This plan is more likely to see us shunted on to the street due to the time commitment of making 2-3 complex masks. Tactics with our currently available materials (like using glass to reflect zombie hood at the horde and pass by unnoticed) are what are required if you actually want visc. Attempting to craft our way out of this is more likely to see us gain nothing.
? Screentime takes half an hour, since we just did it in last update. Sneaky mask depends on what exactly we do, but given that we already in spot where we have resources to craft and that we already made this kind of masks in past(assuming that we made Shade's mask or that we understand process behind crafting it, which is a fair assumption), I don't see total crafting time exceeding an hour or perhaps two in more extreme case. At which point you have the thing you need to trade and the thing you need to get past security and ensure survival and 22 whole hours to do your thing.

Like calling this "2-3 complex masks" is just straight up hating. Do better.

With the Specter I tried to focus on materials we could easily have in the salvage site. I think the focus on memory as a mechanic has strong thematic ties with the post-apocalyptic world to give us the leeway to finish the sneaky mask on time. With it on hand it might even cut travel time to the Warlord.

Do you think it could be workable as a part of Smoke on the Water? I'd also like to explicitly add the outline tactics of the dynamic entrance of your earlier post. It's so theatrical and Dorian.

It's pretty great, basically what we want. Primary phasing ability, being made out of modern materials for some boost. Secondary retrocognition is neat, and I like overall theme of it.

[x] Wolfy

I was wrong - crafting the mask took only 30 minutes. I care a lot more about Daria than I do about Visceralism, but there's no plan vote to engage with the characters so I guess I'm left with voting "please don't trade our only healing mask."

I propose we update Smoke in the Water taking account to the ideas that came up later.. To make sure they inform Dorian's approach.

[X] Plan Smoke on the Water
-[X] Hemokinesis
-[X] Craftsman
-[X] While we are here, craft secondary Screentime
-[X] Craft sneaky mask that would excel at phasing/intangibility against mundane opponents
--[X] Craft The Specter
-[X] Following Screentime vision, make your way toward Warlord
-[X] Trade Screentime for Viscerality or Visceraltiy implant
--[X] Depending on time constraints, craft mask that would let you understand Viscerality better
-[X] In your remaining time gather what resources you can (especially medicine), craft masks you find useful for survival or additional copies of Screentime for future trading and leave

[X] Plan Smoke on the Water

Yeah this plan seems to be a good mix of spending time to make going for the magic not suicidal while not spending too much time thus allowing us to leave this world and not get trapped

[X] Plan Smoke on the Water

Sounds good to me, don't care about the survivors even if I feel bad for them. Perhaps we spend some time to craft a mask to purify ourselves as well though?

[X] Plan: Heading Out And Experimental Preparations.
-[X] Hemokinesis
-[X] Craftsman
-[X] Make Mask
--[X] Make two blood related masks, similar to The Crimson Lost (albeit weaker at the beginning, since it's the beginning). It might be impossible, but try to create some kind of beacon, that you specifically would be able to sense, in the hopes that it will allow you to navigate your way back to this world in the future. As for materials, it'd be best to prioritize what you have on available and doesn't require a lengthy amount of time to acquire.
-[X] Socialize: Scott
--[X] Say your goodbyes and give Scott a farewell gift (the above blood mask) and inform him about what to watch for when wearing a mask for too long & taking breaks, you shall also spend a bit of time to help him acclimate to his new mask in case of any unexpected mishaps.
-[X] Find Warlord
--[X] Trade with the second blood mask you made.
-[X] Go Downstreet
--[X] Before you finally leave it would probably be a good idea to take some supplies with you, like a backpack and food. Because who knows, the next world you journey to might end up being in an even worse apocalypse.

I like all our current masks and don't want to give them up at the moment.
I might have packed up too much into this plan, but hopefully not.

@Wolfy We have discord confirmation that with greater Street attunement, we can increase our length of stay. Do we have your blessings on adding a part to make sure Dorian takes one of the cobblestones?

--[] This time, attempt to pick up one of the cobblestones of the street as you walk. Sing with it, crooning a tune as you walk where the street takes you.

Keep it simple. Right now we are doing risky thing so make sure we don't die and get magic we want. We will have time to attune street later on.

Regarding attunement, I wouldn't fuck with the street given that street might decide to fuck back, until we know that we are allowed to do it. We know that singing can let us attune more, so much safer way is to craft mask that would let us sing/understand street better.

I agree with Wolfy on this one, currently we are taking the cobblestone with zero knowledge on how the Street would react. If we up our attunement the normal way, through singing/understanding mask, we can gauge how the Street would react (if any) with much less risk. I do understand the appeal of the Cobblestone mask, but I feel that it would probably be best put off till we understand the Street more.

Lets talk about it for a second. Street is our meal card - as long as we don't die and as long as we keep access to street, our success is merely a function of time. The former is not only a matter of being passive though; don't forget that our first stint had us thrown into middle of a zombie horde. It is quite possible that we will be thrown next to a monster or a natural disaster or even in a world experiencing some kind of world ending event, to say nothing of worlds having unfriendly physics(i.e. Facelessness). As such it is imperative that we get ourselves a baseline defense that can handle most of thing we can reasonably expect to face. Luckily for us, Masks are capable of providing number of get-out-of-jail bailout abilities and Viscerality should do wonders for our ability to survive stuff(having backup bodies would be neat).

For the later, there are three ways we can lose access to street, aside from dying. Losing our opportunity to walk out, breaking some unknown rule and losing access and Street having some kind of limit that we might reach(i.e. 10k trips). Similar to avoiding death, we can avoid this with Viscerality and Masks - with Viscerality we can make it so we can't get knocked out and similar, and then just have a couple of Masks that would facilitate our escape so we can avoid capture. For the rules, there might be things we could do that would have Street close to us. Perhaps getting infected with some disease, or touching the cobblestones or any number of things. The solution to this is to be careful and slowly grow to understand the Street, either by using masks to gain understanding or by talking with other people we find walking down the Street.

Finally, the finality of Street. Rather, the idea that "Street walk might at some point end". In general we don't like our reliance on the Street as we don't understand it - thus our goal is either to understand the Street until it becomes a reliable tool we can just use as we wish, or to create our own means of traversing multiverse so we are not stuck with Street's own rules. This would be sort of a endgoal for us I suppose. But that's for much furtherer in the quest than we are right now; for now we should focus on obtaining Viscerality without fucking dying.

Perhaps it would do to take things slow then instead. And experiment with the street in other ways. I brought it up because a few members in the discord expressed significant dissent at the idea of staying in the worlds for a short time. I wanted to allay their concerns and engage in street attunement earlier if we can..

There is a certain concept I started thinking about. I like to call it Face:

Elder's Visage
  • Improve Viscerality. If users lack Viscerality, user gains Viscerality instead
  • Gain short range telekinetic implements suitable for surgery and biomanipulation
  • Gain biological scanner
  • Mask counts as Visceralist artifact, and can be upgraded as such
Last thingy. Now, Viscerality and Masks work very well together for a number of reasons we talked about earlier, but lets take it a step furtherer. By crafting Masks which can directly be upgraded by Visceralism, we enter a new dimension of synergy since now we have new ways to improve our masks. If we take yet another step further, we arrive at Faces - basically Masks but completely using Viscerality. Once we get there there's not telling what we can do. We basically completely Masks as a magic, which might have very broken effect.

We are still ways off, for sure, but I think that synergy between two magics is much greater than what I thought.

I've been considering the idea of visceral graft implemented into the masks as well. This could be used for resolving issues on mask loaning. Make the masks semi sentient and enthralled under Dorian's control for instance. And things like Gabbie's idea about the salesman's due.

We could just do plain Viscerality, but that kinda feels like treading different iterations of the same steps. Why not pursue an entirely novel frontier instead?

huh reading through the plan this is pretty suicidal we have barely any combat ability and I'm fairly sure a 15 potential mask isn't much better than the equivalent of an olympic athlete at what we're doing. I don't think our social skills are even supernatural just really really really good.

We are hoping that we get hard carried by vision we had. In case it doesn't work out our backup is phasing away and running to the Street.

There is a decent chance of failure resulting in our death though, yes.

Look I'm not shitting on the plan just its stupid reckless I'm still not yet attached to the mc. Does make us seem pretty morally deplorable but its not like evil evil.
