[X] Plan: Time to Expand
I agree that it means the Jedi could purchase serious warships, in theory. I just don't think they will; heavy cruisers and the like aren't something they need for patrol. They aren't even well suited for it, since what the Jedi really need is the ability to move quickly from place to place. A ship class with just enough defenses to discourage attacks by pirates and the like would be adequate for their regular needs.I don't see it as necessity yet, since of all the possible areas we can establish new routes it is the most peaceful one, and the Vong were described to be very unlikely to be starting any trouble. It is also a national border, so Republic will be patrolling that area.
The thing is that the wording for that letter gives a different idea. There's a difference between an armed ship and something that's considered a military grade. When something is military grade, its primary purpose is to take part in military actions. Think of the difference between refitted Consular-class ship and an Acclamator.
It reduces the PP cost pretty massively as it means you no longer need to bum it off the Republic; but it can be done without.@Voikirium - Just to clarify, I'm guessing we need the colonization ship for creating enclaves on completely uninhabited worlds like Ilum but not worlds that are already colonized (or in the process of colonization) like Taris?
Ahh, thank you.It reduces the PP cost pretty massively as it means you no longer need to bum it off the Republic; but it can be done without.
Agreed, something like Chu'unthor or SunGem would be useful when we've grown big enough.Although it might eventually be useful to get a capital ship of some sort and turn it into a mobile Temple. It would be a good backup base of operations if the ground installations were to be attacked.
I get the impression that it covers everything, big and small. Basically a license to purchase whatever military hardware we might want.Do we have enough manpower to crew a capital ship? A Hammerhead-class, which isn't the biggest ship around, has a crew of 300.
That said if the Letter of Marque covers snubfighters or things like low-crew gunships like the DP20 it can be rather useful.
We don't, but something like Hammerhead would be too large for our use, anyway. This eras versions of DP20 or Consular are what we would need, or other armed transports.Do we have enough manpower to crew a capital ship? A Hammerhead-class, which isn't the biggest ship around, has a crew of 300.

It isn't actually the space in this case - it's the material and resources; knowledge and insights. The longer we leave the Coruscant temple, the more likely it's picked clean of Jedi heritage.I don't know why we need all these temples on multiple planets when we can still fit all the Jedi and initiates on a single bus. Corrusant temple is absurdly huge all on its own.
Think, like, the Millenium Falcon/Ebon Hawke, ideally pre-refits.Question: What is roughly the limit on what we can buy without a letter of marque?
