There is no emotion... (A Jedi Order Quest)

It is not impossible, but I find it unlikely. Hutts are gangsters and corrupt businessman, and going into a direct war is bad for business. It is better to either change to easier/other targets, move to other, less visible forms of crime or ally with other underworld elements to undermine your enemies.
Well, I was thinking more if they find their business getting massively stifled by the republic, they may decide to solve he problem with bunt force if more subtle means don't solve the anti-crime problem...
I mean, they could decide to make an example of anticrime forces to try and scare the wider republic into stepping down their anti-crime efforts, kid of like why the Japanese in WW2 tried to keep the US from interfering with their expansion by attacking pearl harbor... 🤔

Hmm, that could happen depending how things go, but it would be a massive mistake for the Hutts, just like how the Pear Harbor was for the Japanese. Blatant action like that would vindicate the people of the Republic and have them start pushing harder.

Well... Yes, that's the idea. We want to propose something reasonable and righteous on the surface to get the plan to start taking action rolling, and then let the hutts escalate the situation so we can get full war reaction instead of the motion dying in the war weary senate.

It would get us what we want, yeah. Although I think it's unlikely the Hutts would declare open war. They're a smaller polity, it'd be like Belgium declaring war on France. I think it's more likely they would try to escalate criminal activity (or even deniable terrorism) in a shadow war with the Republic to try to force it to ease off and let them go back to making credits hand over fist. That would turn into a question of whether the Republic's will or the Hutts' bank accounts would run out first.

[X] Join the Syncretic Cults in their war, deploying Jedi to aid them and to remind the Hutts that you survived. (Go to war against the Hutt Cartel, aid Syncretic Cults and Hutt Rebellion, likely will gain Detachment)

That second write-in smacks of trying to have one's cake and eat it too.

I have a different option in mind, if people will hear it.

We aren't married to the Republic. If anyone would consider the Jedi independently aiding the Hutt insurgents as 'betraying' the Republic, then they don't understand the relationship. And should be reminded.

We cannot be bribed or dissuaded in this matter. The Republic is welcome to join, but the Order must do as it must.

I'm putting together a write-up counterargument for the first option, but wanted to get the position out now so people can think on it.

What is the return of the Jedi for, if not this?

Which is why I'm going with the standard vote, I want to see the unrestrained option.

On the one hand, war is bad. And the Jedi aren't really 'win a war on their own' levels. On the other hand...a Jedi Order that isn't tied at the hip to Republic interests is interesting, especially once the True Sith show up (if they even do). On the third, mutant, hand...a Jedi Order that isn't tied at the hip to the Republic may have more options, but also less implicit support.

Hmm.

Eh, it's something different and screw slavers:

If the republic can help in republic space that's great. This is why the Jedi exist though.

And now my full option for our gentle persuasion.

[X] Plan: Glorious Jewel
-[X] Write In: "The Republic may do as it pleases. But if it wishes to recover, to truly recover, then it should not allow the fester to prevent its healing. As long as the Kadijic menace persists, as long as the cartels encroach, there will be no respite, no end to the missing children, the plundered worlds, the climate of fear and corruption. We are all of us under attack, and allowing the cartels to delude us otherwise does not stop them from eating us. We will never be free and peaceful and prosperous so long as the rot of their invasion goes unchallenged. We can lie down and slowly bleed out, or we can actually fix the problem before it poisons us. Make your choice. The Jedi shall make its own. You did not surrender to Exar Kun, nor Mandalore the Ultimate, nor Darth Revan, nor Darth Malak, nor the Triumvirate. It is your families, your friends, your homes, your wellbeings, all under threat, the cartels are simply quieter about it. Do not surrender now. Or it shall all be for naught. Remind your senators that the Kajidics already declared war, and remain at war so long as their occupation of free Republic worlds do nothing to resist."

Sudden thought that occurred and I wish I'd thought of before I'd posted - can we sink any of our extra PP float into this write-in?
