…What the fuck

You're not going to lie, you had been prepared for this to last months, to even make it an entire year, you'd been preparing excuses for Ike and Avi to bring to the Committee in order to excuse the delay for the Sentinel of Freedom's big debut to the big screen (The 90's movie doesn't count…the 90's movie doesn't count…the 90's movie doesn't count…). Not that you doubted Johnston skill; if the time working with him had thought you something was that the man had been clearly maligned before when they criticized his movies. The man had a clear understanding of the subject, and the incredible ability to bring an old idea and make it relevant yet still faithful to its origins. Of all Directors you're sure there was no one more suited for bringing Captain America to life.

But even so, you had come and added more characters than could be expected, had him rewrite entire segments of the film, and even changed the villains somewhat; you were sure that at the very least he would need more time than just a couple of months to have the script ready!

You were wrong.

What you received was no patriotic drivel, nor was it the *shudder* abomination that was the 1990's movie, but a tightly packed action period drama, one that played to Steve Rogers greatest strengths; his convictions and heart, his leadership skills and his ability to inspire those around him. It brings to light the truth about Captain America; that in the end, it was not the Super-Soldier Serum what made him a hero, he was always one.

And through the limited time it made sure to bring attention and development to the Commandos as they journeyed together, they are part of Steve's story and each of them bring something to the overall group; not to mention Peggy Carter, a tough, confident beautiful woman who takes no attitude from anyone (Is it wrong to feel attracted to what is clearly a fiction character? Yeah, it's weird, better cut it out.) Heck, even the characters that were supposed to serve as Side-Cast or cameos have their time to shine without feeling forced or just inserted there; Some conversations, some quips that are fun but oh so memorable…this feels almost like a love letter to all that was beautiful in Marvel in the 40s!

And that's without discussion the villains; Red Skull, oh you've never loved to hate someone so much! The inner fan boy in you (which is not that different from your outer fan boy now that you think about it) is jumping up and down about the chance to actually do the Red Skull right! Show the maniacal yet charismatic man who can be considered Captain America's opposite and equal! Heck, no wonder Zemo is so taken with him in his adaptation; he is a brilliant man following a more brilliant man, only bailing when he sees he needs to continue the mission by himself.

It's official, you are going to punch whoever denigrates Joe Johnston to your face. The man's a genius and you will not hear otherwise.

Appeal = 103
Finance = 69

Avi agrees with you, his enthusiasm being so infectious that the entire Committee has already signed up for merchandise deals and advertising sure in the knowledge that the movie can't fail! They're nearly ready to give you as much money as you can get before Ike manages to bring them back to order and give you a more modest proposal. It's still more than enough to film what you want though.

Casting Quality = 109

News must have slipped about this "can't fail" production because you have received a deluge of applicants for roles! This is vindication in your mind. You have spent the last three years building up, and hammering into people's minds, the Marvel brand for Superhero movies; and, unlike Fox and the X-Men, every single one has been a sure hit.

…Let's ignore Wonder Man for now, that one doesn't count. Fucking berk!

Do not vote until this post is one hour old. This will give time for additional casting suggestions. Casting suggestions are appreciated.

Casting Steve Rogers/Captain America:
The legend itself, the leader of your future Avengers team. You're not just looking for someone with muscles and the right coloration - though the blond hair and blue eyes are somewhat important in his status of a living insult to the Nazi ideology. Portraying Cap means someone has to be able to stand for the best parts of America. Leadership and compassion are as important as muscles.
[] [Steve] Scott Eastwood – While not the greatest actor in the world he is still a hard worker and determined to always do his best in every production he's been in. The fact he started just five years ago should not deter you, he has promise.

[] [Steve] Chris Evans - He played Johnny Storm in the... less than beloved Fantastic Four movies. He's displayed some clear talent back then and ever since. Not to mention that he certainly looks how you picture Cap.

[] [Steve] Sebastian Stan – An actor with clear enthusiasm for the part, Stan has impressed you with his audition and what you've seen of his filmography. Your main hesitation concerns his appearance. He just doesn't look like Steve.

[] [Steve] Luke Hemsworth – Well…he's certainly enthusiastic. While his filmography is not that impressive he does have the look. Word is his brother Chris is working for a DC movie now, so you could get the sibling at least.

[] [Steve] John Krasinski – There are always concerns when casting an actor best known for playing a single specific character, and John Krasinski is Jim from The Office. It's a hard label to shake. He did impress you a bit on the audition though.

[] [Steve] I'm thinking of Someone Else: (Write In)

Casting James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes: The original comics had him as the teen sidekick (which obviously you're not going for), though a more recent iteration has him being trained since young, or even the one who helped Steve from being bullied. You think you prefer the latter.
[] [Bucky] Sebastian Stan – He auditioned for this part as well. That's very realistic of him, and you have to admit he does seem to fit this role more than the previous one.

[] [Bucky] Jake Gyllenhaal – The son of director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner. He once auditioned for the role of Spider-Man from what you hear.

[] [Bucky] Jon Bernthal – Better known for his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, the man does seem to fit the look of an experienced soldier.

[] [Bucky] Kit Harington – Currently has no previous experience, though there are rumors about a TV show to be aired, still he's really new to this.

[] [Bucky] Ben Barnes – Hey, it's Prince Caspian! He's no stranger to Period Movies, and he's worked with Matthew Vaughn before.

[] [Bucky] I'm thinking of Someone Else: (Write In)

Casting Peggy Carter: An operative of the Strategic Scientific Reserve (the Allies' answer to HYDRA) and Steve's eventual love interest. You're sticking to British actresses in order to keep her accurate to her comic origins.
[] [Carter] Katie McGrath – Known for her role as Morgana in the Hit BBC series Merlin. Hard to believe she never thought about acting before.

[] [Carter] Hayley Atwell – She's been making waves due to her appearances in The Duchess and The Pillars of Earth. Something tells you she'd be great for the role.

[] [Carter] Felicity Jones – She's acted since young and has expressed interest in playing something other than the love interest. This role might give her just that.

[] [Carter] Alice Eve – Among the most unknown options under consideration, at least in the United States. She has been slowly building up a respectable resume though.

[] [Carter] Keira Knightley – Known for her roles as Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean. Just like Johnny though she would be a one movie actress.

[] [Carter] I'm thinking of Someone Else: (Write In)

Casting Johan Schmidt/Red Skull: One of the villains of the movie. The Red Skull is undeniably the most evil villain Marvel has cast thus far. He might be portrayed as human but not as sympathetic. Charismatic perhaps, but not likeable.
[] [Red Skull] Willem Dafoe – Well, Willem's back and he's brought the same enthusiasm that's made him famous. You're still not sure if enough time has passed though.

[] [Red Skull] Hugo Weaving – As an Australian actor he might have some issues with the accent, but it's nothing that some training won't fix.

[] [Red Skull] Mark Strong – Better known for playing cold, calculating villains, this British actor can also speak fluent German.

[] [Red Skull] Dolph Lundgren – He…might be a bit recognizable, but no one can deny that he does look the part.

[] [Red Skull] Christoph Waltz – Thanks to his role as Hans Landa in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds you know he can play the role of a charismatic yet ruthless Nazi.

[] [Red Skull] I'm thinking of Someone Else: (Write In)

Casting Henrich Zemo: The second Antagonist of the film. Zemo is a zealot, a fencing Master, a cunning strategist and a brilliant scientist. It's through his plans that Bucky is seemingly killed, leading Steve into near despair.
[] [Zemo] Christoph Waltz – Also applying for this role, Waltz feels he can work in either role, and frankly so do you.

[] [Zemo] Michael Fassbender – Well you don't know why, but this feels like it should be ironic, don't you think? Oh well, he does look intimidating as heck.

[] [Zemo] Oscar Isaac – A Marvel fan…of the X-Men of course. Oscar Isaac has performed well lately, and this role might just make his career grow even more.

[] [Zemo] Daniel Bruhl – Has worked in German films, and is fluent in Catalan, Spanish, French, English and German…You feel dumb all of a sudden

[] [Zemo] I'm thinking of Someone Else: (Write In)

A.N: I had some free time and saw that there was no dissention so I started working on the update. Casting Call is pretty big this time so I had to split it in half, next update you select the rest.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm just going to cry in a corner over how all my plans to give you a challenge and watch you struggle just went into smoke.

January 2011

A new year, a new headache to deal with. If it wasn't enough having to deal with a seemingly never ending production for Wonder Man, or the requests from Michael to give him another try at the script for War Machine then it was having to deal with the headache of balancing the schedules for your actors so that their previous commitments don't bite you in the ass.

Kit Harington was already proving to be a hassle. Not that it was his fault…okay partially it was his fault. When he applied for the role of Bucky he was also already contracted for a TV series that was going to be released soon. Nothing in his contract prevented him from taking other jobs so he didn't think that there would be that much of a problem.

Only it turns out there is, because filming has yet to finish and having to move between sets is already causing issues with the filming and production for both of them. You swear if you hear another call from whatever Podunk little show Kit is also working on you are going to burst!

Game of Thrones…yeah right, like that's ever going to make as big an impact as the MCU.

You give them a season tops.

Well, you can at least say that the rest of the cast handles like a dream. Mark Strong and Christoph Waltz are already rehearsing their lines together and the interaction between them has already been the talk of the filming crew; Mark, as the strong, calculating and stoic Red Skull melds perfectly with Christoph's more cheery, charismatic yet utterly ruthless take on Zemo. Alone they are great, together they are perfect!

Hayley Atwell, what can you say about her that others haven't? Talented, driven, and a quick study into the mind and mannerisms of Peggy Carter. You see a bright future for her, perhaps even in Marvel if you can play your cards right. It would be a shame to lose such a talent after only one film.

And Evans…when you first saw the Fantastic Four film you felt appalled at what they had done, you felt disgusted at how they had butchered the characters, and you had sworn in your heart of hearts that you'd somehow have retribution for this travesty!

Doom deserved better than that!

But any small ember of resentment was washed away when you saw him take on the role of Steve Rogers, and somehow elevate the character to a level you'd not seen since Robert Downey Jr.'s first take on Iron Man.

For the second time in your life, you've seen an actor play a role they were born for.

With your team all complete it was time for you to do your part. This production will need to be perfect and shine like it has ¡never done before. You need to make sure to beat what Fox; Sony and DC will be delivering after all.

Starting with a catchy name!

Do not vote until this post is one hour old. This will give time for additional casting suggestions. Casting suggestions are appreciated.

Casting Corporal Timothy "Dum-Dum" Dugan:
One of the candidates for the Super-Soldier program. While not very smart, and also grim looking, Dugan is a very friendly person once you get to know him.
[] [Dugan] Michael Cudlitz – He's had experience playing a soldier before from his previous role in Band of Brothers.

[] [Dugan] Neal McDonough – Another Band of Brothers actor, though he's also made some appearances in DC adaptations…as a voice actor.

[] [Dugan] Anthony Michael Hall – You mostly remember him as Johnny Smith from The Dead Zone. Man you loved that show!

[] [Dugan] I'm thinking of Someone Else (Write In)

Casting Private Jim Morita: A sarcastic but well-meaning man, Morita enlisted due to patriotism only to see his family be sent to an internment camp. He's had some disciplinary problems since, but is determined to still do the right thing.
[] [Morita] Kenneth Choi – The man has a passion for acting, and has made stunning performances in both TV and film.

[] [Morita] John Cho – He is Korean, but he has talent as shown in his previous performances in the American Pie franchise, and the more recent Star Trek reboot.

[] [Morita] Osric Chau – You think you remember him from 2012, aside from that he's been in some foreign productions as well.

[] [Morita] I'm thinking of Someone Else (Write In)

Casting Private Gabriel Jones: An old friend of Bucky and Steve. Gabriel joined the army before the war, and there is some jealousy as he sees how his friends have climbed higher in such a short time.
[] [Gabriel] Orlando Jones – You loved his performance as Vox in The Time Machine. He could bring the jokes and the seriousness when needed.

[] [Gabriel] Will Smith – It's Will Freaking Smith! What else do you need to say! You might have to worry about him stealing the show though.

[] [Gabriel] Anthony Mackie – A hard worker and he has made his presence in both film and media. He's excited about appearing in a Marvel film, this might be his chance.

[] [Gabriel] I'm Thinking of Someone Else (Write In)

Casting Count Niccolo Nefaria: Luchino's grandfather and an actual exiled Count. His hatred for the Fascists is only topped by his hatred for Zemo. He is rescued by the released prisoners once he claims to know about HYDRA's final plan.
[] [Niccolo] Riccardo Scarmacio – An actual italian actor. His experience might veer more to romance but he speaks the language.

[] [Niccolo] Antonio Banderas – Spanish is close to Italian, right? Anyways, besides portraying Zorro he also has a long history of performances.

[] [Niccolo] Brendan Fraser – You could very well cut the middleman and have Brendan play the role. You'd need to age him some as well.

[] [Niccolo] I'm thinking of Someone Else (Write In)

Casting Colonel Chester Phillips: The man in charge of training and selecting the future candidates for the Super-Soldier Serum. While not initially on board with Steve, in time he warms up to him /though he will never admit it).
[] [Phillips] J. K. Simmons – Oh you would have heads turning with this one! Simmons does have the look of an angry and overbearing officer.

[] [Phillips] Tommy Lee Jones – Well, his performance is not bad, though he seems more stoic than anything else.

[] [Phillips] R. Lee Ermey - Former member of the USMC and also appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He can be authoritarian and overbearing like no one's business.

…Did you get a theme song?!

No seriously, you can't just hear this music without thinking Captain America, and that's not something you've gotten with any of your characters so far! The fact that it was done in your usual fast paced production style just makes it even better! Not only that but for once the VFX team required hardly any motivation to do succeed. Then again they have been working with Johnston for a while now so of course they would know what to do.

Statistically speaking, not all of the VFX teams had to suck, but it had been so long and so many productions that sometimes you worried that you were cursed, or that some malevolent entity just rolled the dice for your life and laughed at your pain when you had to deal with constant VFX-issues induced headaches.

Wow…you may need to take a break.

The pleasant surprise at seeing some actual decent VFX, as well as the beautifully composed music by Alan Silvestri was more than enough to dilute the ever growing rage at seeing the editing team mangle your film! In another time and place you might have screamed, ranted or even just walk out to express your anger in some more productive fashion.

This time around you just looked at them and told them to fix it.

You might be getting soft.

Protagonists:

Chris Evans Screen Presence:
102
Hayley Atwell Screen Presence: 48
Romance Chemistry: 97

Ah now this is the stuff!

Evans justified your faith in him once more. From the dialogue to the emotion and determination of Steve Rogers, it's almost like you can see Captain America come to life. It brings a smile to your face when you see him punch Hitler in the face over and over again (Johnston was right in adding that section), and facing against Zemo just after he had Bucky die…man, you didn't know Chris could convey such anger with just a look!

If only Hayley hadn't twisted her ankle during the filming! Sometimes your speed could become your greatest curse. You had moved well beyond many of her scenes by the time she was ready for the most action orientated parts, and by then what you had could only be charitably called "subpar". An unfair judgment as you've seen she has talent, her performance even while in pain was nearly y as good as some top actors.

But at least you managed to keep on hitting it out of the park with the romance. Seriously, aside from Bruce Banner and Betty Ross every single one of the romance in your movies have that spark. It not always manifests in the same fashion, but it's right there; the slow simmering one between Tony and Pepper, the passion between Thor and Jane, the almost RomCom between Simon and Darcy among others.

And now, you have the true love between Steve and Peggy.

Perhaps you should try a romance film once, see what happens there.

Kit Harington Screen Presence: 85

Of all the actors in the movie you expected Kit to have the most problems. What with his constant movement between this movie and that other TV series. The Producers and show runners were giving you hell constantly about it (bunch of arrogant assholes in your opinion) yet somehow he managed to power through it all. His take on Bucky is a bit different than expected, a bit more on the determined and resolved than the confident and tough like persona that the script demanded, but he makes it work.

Michael Cudlitz Screen Presence: 102
Kenneth Choi Screen Presence: 102
Orlando Jones Screen Presence: 89

Oh my! They are just kicking it out of the park here! Michael and Kenneth managed to form an amazing dynamic between them, to the point that they nearly dominate the scene whenever they appear! (Nearly, there is still Steve there of course) both sides have their own arc and prejudice making it a delight when you see them finally work together at the end. Orlando may not have as much impact, but he's managed to work with it instead of letting it drag him down, managing some amazing scenes displaying the jealousy and anger he feels towards his teammates, Steve, and himself. One he eventually manages to overcome…and whoever thought of adding a scene where he punches the Red Skull in the face deserves an award!

Protagonist Chemistry: 80

The script called for a group of soldiers who would bond together through their mission, they would not be bad people, but they would all have their hang-ups, and they would found a brotherhood between them that would rock HYDRA to their very core. And in this they succeeded; every fight and reconciliation, every conversation after a battle, every moment where they save each other is laden with meaning and comradeship. Steve and Bucky are true friends, of this there is no doubt, but at the end no one can doubt that the Commandos are true companions one and all.

Antagonists:

Mark Strong:
90

Mark Strong took to playing a Nazi surprisingly well. For a man who tends to be mostly stoic and calculating he managed to imbue the Red Skull not only with a terrifying presence, but an air of charisma that had men willing to follow him into hell himself. That paired with the fight against Captain America made him be his true equal, with everyone on the edge of their seats whenever the two shared the screen. Every fight showed an aspect of the character itself; Steve's dogged determination against the Red Skull's vicious brutality showing the villain's true feelings behind the cold exterior.

Christoph Waltz: 99

Where Mark Strong went for a cold demeanor in his personality, Christoph Waltz took a warmer and gregarious outer persona that hid the sadistic monster within and managed to display the most amazing interpretation of Zemo you've seen so far (well, it is the first, but comics count, right?). Waltz can match the Red Skull in every scene, and it's a true delight to see them work together. You can be sure that beating them is going to take a near miracle, and it's oh so satisfying seeing him flee at the end leaving the Red Skull to fend for himself. You have to find a way to bring this character back somehow, the world will thank you.

Antagonist Chemistry: 86

Whenever the two of them are together you can see and feel how much they actually loathe each other. Red Skull and Zemo's personalities make them desire to be the top dog, and every meeting, interaction, posturing and conversation is just another struggle to be the winner, to prove oneself to be superior over the other. It's so amazing to see it happening in front of you, just waiting and thinking if this is the moment that they will finally snap.

Side Cast

Riccardo Scarmacio Screen Presence:
28

Well…okay he can speak English at least, and he does make for a good Niccolo but…he just doesn't seem to sell the whole scheming angle you're going for here. His delivery tends to be a bit wooden in some parts, like he doesn't seem to care overmuch, and then go excited when he needs to be more dignified.

R. Lee Ermey Screen Presence: 65

Ermey is a true delight to work with. Really, who'd have thought the man could be so cordial one moment then turn onto the drillmaster from hell the next! You swear the moment he yelled "Ten-Hut!" Everyone on set obeyed him, including yourself!

It's a pity that on a film where everyone shines his performance will pass unnoticed.

It's a good film all in all, and you're damn lucky you finished soon as you still have time to finish the Post-Credit scenes. Originally they wanted you to post what amounted to a commercial for the Avengers film, showing some footage of it. But you think you can do better than that!

Ever since last month you've been riding on cloud nine over the possibility of finally adding the Fantastic Four to Marvel's properties once more (and Deadpool as well you guess, but whatever) that you were completely blindsided when Avi came to you for a request.

He heard about the addition of Cameos of The Invaders and he loved the idea, excellent in his opinion. But he does remind you that Namor was also an Invader, and they own the rights for him at the moment.

You nearly blank at the thought. They want you to add references (and if possible an active cameo) of Namor in a film that is already nearly bursting at the seams with an overabundance of characters…

Is it wrong that you want to say yes?

--[x] Add a scene which hints that Niccolo has or knows something about the Power Stone. Perhaps Zemo has been unsuccessfully interrogating him about it (and that's why he kept Niccolo alive) before his timely rescue by Steve, also implied Zemo's failed interrogation is how Niccolo knows HYDRA's planning something dangerous.
--[X] Add another scene which lets you get into the emotional side of things a bit, and the impact Steve had. Have a memorial scene for Steve (and Bucky, depending on how close together their deaths are in the movie?), with a brief snippet of each of the Howling Commandos giving a eulogy and the longest part for Peggy, ending with a firm resolve to keep up the fight in Steve's name, and be a 'shield' for the world in his place.
Editing: 83(Reroll)

You watched the finished product with a smile on your face, content with how the scene from Captain America fighting the Red Skull smoothly transitioned to the Commandos wreaking havoc in a base and vice-versa. It's not only there but in many parts where the small touch ups make the entire film more of a delight to be see than a chore to slog through.

Perhaps there is something to the whole "not getting overexcited" thing they'd told you about.

Riccardo Negotiations: 50
Riccardo Increase: 1d12= 10
Riccardo Scarmacio Screen Presence: 80 (Reroll)+10: 90

The negotiations with Riccardo to add another scene were touch and go but eventually he agreed. You can understand how prickly some actors can be about doing more than their contract asks for, but this was necessary for the movie itself! IT perfectly set up the eventual antagonism between the Nefaria and the Zemo line…if you ever decided to go that route of course. Even if not, this was still an amazing scene to film. Riccardo finally seemed to nail the character, displaying the pride and arrogance of a fallen noble, and with it he could finally reroll most of the previous scenes where he was lacking before.

Hayley Atwell Negotiation: 88
Atwell Increase: 1d12= 4
Hayley Atwell Screen Presence: 48+10 (Intense Focus)+4: 62

Hayley was more than willing to film an additional scene, one that due to time constraints had to be closer to the flash scenes shown at the end, just before the one with her waiting for Steve and the one of the Commandos having their own private farewell. It was still an emotional and thought provoking scene, as it shows the people closest to Steve privately mourning as the rest of the world celebrates, unknowing of what truly happened to their hero.

Adding some small incidents of sunken ships and conjectures does not harm you at all, and besides, only the most hardcore of fans will remember that Namor was a member of The Invaders back in the day (Man, that's such a cool concept though, perhaps some day…).

The Mid-Credit Scene was not so much of a challenge as it was the setting. Though some guys wanted it to happen in the U.N. others mentioned that it would be a better nod to the character if it was set with Zemo already in a South American country.

Zemo unexpectedly sees Carter and smiles.

ZEMO: I wasn't aware they still sent guards after innocent men.

CARTER: Are there any around?

ZEMO: (Trying to maintain his façade, but slowly losing his smile) The U.N., your own government, they all granted me a pardon. There is nothing you can do to me now.

CARTER: I wasn't aware I was…(Smiling) enjoy your day.

Carter leaves, passing by a man who nods at her then turns to look at Zemo who once more smiles. Zemo then looks at him, and then looks at different areas, seeing more and more inconspicuous men, all who could be spying at him.

His smile is replaced by a frown, clearly angry.

It does bring some closure to Zemo in some way. Is it what you wanted though?

When you'd presented the draft to Marvel for their approval you'd never thought to see such excitement in their faces. For a moment you'd felt that you were in a room with your kind of people instead of the soul suck-*Ahem* respected executives of Marvel. They immediately made plans for promotions everywhere, previews and trailers in every movie they could get their hands on; they even made sure to put wallpapers and advertisement billboards on nearly every city they could afford! Heck, you're sure that at some point you were walking down a street where only posters of Captain America could be seen on its walls.

All of it before Wonder Man had a release date!

Even so when the time came for Captain America to finally look for a release date you found yourself in quite a pickle; you of course agreed with the Committee and wanted the 4th of July as the release date, not only would it have great symbolism, but it would also be right dab in the middle of the Summer months, where the greatest amount of revenue for films could be made; but not only was the third installment of the transformers franchise about to debut a week prior to that, but a week afterwards the final chapter in the Harry Potter movies would be released as well.

A more timid man would have hesitated, a more rational man would have delayed…You were neither. You were a proud fan of Marvel, you had taken risks beyond what Marvel and their execs had demanded of you…you'd take even crazier risks in the future for the sake of creativity, and no little British schoolboy or walking-talking giant robot was going to make you give up the most perfect spot for your film! When the wizards and the Autobots and the whole of Marvel tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world -- "No, YOU move!"

Harry Potter ran to August 5th, the Autobots decided that one shall stand, and one shall fall.

Pity for them it wasn't as they hoped.

The day of the premiere the theaters were packed! So was the next day…and the next…and the next, continuing very well into the very end of July and beginning of August, chasing the Boy-Who-Lived for a while before just leaving well enough alone. But in that time Captain America made sure to impress upon everyone watching the high degree of storytelling only possible through Marvel!

The story of Steve Rogers is the story of the principles every American wished to embody; of a hero who, despite his strength and speed, finds that his greatest strength are his conviction and ideals, his strength of character and humility. This is perfectly shown during the rescue mission, the search for HYDRA, and his leadership of the Commandos as he unites them in a single purpose and ideal, becoming a beacon of hope not only to them but to the entire Allied front. The confrontation and final battle against the Red Skull, the ultimate sacrifice he was forced to make, abandoning all chance of happiness in order to help his fellow man showed why this ma was worthy of not only admiration but respect.

Audiences loved it, fans loved it even more. At last! A movie to wash away the disaster that was the 1970's and 1990's versions. A Captain America film that understood what made the character great!

It did not stop there either, as every hero was just as good as the villain he faced. And Captain America just so happens to have two of them! Both The Red Skull and Zemo find themselves both loved and hated by the audience and fans, stealing the show whenever the two of them are in the screen. Both sides also made sure to properly display their comic-inspired origins through their actions and language; Red Skull being more rough and with a more coarse tongue while Zemo tries to maintain the dignified and refined aspect of nobility. It makes for an interesting contrast between the two.

The Commandos were a stroke of genius as well. Many veterans praised the realism displayed in their interactions, as well as the slow and realistic way that a brotherhood between them was formed. The interactions between them displayed a depth in their characters that went beyond simple "Cannon Fodder" or tagalong. That you chose to have Peggy Carter and Nefaria accompany them and serve as another foil for them managed to expand even more their role and what they bring to the story beyond simply being the "Girl" or the "smart man". You have Howard Stark for that, and he was awesome as always.

It also allowed you to include that fencing duel scene between Nefaria and Zemo. You just knew people would love it!

That you finally revealed the secret of the "glowing cube" pleased the fans who were now debating as to what would happen with it, if it was in some way related to the stone Nefaria used to create Wonder Man, and why did it work on Simon but the Tessaract only disintegrated the Red Skull?! Of course then that person is rebutted that clearly Red Skull is not dead as it's shown that he was only transported away, and then that person is called crazy because clearly the Red Skull is dead and blah, blah, blah…

Ah fan theories. It's been a while since you've posted your own, but being the guy in the know makes it a bit unfair.

The Mid-Credit scene this time around was a bit tame, finally showing Zemo getting his just desserts, but the Post-Credit scene had everyone cheering on their feet. It's one thing to have speculation and assumption that of course they will have an Avengers movie, but it's another thing to have vindication and concrete proof. The footage of the Avengers in action and sharing the same screen was enough to guarantee a loyal fan base for the next movie.

Unlike last time critics did not dare to follow Berk's directive, they knew very well the backlash they would receive from angry viewers who had already seen the film and had nothing but praise for it. At the same time many of them shared their views about the validity of the film, and how it served as an excellent period piece with its realistic depiction of war.

You knew Captain America would be great…

The Competition: Compete Harder! (July 2011)

Directed by: David S. Goyer
Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Kristofer Hivju, Devon Aoki, Idris Elba, Scott Adkins, Tom Hopper and Marie Avgeropoulos

Domestic Box Office: $266,931,085
International Box Office: $192,910,576
Production Budget: $115,000,000
Net Worldwide Gross: $344,841,661

You know, you might actually like this one. It's got nothing on Hawkeye of course, but the story is where it shines.

As an origin story it sticks to the basics but it also helps in expanding the lore and world. Oliver Queen shipwrecking on an Island owned by the League of Assassins and teaming with Eddie Fyers in order to find a way out makes for an amazing experience! The dynamic and familiar bond they develop is magnificent!

And they made sure to use as many characters for future development; Deadshot, Constantine Drakon, freaking Onomatopoeia!! Just a how shame they wasted the character of Shado… Thalia's Al-Ghul appeared at the end, but in your opinion, and many in the audience as well, they would have preferred if Shado remained alive.

You can see what they're doing here, trying to make Green Arrow the new Batman of this "Expanded Universe"…and you hate to admit it's working. Even you can't deny it's a freaking good movie. The Post Credit scenes teasing Deathstroke and his family was amazing as well, though the one focusing on a hidden island makes you Wonder

Luke Cage: Power Man
Released on: February 4, 2011
Directed by: Francis Lawrence
Starring: Henry Simmons, Laz Alonso, Pam Grier, Terry Crews, Edi Gathegi and Simone Missick

Domestic Box Office: $66,502,861
International Box Office: $102,710,348
Production Budget: $65,000,000
Net Worldwide Gross: $104,213,209

Okay, this wasn't...that bad.

Oh who were you kidding? Lawrence why?! First Constantine and now this?! Can't you remain faithful to the fucking source material for once?!?

Bushmaster and Luke Cage being brothers?! Black Mariah being their mother!? All of them being in a gang and fighting for control of the city against Willis Stryker, who turns out to be his father and James Stryker his long lost brother?!? Luke Cage getting his powers due to being bathed in a strange compound due to a traffic accident?! That's freaking Daredevil, Lawrence!!! Learn about your fucking characters!!

The worst part is you could've forgiven this, despite it all there is enough entertainment and originality here as to make the story worth watching. The casting is amazing as well, you can see Sony put some clear thought into this...but the entire premise is so convoluted that you are not sure for who exactly you're supposed to be in favor of. Heck, the ending doesn't even clarify if Luke Cage stopped being a criminal at the end!

Fucking hell!! And since they made the movie so the only way you're getting the rights back now is either buying them or waiting 5 to 10 more years!

Green Lantern: Fear Itself
Released on: April 1, 2011
Directed by: Scott Derrickson
Starring: Mads Mikkelsen, Don Cheadle, Peter Dinklage, Andrew Garfield, Vanessa Hudgens and Jennifer Lawrence.

Domestic Box Office: $566,729,201
International Box Office: $632,905,175
Production Budget: $195,000,000
Net Worldwide Gross: $1,004,634,376

He…he actually dared to do it…he actually killed Hal Jordan at the beginning of the movie!!!

And it works!!

You don't know if it was in response to not getting Ryan Reynolds for the part, but making it so the entire Green Lantern Corps dies at Sinestro's hand at the beginning, with only John Stewart and Ganthet as the survivors, immediately set the stakes for the entire film.

And you loved it!! Whoever this Director is he knows how to do space fights and use VFX in just the right amount. And there are plenty of those! John and Ganthet teaching Kyle about the uses of the ring, Kyle having to find a way to deal with his growing relationship with Jade (teasing Alan Scott's appearance in the future) Sinestro looking for them along his personal Apprentice, Katma Tui, a final confrontation between both groups, The Freaking Martian Manhunter stepping in to help protect Earth!!! (How did you not see it coming! The clues were right there!!)

It was wild, it was intense, and it left the promise for more when the Post-Credit Scene showed Sinestro in front of what can only be the entire Sinestro Corps

Goddammit! You couldn't help but love the movie! Just when you think you're catching up, Kevin still finds a way to upstage you!

X-Men: First Class
Released on: May 25, 2011
Directed by: Alan Taylor
Starring: James McAvoy, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Kevin Bacon and Alicia Vikander.

Domestic Box Office: $107,810,473
International Box Office: $162,751,087
Production Budget: $159,000,000
Net Worldwide Gross: $111,561,560

What happened here? You actually thought that they had a good premise and some excellent casting as well. Well, as it turns out, though McAvoy and Coster-Waldau seemed to have a good dynamic going together there was a problem with the fact that Nikolaj was also working with Game of Thrones, and unlike your case they were unable to compromise, causing issues on set, and unexpected delays. This led to Hugh Jackman having to take center stage more than what was hoped for and somewhat diluting the character of Magneto.

And it's a shame because you can see a good script underneath…this. It probably didn't help that the Director didn't seem to know what was going on as you can see signs of reshooting on nearly every act. This story is supposed to be about rebooting the franchise from what you'd heard, and it just seems to be making the same mistakes as before. Most of the characters fall flat, and there hardly seems to be any effort to give them the time to properly develop them.

It probably didn't help that they had to follow up Wonder Man either. It just invited some unfair comparisons.

No freaking wonder Fox gave you Deadpool and Fantastic Four so easily; they were probably hoping to get something to make up for this disaster.

Get cracking...! Oh, you're already doing that... - Planning Session: Avengers (April 2011)
It's a brisk morning when you find yourself at your office going through some additional files you brought with you today. Unlike many other days these are not comics to look for references and relaxation, nor are they your many, many, many ideas for the future films you are already planning for the future of the MCU. Because of course there will be a future. You cannot conceive the idea of it failing, not with the overwhelming success of each and every movie; it had taken effort, tears, many nights just staying late, many arguments with Marvel and Directors alike…but you've done it. You're finally here, right at the final round…

Right at Avengers time.

Once behind your desk you set the documents out and spread them, displaying the pictures and notes attached to each and every one; talents, weaknesses, schedules…it is all there. If anyone could see you now they'd probably think you a stalker or something, but you had to make sure for each of them. They were your actors, stars, they were your future Avengers, and they needed to be up to the task.

Robert Downey Jr….Jason Momoa…Karl Urban…Margot Robbie…Ryan Reynolds…and Chris Evans…

Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Wonder Man and Captain America.

It brings a chill in your spine. You're really going to do it. You're really going to start the process for the Avengers!

You've been planning for this for so long now. So many ideas have come to your mind. You can see them clearly now; A Kree invasion force led by Ronan he Accuser, Loki being either willing or unwilling to help, Nefaria working with the heroes, Nefaria allying with the Kree, Einherjar fighting in New York, Captain America leading S.H.I.E.L.D. troops into battle, Iron Man activating hundreds of drones to fight, Wonder man being captured and used as a battery, Wonder Man fusing with the Power Stone temporarily…There's so much in your head, so many ideas that just clash against each other that you feel them bursting!

So let's see what you can come up with now!

This is a discussion update. There's no need to vote to make suggestions, just bring up your ideas for the movie. You can suggest villains, character arcs, supporting characters, specific scenes, casting choices, character development, interactions, and any other change you might want to incorporate or do to this movie.

A.N: I figure since you are already discussing then I might as well make it official. So just keep it up. We'll check on Directors next update.

Also, if you want to suggest a Director go ahead. I already have a list, but I'm willing to accept suggestions.

What time is it?! Direction Time! - Planning Session: Avengers (April 2011)
When organizing your ideas you can't help but feel that some of them seem to be a bit out there. But then again you haven't even made a pitch of your own so how could you know what's possible for the movie at the moment? What you can be certain of is the characters which will take place, the location where the Kree and the Avengers will fight (New York City of course) and the fact that Ronan the Accuser will be the one involved and perhaps the main villain of the entire movie.

As for Loki and Nefaria, you have ideas that involve them repenting, others that involve them joining the Kree, and also others that have them possibly redeeming themselves, though you're not sure how the audience will take it.

Then you also have to find the perfect way to introduce Wonder Man to the team…perhaps a Vegas show or a promotion in L.A.? Then there is the idea you had for Einherjar and Asgard aiding the fight…but wouldn't that take away from the Avengers themselves?

Ah, you'll think about it later.

But for all your skill at aiding writers, in the end you are not one. You don't have a Pitch this time to share with the Directors, so you will be depending mostly on their Pitch for the Avengers movie, and unlike other times you will not be going in with an already established relationship, be it good or bad.

So during the interview section for the Director you made sure to discuss with them your set of ideas and what you wanted for the Avengers film, getting to know them for the future cooperation you hope to have later on during the planning and production process.

Director Roll: 65

It was better than you expected, even if you were a bit sad to see some of them politely refuse.

Those who remained however seemed the most promising candidates for what you wanted of the Avengers film.

Beginning with the most enthusiastic, Joss Whedon has been waiting for a chance like this. He tells you of the deep love he has for the characters and you spent a lot of time just discussing your favorite comics (You also got him to sign your X-Men comics where he was the writer. Score!!!) As well as what he hopes to bring to the table. His ideas for the Avengers movie seem to be what one would expect, though his emphasis would be more on the Protagonist Chemistry and Script above other things; as he tells you that is one of the most critical aspects for the group.

Second on the list is another directing pair, though not David and Chad. Anthony and Joseph Russo, also known as The Russo Brothers have so far made their career in Television. Not that there's anything wrong with that! In fact most of their ideas for the shows they have directed stem from a deep understanding of the characters themselves and their motivations. You can be sure that they can write a great Script while also making sure that the Choreography can be as gorgeous as ever... or at least that's what they promise you.

Third on the list, Michael Bay; fresh off of his latest directorial work with the Transformers franchise he tells you he's enjoyed watching the Marvel movies for a while now, he always has a blast checking them out. He tells you of his idea for the movie, envisioning a great spectacle of action and never ending thrill. He will even bring his own VFX team for the shots as well as some Choreographers for the fight scenes.

Another choice is Jonathan Liebesman. He has made waves lately and he's already the top pick for the sequel to Wrath of the Titans. His work using VFX is magnificent, and he has displayed a keen understanding of the Protagonists in the story.

Among your own there's Matthew Vaughn, who having finished his work with Wonder Man is more than willing to continue with what could very well be considered a continuation. He has more experience with the Script, having an idea as to what he wants to happen, and the Choreography as well.

Jon Favreau has also expressed some interest in filming the movie, and with two successes under him you're almost inclined to agree. With Justin Theroux at his side, and a well-trained crew, he could work wonders. He's already shown you some ideas as to what to do with the Antagonists.

Well, if you want a movie that can show excellent Antagonist Chemistry then Justin Lin is your guy. He has directed many of the Fast and the Furious franchise so you know that the Choreography would be amazing.

F. Gary Gray
has not directed a film since Law Abiding Citizen (Loved that movie!) but he has shown some interest in the characters and the Protagonist Chemistry. As for the Script, he says he's got it covered.

For Shane Black, he prefers to have a more relaxed and out there premise for the Avengers. Something that will enhance the Protagonist Chemistry, as well as the VFX of the film to make a great spectacle for the eyes.

Well, Martin Campbell is a bit more traditional than expected, and his Script writing abilities are still as good as ever, he might still insist in a final fight atop a building though. His own Editing team would come with him as well.

Who to go for then?

There will be a 1 Hour moratorium to discuss.

[] [Director] Joss Whedon
[] [Director] The Russo Brothers
[] [Director] Michael Bay
[] [Director] Jonathan Liebesman
[] [Director] Matthew Vaughn
[] [Director] Jon Favreau
[] [Director] Justin Lin
[] [Director] F. Gary Grey
[] [Director] Shane Black
[] [Director] Martin Campbell

A.N: Alright guys, here's the deal. The bolded areas (besides the name) are the areas in Production which will receive a Bonus if the Director is selected. Once done the Director will give you his Pitch for the movie, which will be in the next update and can serve as a Summary of the entire movie so you know what to change and what's going on.

The Someone Else option is in case you are not satisfied with the selection. In which case you can put the Director you want for the movie. However I will then roll a 1d3, and you will lose the amount of months as it appears in the results.

If you have questions then go ahead.

First Pitch Ideas - Planning Session: Avengers (April 2011)
The Winning Vote said:
[X] [Director] Matthew Vaughn
Well…this has been interesting. On the one side, Matthew Vaughn is willing to take on the Avengers project.

On the other side…he's willing to take the Avengers project with a vengeance!!

After hearing the reviews on his movie (and hearing from an apologetic Brendan about the reason for such) Matthew had been incensed. He had worked hard on the movie, even going into a genre he had not that much experience in and making it work! He was even more disgusted with Berk and his actions; promptly telling Brendan there was nothing to apologize for. This resulted in a motivation in him to not only succeed here, but to succeed so hard that Berk will have no other choice but to publicly praise his movie!

Well…it's good to know he's on board.

As before he is willing to listen to your suggestions, but at the same time he has definite ideas on what to do for the movie which might be harder to change his mind on. Luckily most of the characters have already been fleshed out so you don't have to spend too much time in the movie re-introducing them, but there are two that Matthew feels need some explanation.

The first one: Loki.

Matthew has read about the character of Loki and has felt that the best interpretation given is the one by Walt Simonson's back in the 80s. The character there showed he was evil, but that there were depths unseen in him as well, not to mention an inherent selfishness that had him team up with the heroes if only so that only he be the one to win in the end. Matthew is sure he can work with this and give it a more tragic bent to the character in this movie.

As for Ronan the Accuser, Matthew has read all he can about the character, and his more recent "Noble" actions. His acts as a member of the Accuser Corps and his once marriage to Crystal, the Princess of the Inhumans, as well as his temporary rule over the Kree. With all that said, he wants to have Ronan serve more as "The Dreaded" during the film, not fully appearing until the second act (though mentions and conversations through images would be possible to flesh him out before that) where he can show his immense strength and power over everyone.

Having said that…

Nick Fury arrives at a S.H.I.E.L.D. research base. Fury meets with Nefaria who is examining the stones, complaining about the "Security measures" (I.E. Hawkeye and Mockingbird keeping an eye on him) Loki and a group of Kree soldiers then teleport into the room, subduing/killing of the guards (except Nefaria as he was their inside man all along) they move to take over the two stones. Hawkeye and Mockingbird intervene, taking the Tessaract as they, and Fury, escape.

The assembling of the Avengers then gets underway, with Phillip Coulson contacting Captain America and Nick Fury going for Tony Stark, both stressing the importance of the situation. Mockingbird is put in charge of the team looking for Wonder Man, which includes Hawkeye.

Meanwhile Loki and Nefaria are talking to the Kree Ship's Captain as Loki mocks him continuously and Nefaria just looks around the place. A transmission arrives from the Main ship, showing Ronan the Accuser demanding results.

Nefaria suggests getting Simon to make use of the Power Stone (only he can make proper use of it). Mockingbird contacts Fury telling him they'd found Simon…in the middle of Madison Square Garden as he is about to do promotional stunts. When Mockingbird and the rest of the agents try to talk with him Simon tells them to "talk to his agent".

Loki appears with Kree soldiers and challenges Simon, who accepts. Mockingbird calls for reinforcements when Simon is beaten by Loki ("I've fought with and against literal Gods, Mortal!"). The entire stadium is silent as they realize this is not part of the show. Loki makes use of his power to make them kneel as he pontificates. One man refuses and before Loki kills him he is distracted by the arrival of Captain America.

As he fights Loki to rescue Simon they are interrupted mid-fight by the arrival of Iron Man, making things more even, and then Thor who due to misunderstandings makes it into a four way fight (Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and Mockingbird Vs. Loki and the Kree Soldiers Vs. Thor Vs. Wonder Man). The Kree Soldiers teleport out, Loki is captured, and the heroes stop fighting.

Loki is in custody and starts seeding discord. He tries making a deal with Fury in exchange for his freedom, which he doesn't take but manages to plant doubts into every Avenger there; he also talks to every member of the Avengers, tricking them, exacerbating their issues, making them doubt and question themselves. Thor is somewhat immune as he's dealt with Loki before, but Loki instead tells him a story of their childhood, when he first tricked some kids who had been bullying him yet Thor took their side in the end.

With Loki imprisoned Nefaria talks with Ronan the Accuser. Nefaria explains how the plan is still going on, as Loki should have been taken to the same place the Tessaract is.

Meanwhile Thor, Clint, Bobbie, Steve, Simon and Tony find themselves in constant arguments due to Loki's influence and lies; The situation escalates even more when it's discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D. was trying to make weapons in order to defend themselves against the Asgardians. Loki's manipulations reach the Apex point as the entire team is bickering and divided amongst themselves. Mockingbird goes to confront Loki. Loki does not deny anything, taunting her as he shows her a tracker and saying "Time's up".

The next moment Kree soldiers appear inside the Helicarrier, Ronan the Accuser at their head.

You interrupted him right as he was getting to the good part since you needed some clarification before continuing.

There seemed to be less time being given to Ronan as this was his first true appearance, aside from some in which he's seen or talked to through a communicator. It does help with the Loki and Nefaria scenes, but it would reduce his screen time somewhat.

[] [Ronan] Trust that Matthew knows what he's doing and keep it as it is.
[] [Ronan] Ronan should make a big splash. Perhaps he appears and participates in the fight at Madison Square Garden.
[] [Ronan] Make Ronan appear from the very beginning, he is the one who should be seen at all time. (Negotiation Roll)

Then there's Loki and Nefaria. They're both clearly working with the Kree, and perhaps not completely willingly, but what is the relationship between them?

[] [Interactions] Strictly professional; both sides interact as little as possible and each has their own plans
[] [Interactions] Hostile; they are both jockeying for position, and though they work together, neither would hesitate to stab the other in the back.
[] [Interactions] Manipulative; both of them are in a battle of wits against the other, trying to either subvert or control the other for their own ends.
[] [Interactions] Cordial; Oddly enough they have found they work well together. Loki and Nefaria have found some trust in each other.
[] [Interactions] Something Else: Write In

As for the final fight, in which of course the entire Avengers will be you had to confirm; will SHIELD be seen contributing as well?

[] [SHIELD] Yes, SHIELD should also fight against the Kree.
[] [SHIELD] No, this movie is about the Avengers only.

With all of that clarified then it was time to continue the Pitch, unless there was Something Else you wanted to change. If so you better be careful; too many big changes and Matthew might just cut you off.

[] [Change] There is Something Else I think should change/be added.
-[] [Change] Write In:

A.N: Alright, here's the pitch. I'm not sure if we should keep on doing this, unless it's at the end of the process. I just feel that it takes a lot of the choices from under you, but we'll revisit this again later.

In the meantime, discuss and tell me what you think.

Together Fight as One! - Planning Session: Avengers (April 2011)
The Winning Vote said:
[x] Plan: Cordial Loki and Nefaria
-[x] [Ronan] Trust that Matthew knows what he's doing and keep it as it is.
-[x] [Interactions] Something Else: Starts off mostly professional semi-cordial, with it growing more cordial (father he never had & son he never had?) over time (as Ronan's time in the movie grows and Loki's motivations are explored: just because they have a cordial relationship doesn't mean Loki isn't an emotional wreck, he is one and perhaps Nefaria helps him through his pain) ending with both swapping to the winning/good side together.
-[x] [Change] There is Something Else I think should change/be added.
--[x] [Change] Write In: Add a Loki narration in the beginning to setup what he's learned of the Kree and the Avengers, perhaps it's implied he's explaining the Kree to Nefaria and the Avengers to Ronan.
--[x] [Change] Try to balance the fanservice of a 4 way fight and heroes fighting each other with careful attention to details to avoid the nitpicking (Details: Wonder Man most likely wouldn't be attacking Iron Man or Cap unless by accident, stress how Simon's inexperienced and has the most chaotic powers on top of it being an already chaotic fight, etc.)
-[x] [SHIELD] Yes, SHIELD should also fight against the Kree.
-[x] [Hulk] Yes.
--[x] [Hulk] In the meantime from Hulk to Avengers, Banner has minimized his amount of Hulk outs by bottling his emotions tightly (but hint that this isn't healthy in the long run), in fact he is currently on the longest streak without a "Green Incident" in over a year. Being forced to Hulk out to save humanity is something he regrets but the situation calls for it.
After clarifying the situation and the relationship between the two antagonists (and the fact that SHIELD will be involved in the final fight) you discussed some small changes and additions to the pitch, which he took in good faith. None of them were that big in the end as there as hardly any friction between you at this point. When you mentioned Hulk though he looked at you weirdly and asked if you had been paying attention to the notes he'd given you. Looking back at them your eyes widened when you saw that the Hulk was already included as one of the Avengers!

When did this happen! You were certain that you'd only mentioned the previous six! Did your mind play tricks on you, or did you subconsciously block what you'd done until it was mentioned to you? It was kind of scary to think about that, but you're still happy in a way. You had debated for so long as to whether Hulk should appear I the movie, having regretted you choice of keeping him out of the film. To see him finally be part of it all seemed to lift a heavy weight from your heart.

Matthew, seeing your mood restored, opted to continue the Pitch…

The Kree start wreaking havoc through the Helicarrier as Ronan goes directly in search of the Tessaract. With him he carries the Power Stone which has been embedded in his hammer. The Avengers are quick to react, each of them having to deal with their own issues; Iron Man and Captain America fight through the corridors against the Kree as they move to destroy the engines of the Helicarrier; Bruce turns into the Hulk and attacks friend and foe eventually fighting Thor; Hawkeye and Mockingbird move to the Holding Room where the Tessaract is at; Wonder Man is the first to meet Ronan and they proceed to fight…

As this is going on Captain America and Iron Man reach one of the destroyed engines, which they try to repair, but also have to face against the incoming Kree; Hawkeye and Mockingbird are fighting any incoming Kree, but is almost a desperate situation, only their own skill managing to slow them down; Thor and Hulk kept on fighting but Rick Jones arrives and manages to calm Hulk down, but an explosion breaks through the Helicarrier, pushing Rick out and Hulk jumps to save him. Thor then had to deal with incoming Kree troops as he moves to Loki's holding prison.

Meanwhile, the Helicarrier is going down.

Ronan dominates the fight with Simon, bringing him down and killing him. With it, the Power Stone in his hammer seems to shine as power flows through it. With it, Ronan is unstoppable as he moves through the Helicarrier. Iron Man and Captain America managed to keep the engine on but the Kree have done too much damage to the rest of the Helicarrier. Thor finds Loki but is tricked into entering the prison and then thrown down as Loki escapes as well.

Ronan arrives at the Tessaract holding room, Hawkeye and Mockingbird being held down. Before he grabs the Tessaract he's stopped by Coulson who threatens him with an unknown weapon. Ronan mocks him but mid-tirade he's actually pushed back by the gun. Before Coulson can shoot again Ronan mortally wounds him, takes the Kree with him and leaves his body along with Hawkeye and Mocking bird, as he feels they are no longer a threat to him.

The Helicarrier is going down, and Simon's body starts emitting some strange light as it start covering it. Simon awakens, takes a breath and almost as if in a trance powers up and flies out, moving just underneath the Helicarrier and pushing/holding it to the sea. It's a near thing but it did not crash in the city. Nick Fury meets with a dying Phillip hearing his last words.

Ronan, tasks Nefaria to use the Tessaract to open a path for the invasion, Loki is reprimanded and sent to aid Nefaria where they once more talk about the outcome and what Loki got up to. Back in the Helicarrier the remaining Avengers are gathered, with Simon trying to lighten the mood and joking about his supposed "Death" (There's no explanation, no one knows what the Power tone may have done to him after all) and failing as it falls flat and awkward. Nick Fury arrives and tells them of Coulson's death, showing his Captain America cards, and explains about the idea he believed in of a united team…before this all happened. He leaves them to think, eventually all fixing their gear, preparing and stealing a Quinjet to take the fight to Ronan.

In Stark Tower, which has been taken by the Kree, Ronan has activated the Tessaract and Kree small craft are already in the sky. He is interrupted by Tony. They banter a bit, and when Ronan goes for the kill shot he's sucker-punched through a wall by Wonder Man who sneaked up on them. As they fight Tony calls upon a new set of Armor and flies off. Ronan is enraged and commands Loki to protect the Tessaract as he goes against them.

The team fights their way into the City, having to deal with Kree troops, small craft and jets. Once they manage to get together Captain America gives order to the rest (Hawkeye and Mockingbird to infiltrate Stark Tower to shut down the device; the rest to fight the Kree until it's done; "Hulk…Smash"). We get scenes of the Avengers fighting the Kree and infiltrating the Tower. Loki seeing what's happening leaves to face Thor. Ronan manages to find Wonder Man and Hulk as they work together, facing both in combat, drawing more and more upon the Power Stone. Loki and Thor square off; SHIELD "Deserting" forces arrive and put themselves under the command of Captain America.

The fight all around seems to be at a stalemate until there are reports of bigger ships arriving, but thankfully no troop or capital ships yet. Thor manages to knock out Loki and sets to try and stem the tide. Captain America leaves the troops with order to defend as he moves to the tower. Hawkeye and Mockingbird managed to reach the top, with Hawkeye facing Nefaria s Mockingbird tries to stop the portal and Nefaria mocking them that they can't. Ronan's fight with Wonder Man and Hulk becomes more intense as now Iron Man is brought in to give support, and moving the fight to Stark Tower once more. Captain America meets with Nefaria, and manages to convince him that there is a chance at victory. Nefaria attempts to shut off the portal, and is mortally wounded by Ronan just as he's about to input the last sequence as his body starts glowing from all the energy he's been drawing from the Power Stone. Nefaria just has enough energy to tell Mockingbird what to do before he passes away

The Avengers together face against Ronan, with all of them working together Ronan is steadily losing. He draws more power…more power…managing to beat Thor back he finds his arm breaking down, and then the rest of his body as he no longer can get up or move as due to all the energy accumulated…he's going to blow up and probably destroy the entire continent at minimum!

With no other choice, Iron Man grabs Ronan and his hammer and flies into the portal, coming just at where a massive Kree fleet seems to be ready for invasion. He throws Ronan at them and falls just as Captain America gives the order to close the portal. Ronan and the Power Stone release a huge wave of energy blasting apart the entire fleet. With the Power Stone now in the vacuum of space.

Iron Man falls and is caught by Wonder Man, the team reunites and finally rest. Loki is taken into custody by Thor and returns to Asgard; Captain America takes Nefaria's body to give him a decent burial; Bruce goes back on the road with Rick; Hawkeye and Mockingbird take a week off to decompress; Iron Man makes new plans to convert Stark Tower into the team's headquarters; and the world celebrates as they are saved by Earth's Mightiest Heroes: The Avengers!

Wow…that was intense!! You have so many questions, so many ideas that perhaps could help the development of the film; ways that the characters could interact or be more fleshed out…but you see the time and know that anything you say now will just come out as a stumbling mess.

There is enough time for some questions, like: Is Coulson's death really necessary?

[] [Death] Yes, it's needed to unify the team.
[] [Death] No, it just seems too much.
[] [Death] Perhaps someone else could die instead?
-[] [Death] Who: Write In

Something that's been bothering you a bit about the Kree…Are they the Blue Skinned Kree or the Pink Skinned Kree? The comics did made mention that there was more than one, though the Blue Skinned tended to be among the top of their society.

[] [Kree] All Kree are Blue Skinned, they are an elite formation under Ronan.
[] [Kree] All Kree are Pink Skinned, they are a second rank formation under Ronan.
[] [Kree] It's a mix of Blue Skinned officers and Pink Skinned troops.
[] [Kree] Neither blue nor pink, they are Ruul.

There are some characterizations moments that you also hoped to add to the movie. Beginning with Captain America.

[] [Captain America] Have the scene where Phillip Coulson looks for Captain America take place at his family and friends graves to emphasize the "Man out of time" angle.
[] [Captain America] No need for that, the movie can do without it.

[] [Cap Scene] There's an additional idea for Steve's arc and characterization in this movie (write-in)

For Thor there had been some idea to have him summon a mighty host from Asgard to fight in the final confrontation, or perhaps even have Asgard intervene…Matthew says he can work with it, but is not that enthusiastic about it..

[] [Thor] In the middle of the fight, when they are about to be overwhelmed, Thor calls upon Asgard's forces to aid them in the fight.
[] [Thor] No need for that, the movie can do without it.

[] [Thor Scene] There's an additional idea for Thor's arc and characterization in this movie (write-in)

There is so much more you want to talk about, but you are really almost dead on your feet. You bid Matthew good night as you go to bed, and dream of colorful heroes saving the day.
