effort of maybe half a century and that's fine, there's actually a slew of tricky non-skill bonuses for that path that make the wait less grindy and dull, including rerolls and flat success additions (opposed checks have less weird and overtly powerful non-skill bonuses so that the losing side always has at least a ghost of a chance of winning).
Again, that had very little to do with our ranks in Melee. If I'm not mistaken, everyone involved in fighting hand-to-hand at that point had the same Melee score of 10, so the differences came down to Avatar rank and Trait bonuses.

That said, the advancement was definitely silly; a difference of a couple of points in Melee (or Awe, for social contests) would be a neigh-insurmountable gap. I agree that that is decidedly excessive. It makes sense to cut it down at least two or three-fold. x3 would be cutting it down by 3.33x; do you still feel that is insufficient?
3 per point was my iffy number. I'd like to see how things handle when you've actually hit more than 10 skill, which is really just the tipping point, the end of easy mode for gaining success chance.

Also, have a tally because I'll probably be locking shortly... with No Husbando (yet) as the likely winner.

If you want to marry Saiga, I'm afraid Veekie's plan is the only viable option at the time.

Its marry vs don't marry now.

I toned down the demands a lot though.
One minion per extended family, one shrine.

Ugh, ridiculous joke votes screwing with things...

Okay, so it looks like the actual winner is taking him as a husband. I'm officially not counting the joke addition as a difference, because the society you live in barely even has gender roles assigned other than 'men big strong, go pick up stuff' and 'wimminz tiny hands, sew skins', let alone a concrete, traditional difference between a husband and wife's duties.

That said I'm not locking yet regardless. You'll have to wait 3 more hours.

There was a certain faction of "no husbando yet" that joined the wife vote, though.

[X] Plan Weddings Mean Shared Assets right?

Do we have any idea just how many people this is going to pull into attending us? If the number if too high perhaps we could have them rotate in groups?

Hmm, well, I suspect we were changing it with our Lures, since men sent to go fish have a tendency to be lured out by sexy spirit and then drowned. Which meant women fishers, at least until Gaerig figures out how to shapeshift into a hunk.

Then they'd probably need to crossdress to confuse the spirit into using the wrong kind of sexy.

If theres too many, some families will have to take the risks.

Or Gaerig learns to crowdsurf

Currently standing 23/21 when you add the wifes to the husbands, although @sidestory is voting for "winning bachelor vote", so he could be counted for "No husbando yet".

I just realized a fun synergy for this marriage: she likes making monsters, he likes hunting them, both get legend from that. And he potentially gets exotic crafting materials.

And that's before we get into unleashing the Wild Hunt in a war against other pantheons, where he leads the monsters on a hunt.

23 to 22 in favor of marriage, accounting for the weird votes that should probably be included. Since it's still neck and neck, I'll let things go for the full extra hour I'd allotted rather than closing things up any earlier. You guys get the most contentious votes for the weirdest things...

I'm pretty sure that opposed roll would be really difficult, if not outright impossible.

Considering that the requests include a shrine.
...Would you believe me if i said i'd somehow become convinced that my plan actually asked for permission to build a shrine, not to have one built for us, and that was part of why i thought it was more balanced than it is, and was confused by Sivantic's suggestions? *facepalm* apparently my brain can handle statistics but not simple memory.

Speaking of memory, i somehow remembered the last update as being around 10 or 11, not 8...so now my plan to wake up and make changes to my plan if need be feels both stupid (because no time to get changed votes) and assholish (because changing plans within an hour of lock is not fair to voters)

So i'm leaving it to @Powerofmind there was some confusing discourse on this, and i think some people voted expecting @Sivantic 's plan:
[X] Plan No Husbando (yet)
[X] Acquiesce to Saiga's first condition (not voting for this is implicit refusal of the condition, can be difficult and will likely upset Saiga).
[X] Give something else instead of either condition (can upset Saiga regardless of what is offered if it doesn't include easing up on his fishers).
-[X] However he has not proven that he is worthy of our hand, so if he wants our hand he has to do three things for us to prove that he is capable. For every tasks he completes we will reward him and his people
--[X] First task, build a shrine to Gaerig in your village, In return, we will bless your villagers.
--[X] Second task, we require 'prey'. Tell us of where to hunt and where to avoid dangers and we will offer you knowledge of the future in return. (when we use future reading, we will share what we learn with him if it involves him)
--[X] Third and Final task...will only be given once the others are complete >.> . In return, if we are pleased with his actions and skills we will present him with a magical coat of armor (scrap copper is still magical to them...) and accept his proposal
While others voted for me... so if anyone looks in in the last half an hour and says they want the above plan, but not the original plan, then do so, and tag me and PoM in it; on the off chance we make up the difference in votes, then...i'll let PoM decide if changing the plan so late is ok, because i dont want to make that decision, especially when i just woke up :(
