There Was A Different Idea: An MCU Producer Quest

Didn't we table Armor Wars for season 2 precisely so that it wouldn't interfere with Ironman 3? I think there was something like that going on.
Yes we did. The plan was to keep armour wars for season 2 of War Machine.

[x] Plan: No Armor Today, Armor Tomorrow
-[X] [Length] Agree to his request and give him a 22 episode season.
-[X] [Antagonist] Aldrich Killian and A.I.M.
-[X] [Antagonist] Raza and the Ten Rings
-[X] [Count] Two villains will show that the situation is more complicated than "just punch the guy."
-[X] [Armor Wars] No, you have plans for that storyline.
--[x] Armor Wars needs to wait for a future season. Possibly post Avengers, possibly post the next Iron Man film. But we can set that as the goal.

Two groups, one domestic, one international, both ones that the military need to care about as opposed to the personal foes we use in films.

Armor Wars should be in response to the villains having to up their game, and also as an inducement to stay for more than one season.

While it is not a TV show, we should start making web videos of Gwendolyn Pool breaks down our Trailers and talks about our films. Set her up as a super fan for use in a few years. Every so often let her break news.

Just curious. Agents of Shield? Could be a good way to get stuff going that could tie into overall MCU. Can't remember if Marvel in here bought back the rights to all Mutants or whatever was necessary yet.

I got an idea for someone else who can play Deadpool. And that's Jim Carrey. And I'll defend that by citing his performance as Captain Stars and Stripes from the Kick-Ass sequel.

Plus if there was ever a character that'd be perfect for the living cartoon stylings of Jim Carrey it's Deadpool.

And there's the matter of his three separate inner monologues from the comics. His own thoughts, the "wackier" voice in his head, and the "serious" voice in his head. Carrey could play all three perfectly.

Kind of my first post here but maybe Jim Carrey would fit taskmaster more? You could have deadpool vs taskmaster like in one of the comics where deadpool used insanity to win against him.

But yeah, if there was a an actor born to play a role, it would be reynold as deadpool.

What to choose? - Planning Session: Marvel TV (September 2011)
When it came to ideas and pitches for TV shows there was quite a deluge of them, though mostly for characters that you still didn't own the rights to. An idea for a Deadpool TV show did sound awesome, and you'd already heard from Ryan's own agent (probably at his urging as well) for the chance of his client to play the role. Dammit, if you'd known that you could get the rights for the character that easily then perhaps you would have...

Well, nevermind that. You still have one year before you can even make plans for both Deadpool and the Fantastic Four, so for now you'd do well to focus on what you can produce and make for Marvel now. No matter how tempted you might be in making a Fantastic Four TV Show.

Dammit! Stop thinking about it!

Alright then, looking back it seems that the old ideas given to you are still there, but also accompanied by some new proposals by the Committee. And seeing the previous success, they have decided to increase the amount of TV shows to be done this year from one to three.

You could explore so much of the MCU and make some amazing stories with this!

Committee Ideas:

There is also Lady Sif and the Warriors Three still on the table if you want to explore the mystical aspects of the Nine Realms. Gal Gadot is still on board with the idea, and is willing to once more don the costume and attitude of the much beloved character.

It seems Ike and the rest of the Committee still think that doing a show about The Incredible Hulk would be a good idea. It's not that popular now that you've added Hulk to the Avengers roster though.

Then there's The Immortal Iron Fist so as to expand the MCU and see not only the legendary city of K'un-Lun, but also the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven and its Seven Champions. This could be a true Martial Arts series, with fights galore and amazing choreography if you let it.

An interesting idea brought by one of the most open minded of the Committee was to make use of Namor in an adaptation from the Sub-Mariner: The Depths storyline. This would be mainly a one season series, and it would explore the existence of Namor in the MCU, with an exploration of the rumors back during WWII that you added in the Captain America movie. Why do you feel this was their goal all along?

There's also a proposal for a more lighthearted and comedy-themed series. Damage Control would be about the company specializing in repairing the damage from encounters between heroes and villains, and satirizing the bureaucratic issues that come from as well. Perhaps something closer to that show The Office could work as well.

Finally, Avi has a proposal that is a bit out there from what you're used to doing: Animation. More specifically, an animated series about the Tales of Asgard stories that used to appear in the old Thor comic books. A way to display the grandeur of the Nine Realms during the War Eternal against the Jotuns, and add some mythological background as well.

Many of the Old Norse Sagas have those fighting Jotuns so it would not be out of characters, and seeing Thor and Loki growing up does sound interesting...but you have no knowledge of how to do animation! Heck do they even have Showrunners!? Avi says he can help with it so you'll at least think about it.

And of course, War Machine can still be renewed for a second season.

Matt's Ideas

When it came to your ideas you felt a bit bare, but then again most of them were for characters that you didn't even own at the time so you could be excused. Not to mention you were one man giving what he thought against an entire team just churning them out there.

Still, you think your idea for an Agents of SHIELD TV show is a good one. It would allow SHIELD to be more fleshed out, and give you a chance to explore the world after the catastrophes from the movies. Whether it would be an Anthology with certain teams or characters or follow a single team and character can be worked out later.

You also thought of doing something with the Commandos, to explore more of their characters. That's when you thought that a series about Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos would be ideal in showing their follow up adventures during WWII. A way to see the dark side of it and how just because the Captain stopped the Red Skull it did not mean that HYDRA stopped fighting.

A variant of that would be their idea for an Invaders series. Using the characters from the 40's, and the revived and ret-coned series from the 60's, this would make use of characters like Namor, The original Human Torch (you're going to have to negotiate with Fox again, aren't you?), Miss America, The Whizzer, Black Marvel, etc, etc. Sort of a story of the forming of a Proto-Avengers team and their adventures during the closing days of WWII.

What would work for this year then?

I would rather save the Sub-Mariner for a Fantastic 4 vs Namor film, it fits the lore and a good two in one licence usage (The military is doing weapon testing due to alien invasion scare and accidently (manipuated) hits atlantis).

We should focus on stuff that won't/can't be their own movies. Hulk, Ironfist, Namor are out for me for that reason.

It feels a bit too early for something like Damage Control, and Invaders seems a bit too campy.

While I liked the original Agents of SHIELD show just fine (Ghost Rider in season 4 was the shit!), I want an anthology series, I want more than one team, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna.

I also think that if we don't do a second Hulk movie, then we do a TV show. I just hope we get the budget.

More War Machine is almost mandatory, season one was great.

Sif is fun for opening up more of the world. Also, we can make a crossover with War Machine work with ease as they have similar scale.

I've been pushing for Agents as an anthology, so that too.

It feels right to premiere Damage Control after a massive damaging event like the Kree invasion.

We should do a 2nd Hulk movie instead. Namor should be in a Fantastic Four movie.
