There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

I don't see it as necessity yet, since of all the possible areas we can establish new routes it is the most peaceful one, and the Vong were described to be very unlikely to be starting any trouble. It is also a national border, so Republic will be patrolling that area.

The thing is that the wording for that letter gives a different idea. There's a difference between an armed ship and something that's considered a military grade. When something is military grade, its primary purpose is to take part in military actions. Think of the difference between refitted Consular-class ship and an Acclamator.
I agree that it means the Jedi could purchase serious warships, in theory. I just don't think they will; heavy cruisers and the like aren't something they need for patrol. They aren't even well suited for it, since what the Jedi really need is the ability to move quickly from place to place. A ship class with just enough defenses to discourage attacks by pirates and the like would be adequate for their regular needs.

Although it might eventually be useful to get a capital ship of some sort and turn it into a mobile Temple. It would be a good backup base of operations if the ground installations were to be attacked.

@Voikirium - Just to clarify, I'm guessing we need the colonization ship for creating enclaves on completely uninhabited worlds like Ilum but not worlds that are already colonized (or in the process of colonization) like Taris?
It reduces the PP cost pretty massively as it means you no longer need to bum it off the Republic; but it can be done without.

Agreed, something like Chu'unthor or SunGem would be useful when we've grown big enough.

Do we have enough manpower to crew a capital ship? A Hammerhead-class, which isn't the biggest ship around, has a crew of 300.
That said if the Letter of Marque covers snubfighters or things like low-crew gunships like the DP20 it can be rather useful.

I get the impression that it covers everything, big and small. Basically a license to purchase whatever military hardware we might want.

We don't, but something like Hammerhead would be too large for our use, anyway. This eras versions of DP20 or Consular are what we would need, or other armed transports.

[X] Plan: Time to Expand

We're still very short on manpower and two routes is kinda excessive. I'm a little displeased with the coruscant focus of all of these plans, but not much to be done about that.

[X] Ignoring Corrusant, One Patrol Route
-Recolonize Taris Jedi Alcove (80 PP)
-Send a Jedi with a Republic archeological expedition(15 PP)
-Attend Czerka Asset Auction (20 PP)
-Ossus Reformation Bill: The Republic Senate is currently arguing over what matter of aid should be given to the native Ysanna. One bill you have seen looks very interesting. (Massive bonus to rebuilding of Ossus if this passes. -15 PP if backed and fails. As a subject matter expert, Bao-Dur coming out in support would make its passage a near guarantee.)
-Request a Letter of Marque, authorizing the Jedi Order to own and operate military grade ships. (150 PP)
-Establish a Patrol Route in the Expansion Region (Part of the Galaxy brutally exploited by corporate interests, pushed to the brink by war, and left to die once it was no longer lucrative enough. Chaos rains as Sith-Imposed regimes fall apart. In many cases, the Jedi dispatched here will be the first, last, and only order on world.) (+20 PP)

[X] Plan Temple and Guns

I don't know why we need all these temples on multiple planets when we can still fit all the Jedi and initiates on a single bus. Corrusant temple is absurdly huge all on its own.

Any upgrade to our ability to defend the few Jedi we have is worth getting in my opinion, so I'm going with the Guns vote.

I'd like an option to reform things to focus more on Jedi + support staff. I think we had a few votes like that in the past, with Jedi getting regular investigators and squads of soldiers when we worked with the Republic? The new norm should be that every Jedi, an incredibly rare and powerful asset, always has a group of bodyguards, specialist droids, and technical experts with them on patrol. We shouldn't be asking if we have enough Jedi to crew some giant warship, because the crew should be regular workers who know how to work their stations escorting a handful of Jedi.

It isn't actually the space in this case - it's the material and resources; knowledge and insights. The longer we leave the Coruscant temple, the more likely it's picked clean of Jedi heritage.
