(Recruit Regiment (2nd Andernian Guard): 75 +14 (Dorothea) +0 (Wealth) = 89)

Progress: 3/7. In Progress.

Dorothea clenched her hand open and shut experimentally, feeling slightly awkward being out of the sacred protections she usually donned everywhere. But it was just right there within her view, so she knew it was safe and secured with none daring to come close to the blessed armor in a mix of awe and respect. They wouldn't imagine it so, especially when she stood before the recruits standing at attention, many of them barely able to keep their eyes straight forward in anticipation of whatever she was about to do.

She nodded respectfully to the Drill Sergeant who returned the gesture, then stepped forward with a loud clear of her throat. "All of you present have shown considerable proficiency in your CQC drills, so much so that according to some of your instructors, you may even be getting a little too overconfident." The Lycoris Knight then visible relaxed and rolled her shoulders, sure that she was all warmed up now. "So if you're that good, let's have a little challenge. Group into teams of five, now. Pick whoever you feel like you'd work the best with."

Dorothea waited for the recruits to hurriedly obey and form their 'squads.' Then she gestured to the first group to come approach, having them halt only a few steps away. Now, it was the instructor's turn to bark the orders, giving the Brilliance Knight a brief moment to quickly study the future soldiers of House Iris. "Right, so you lot think you're hot shit?! Let a real retainer of House Iris show you how outclassed you can be, especially on the battlefield where you could encounter anything! But if you're good as they say and can take down Lady Dorothea, you all get an extra hour of sleep tonight!"

The woman amusedly noticed a determined and desperate fire light up in the recruits' eyes at that promise and they swiftly readied themselves with shifts into well-drilled hand-to-hand combat stances. She matched them and gently ignited the circuits within her legs and arms, tightly controlling how much energy was fed to the solarium within her veins. She didn't want to kill or maim these unaugmented humans, for sure.

Hence why she had stripped off her armor in the first place.

To their credit, it seemed that the boots knew that there was no reasoning behind playing fair and attacked all at once from different angles. But to Dorothea's experienced eyes that lit up with a slow blink which fueled her focus, the gaps were obvious and easily exploitable, especially with how fast her enhanced limbs reacted at the speed of her thoughts. Hands shot out and pulled with incredible strength totally unfitting for her frame, then hurled bodies over the heads of the other waiting teams to crash down into the sandpit on the other side of the field. What very few hits that actually came through were met with a sensation like punching an iron wall, the reinforced flesh easily shrugging off the attempts with laughable ease.

By the time Dorothea took another blink to mentally disengage, the first five were definitely defeated. She forced herself exhale noisily, allowing the glowing circuits to fade from her exposed arms and legs. Once she was sure that the energy had been properly recycled, she turned to address the stunned recruits. "Next. You don't have a choice to back out," She calmly added to a few that were already raising their hands in surrender.

"Absolutely!" The Drill Sergeant snapped in agreement and crossed their arms at the despairing recruits. "Take the beating now and learn that you're eventually going to be outclassed out there on the battlefield. You're going to run into tough shit out there, maybe even tougher than Lady Dorothea, and what are you going to do then? Brag about being top turd out of a pile of them? No, you're going to see the others buy time and then figure out what the fuck to do! So get thinking, real quick before it's your turn to die!"

(Design Aircraft (Hellkitty): 31 +7 (Radana) +0 (Wealth) = 38)
(Design Aircraft (Witchfire): 73 + 7 (Radana) +0 (Wealth) = 80)

Progress: 7/6. Completed!

Hellfire Mk1 has been added to Plane templates.

Radana knew that the seat had been rated and checked for compatibility with an individual wearing Guardian suit, but she still held her breath anyway whilst lowering herself down into it. Once she was sure she was properly sitting, she flashed a thumbs up to the ground crew who waved back and began to back away, tugging to detach the cables connected to the aircraft. She grasped her helmet and slid it smugly on, basking for a moment in its familiar warm embrace before toggling on the communications systems with a slid of the eyes. "Testing, testing."

"Mic check cleared, I can hear you," The test pilot in front of her happily declared, speaking into a regular flight dome instead of another Guardian suit. They began to quickly flick through a variety of switches and levers that Radana could feel awaken the machine around them, made especially clear when the cockpit neatly rose up and closed over their heads. "Right, all checks cleared so far. Are you ready, Lady Radana? I'm going to start taxing."

The Camellia Knight sent an affirmative text before pausing to vocalize it too, sheepishly remembering that the pilot's equipment surely wasn't as advanced as the sacred armor of the Helmsmen. They took it in stride and soon, the prototype aircraft was rolling down the makeshift runway to line up for ignition. Radana took the brief time to go over and confirm her suit was properly linked to the jet's copilot systems, wanting to directly receive the data obtained from the flight. She knew that a certain somebody would be more than interested to have such data on hand, just in case.

Then she felt it, the moment when the powerful engines ignited. Slowly, surely, their roar grew louder and louder with every passing second with the pilot clearing the final pre-flight procedures. The moment she spied them reaching for the throttle lever, Radna sucked in a breath and subtly clenched her hands. Across her entire body, circuits lit up to quickly reinforce her body.

This proved to be handy in resisting the sudden application of G-force on her when the plane began to rapidly accelerate. She held on tightly to the seat and watched on while the pilot calmly began to pull, directing the flaps of the Witchfire Mk1 to point downwards. Bit by bit, the aircraft rose higher and higher, soon entirely off the ground to gain altitude.

Once sufficient height and speed as accomplished, the wheels were retracted while the pilot happily reported a successful takeoff. Only now did Radana release her breath, feeling completely fine in body thanks to her armor's sealed systems, but still she could feel her head spinning, especially when she glanced to the side and saw the crimson background of Andernia IV staring back.

After a moment to settle down, she nodded and told the pilot one thing. "Go through whatever trials you normally do. I'm interested to see how it all goes."

"As you wish, let's put her through the paces!"

(Recruit Regiment (1st Andernian Guards): 60 +7 (Kat) +0 (Wealth) = 67)

Progress: 6/7. In Progress.

(Recruit Regiment (1st Andernian Guards): 28 +14 (Violet) +0 (Wealth) = 42)

Progress: 8/7. Completed!

1st Andernian Guard has been recruited in Pendragon.

In hindsight, perhaps trying to slyly find an alternative guest speaker at the induction event for the 1st Andernian Guards wasn't such a good idea. You admittedly had been rather desperate, trying to figure out a way to weasel your way out of needing to give a public speech that surely would be recorded in the annals of the unit's history. Perhaps just showing your face in the background would be enough, as uncomfortable as that already was to you. You had even managed to trim it down to just a single battalion, the Royals of 1st Andernian Guard.

But then, when you watched in dismay at Kat fumbling with her prepared speech, her full nervous mannerisms on display, you knew one of two things could happen. The first was that you committed to this and allowed the Hyacinth Prism onto the podium, where she'd likely drop dead of a panic attack midway through her stutters, thus commemorating the momentous occasion with already a death on their hands. Surely nothing but a good omen, said nobody.

Or you could go up there yourself, without any sort of prepared speech or talk to the newly trained soldiers.

...there really was only one choice, damn your bleeding heart. Kat nearly broke out in a cold sweat at the sensation of your hand touching her head, only to very minutely relax at the gentle sensation. "Relax. I'll handle this," You promised, all smiles on the outside and all dread within. She numbly nodded and watched you step past the confused organizers for the stage, where you immediately drew the attention of both attending soldiers and civilians alike.

There was a quick bark from the newly appointed commander and all of the 1st Andernian Guard snapped to prompt attention. They paid no heed to the flashing cameras coming from the attending press and family, their gazes locked firmly on you approaching the microphone. You could feel the weight of their muted expectations buried beneath the layers of freshly drilled discipline, a mix of eagerness mixed with trepidation at whatever graves you could order them to dig.

Though to be fair, perhaps it was going to yours as you stared out, mind churning to try and come up with something to say. Anything really that could perhaps constitute of something a little more than just boilerplate flattery, which surely would disrespect the incredible efforts these patriots had already gone through. They had sweated, they had trained, they had burned to perfection for this moment-!

Or at least near-perfection when your searching eyes happened to fall on a very apparent mistake one of the troops had unfortunately overlooked. It was so noticeable that you couldn't help but voice it aloud, your voice carrying through the scene clearly and loudly. "Private Wells. Your helmet strap is undone."

The resulting surprise from that casual mention was actually enough to shock the soldiers out of their statuesque stoicism, aided when the aforementioned recruit broke discipline and let out a loud curse while frantically fumbling with their gear. More than a few snickers broke out, some of them even having a slight mocking note to them as if boasting they were so much better. It only added to the embarrassment of the exposed trooper then, who looked like they were about to faint from being so singled out.

Then you continued to speak, a slight disapproving note in your voice. "Private First Class Liu. Private Maddison. Corporal Tiber. What's so funny? Do you think you would never make a mistake like that?" You dared with a frown. "Are you so perfect that you have surpassed your fellow human? Please, step up if you are so, I believe we may have to correct a few forms then."

The ill-mannered snicking very quickly stopped at your direct naming, the identified soldiers all rapidly paling and trying their best to shrink under the gaze of their disapproving colleagues and superiors. You had words for the latter as well, turning to face the individual who led that section. "Captain Weiss. I expect better, especially as you must take responsibility for those under your command."

The officer blanched and looked ready to throw themselves at your feet to beg for forgiveness. Yet at your next words, they and all the others froze, even the press audience. "Which means ultimately, it is also a failing on my part, being the authority in charge of you all." You looked out over the now enthralled listeners, carefully choosing your next few words. "As a daughter of House Iris, there is no higher power for me to pass such responsibility to then. Your glories are mine. Your mistakes are mine. I share my luck with you, for good or ill.

"Yet in the same vein then, you share my dreams and desires, that which promises a better tomorrow than today. And now, you are all armed and equipped to carry out these oaths that we share, that we wield power in the name of those we protect." Backs straightened up and chins were lifted higher, with both pride and understanding of their duty. "It would be better if all we loved was always safe and secure no matter what. But such peaceful times unfortunately do not come without effort, on both my part and yours. I will do my best to then ensure that such peace are always welcomed reprieves, but for when such must be fought for, I ask only one thing: are you prepared to do your part?

"Are you, the 1st Andernian Guard, truly ready to fight for House Iris?"

There was a single loud resounding cheer that answered your question and you put on your best smile, stepping away from the podium. With a snap of your hand to your chest, like you were holding up the flat side of a blade to your face, you saluted your new soldiers and they responded in kind with perfect synchronicity. You held it for a few moments before giving a single wave that had the audience cheering while the troops held their salute, only finally dropping the stance once you were fully off the stage. From there, the officers went through and dismissed their subordinates to partake in well-earned leave, to spend some much needed time off after all the training before returning back to military life.

Kat met you with wide eyes filled with amazement. "T-that was...incredible!" She gushed and you coughed, trying your best to hide your embarrassed cheeks. "Better that what I-I had! You set it up...perfectly!"

"Set up?" You asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You...those s-soldiers, they did it at your orders. R-right?" She repeated expectantly and you confusedly blinked. "Y-you knew all their...names."

"Well, of course I did," You replied with a frown, genuine confusion in your voice. "It's only a battalion of names and faces. It's not like I had to memorize the entire regiment."

Kat's jaw dropped and you idly wondered if there was something the matter before shaking your head. Better to not press any further and just retire to your office to relax. Honestly, a battalion of names was nothing compared to all the information you had to collect, process, and refine for your schemes and conspiracies in the shadows. Was it really so unusual?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- At this point, you could probably hand Violet a spoon and she'd somehow turn it into a shovel for the hole she keeps digging.

Cycle 12.0
You very pointedly closed the various news articles covering the commissioning event of the 1st Andernian Guard and squeezed your eyes shut, trying to avoid the overwhelming urge to curl into a ball to hide from all the attention being thrown your way. As it had turned out, your improvised speech had been quite eye-catching. Too much so for your personal preference.

Almost every single media outlet that reported on your speech came with personal editorials praising you, singing praise so unabashedly positively that skeptics could easily think it were organized or orchestrated for pure propaganda. Yet even those who half-joked it so on the digital forums always came with the admittance that were it simply a public stunt, they would still readily embrace it so regardless. Such was the power they attributed to the words coming from your mouth.

Goodness, now your face was truly bright red and you lightly pressed your palms against your cheeks to try to hide them, even if nobody else was in the office. All your subordinates had their own activities, including Radana who apparently was overseeing the last of the Witchfire trials. It left you some very rare alone time to soak and process in the public reception of your actions without any sort of reassurance or teasing from your best friend, both of which were usually very welcomed distractions to help take your mind off things. The less you were noticed, the more you liked it!

You finally let out a haggard half-scream, half-sigh and slumped in your chair. Almost against your will, your hand shakily reached up and reopened one of the articles, the video of the speech immediately auto-playing upon successful load. You morosely watched from your horrid posture, eyes glued entirely to the facade of a Solar Princess exuding confidence she surely should not possess. Not with how her greatest desire was to remain the unseen shadow behind the throne, the one who idly tugged on strings to put on the illusion of freedom for the masses. A dramatic grand play of drama and intrigue, one that pushed the audience to their seat's edge with bated breath, wondering and hoping it would all resolve itself somehow...and it did. Because there was no real stakes.

Because you were there to twist and pull things back into place, always completely in control with a quiet confidence you knew what you were doing. Just like what both my parents always could do.

The captured video finally came to an end and you closed your eyes, stewing in the silence that followed and the thoughts bouncing around your head. This...you could still recover the hand off to your sister perhaps, but the idea of simply vanishing was definitely not going to happen. Not after all the attention now being driven your way from your actions and you had to come to terms with that.

It certainly wasn't what you wanted and it definitely would make moving in the shadows just a tad bit harder. You'd have to put in a little more extra work to help distance yourself from being the direct source of your schemes, but it wasn't impossible. You had already done so with establishing Dorothea as an intermediary spymaster, who played her role to a tee and never knew you didn't necessarily need her to keep you in the loop. She was another face to help shield yours from being immediately linked back to, a useful one that wasn't aware of the greater implications at play, only the duty that was at hand.

Sometimes, I don't understand what you ask me to do. But I do it anyway because I trust you.

And it goes both ways, as there are none other that I could entrust with this. Go, my Iron Flower.

Very well. Violet, be good until I return.

Old memories that you gently avoided submerging in by opening your eyes. "Right," You murmured and shifted about, fixing your posture. "No time to think about that. Time to perhaps organize some...insurance in case trusting my sister doesn't work out. Stars, I hope I don't need to use this."

Resource Stockpile: 30/30

Create a plan that you and your aides will execute over the duration of the cycle. Each person will have a general order that they will attempt to carry out at your command. Orders can be repeatedly taken by multiple characters for greater progression, but characters will be locked in the order until it is finished. Many actions will require a target.

---[ ] Requires Target City

--[ ] [Stewardship] Found City.
Put forward a concentrated effort to unite previously distant rural communities into a new joint union capable of supporting a concentrated industrial effort. Found a new city that increases Industry by five (5). Requires four (4) progress.

--[ ] [Stewardship] Construct Chain.
Meet with contractors and build a new specific industry in the system. Cost varies. Each building chain may only be built once per system.
---[ ] Requires Target City
----[ ] Requires Building Choice

----[ ] Data Reliquary. The signature monument of the Helmsmen, a testament to their perceived duty to preserving information at all costs if the worst should ever come. The information kept below is reflected in the grandeur above, with only those ordained with the greatest duties able to access the sacred archives unfiltered. Increases Influence by ten (10). Requires two (2) progress. This building must be constructed first before all others in every system of House Iris.

----[ ] Chrysanthemum Scales. A regal and ornate building that serves as the system's headquarters for marketplace and trade officers. It is staffed by a mix of Brilliance Knights and Prisms suited for administrative duties, using their Solarium circuits to process incoming information quicker and come up with streamlined delivery chains to ensure a healthy marketplace for the people. Increases Wealth by eight (8). Decreases Resources by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

----[ ] Lycoris Sanctuary. The Lycoris Knights are those Brilliance Knights who help maintain public order, acting as both counselors and confessors for those in need. This also makes them quite keen on what the public currently feel is most pressing, and so what will best appeal to them. Increases Influence by ten (10). Decreases Wealth by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

----[ ] Arms Facility. Glowing sparks of industry fly between these interconnected factories, an ever hungering machine that consumes raw material to process and refine into tools of war. Already while the metals cool, the air is filled with the cries of soldiers being put through proficiency training to use these weapons fresh from the forge. It is a well-oiled union that fuels the fires of the defense industry.
Benefits and costs varies. Enables recruitment for specified troop kit. This may be taken multiple times with different specializations.
-----[ ] Requires Named Troop Outfit
Infantry: Increases Military by four (4). Decrease Resources and Wealth by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

----[ ] Void Drydock. In order to maximize production and streamline the process, it is best if large voidships are actually built in the vacuum of space, or as close as possible to it. The orbit around a planet is an ideal spot for such a task, especially when paired with a space elevator on the ground to facilitate efficient resource from planetside. Should this link be cut off, the facility grinds to a halt. Benefits and costs varies. Enables recruitment for specified ship class. This may be taken multiple times with different specializations.
-----[ ] Requires Named Ship Class

Destroyers: Increases Military by four (4). Decrease Resources and Wealth by four (4). Requires four (4) progress.

-----[ ] Star Armory. The allure of grand fortifications remains strong even when among the stars, so the technique has simply been refined and adapted to suit the needs of modern war. It is on a larger scale than any similar structure that may have once existed on ancient Terra, a necessary adjustment to accommodate the more vast nature of stellar warfare. It is not unusual for an entire community to spring up around such a base to do business with those quartered within. Increases Military by six (6). Decreases Wealth and Influence by six (6). Housing for three (3) regiments. Berth for one (1) destroyer. Basing for one (1) wing. Requires six (6) progress.

-----[ ] Fleet Port. What can be easily mistaken for construction around natural formations is actually purposefully shaped to accommodate for the planned housing of enormous ships meant to cross the void of space. Even when the star sailors onboard rest, the dock workers are awaken performing necessary maintenance and repairs in preparation for the next voyage. Increases Military by six (6). Decreases Wealth and Influence by six (6). Housing for one (1) regiment. Berth for two (2) cruisers and one (1) destroyer. Basing for one (1) wing. Requires six (6) progress.

--[ ] [Stewardship] Construct Post. Utilize some empty space in a city to build an independent facility. Cost varies. Each building post may only be built once per city.
---[ ] Requires Target City
----[ ] Requires Building Choice

----[ ] Sunrise Bank. Accounts now guaranteed under government-subsidized insurance! Open an account today, withdraw your money a galaxy away! Increases Wealth by two (2). Decreases Resources by two (2). Requires four (4) progress.

----[ ] Camp Barracks. It is one thing to be willing to kill for a cause, but it is here where the willingness to die for a cause is born and tempered. Today's sacrifices are the heroes of tomorrow. Increases Military by two (2). Decreases Wealth and Influence by two (2). Berth for one (1) regiment. Requires three (3) progress.

----[ ] Commercial Spaceport. Under the United Empire common law, no trader that does not posses hostile, hazardous, or forbidden material is to be turned away. They are to be allowed to ply their wares as they see fit, though local oversight is certainly permitted. Increases Military by two (2). Decreases Wealth and Influence by two (2). Berth for two (2) destroyers or one (1) cruiser. Requires four (4) progress.

--[ ] [Intrigue] Infiltrate Cells. Plant the seeds now for future spycraft opportunities by establishing local support and cover opportunities to slip agents hidden among the populace. Create a spy network in another power. Requires four (4) progress. Further sabotage options require this option first.
---[ ] Requires Target Faction

--[ ] [Intrigue] Cause Unrest.
Instruct your cells to purposefully cause chaos in another power, drawing attention away from whatever other covert operations you have orchestrated at the same time. Reduces the chance of discovery on the turn it completes. Requires four (4) progress.
---[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

--[ ] [Intrigue] Send Spies.
Have sharp-eyed spies pass through a rival power, using existing cells to help provide a cover for the experts to work and deduce what the enemy is doing now. Discover what primary action another power is focusing on. Requires one (1) progress. Has a low chance for discovery.
---[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

--[ ] [Intrigue] Military Espionage.
Direct agents to circumvent security systems and access classified military information to pass onto you, a highly risky but priceless operation. Reveals a power's military composition and current numbers. Requires six (6) progress. Has a moderate chance for discovery.
---[ ] Requires Target Faction (Must have Infiltrate Cells)

--[ ] [Learning] Outfit Troops. Consider what the gear your soldiers carry into battle, and create a new outfit for the boots on the ground to equip themselves with. Cost varies.
---[ ] Requires Troop Unit

---[ ] Infantry. The very basic, but essential, foot soldiers that both take and occupy ground when ordered so. Even with mechanized transports, they move fairly slowly around on the battlefield but when it comes to holding the line, their numbers help absorb dire hits. Requires four (4) progress.
---[ ] Artillery. When more finesse is needed on the battlefield, it is the role of land artillery units to provide. They can bring some of the biggest guns of an army's arsenal to bear to flatten terrain and eradicate any remaining resistance from dug-in units. However, this comes at the price of being incredibly fragile and vulnerable themselves. Requires five (5) progress.
---[ ] Mechanized. Quick and fast fighting vehicles tear across the battlefield at lightning speeds, launching surprise attacks wherever gaps present themselves. While their weapons bark away at the enemy, the doors come slamming open to unload the infantry squads within to aid in the assault or begin already digging in. Speed is key for all in the unit. Requires five (5) progress.

--[ ] [Learning] Design Ship. Break out pencils and call up interested naval contractors to kickstart the race to create, prototype, and sell an entirely new spaceship design for your forces. Cost varies.
---[ ] Requires Ship Type

---[ ] Destroyer. The smallest of notable navy vessels, but vital for domination of local space along and necessary for group troop transports. Requires four (4) progress.
---[ ] Cruiser. Large voidships that traverse the stars and make up the bulk of any fleet that crosses systems. Requires six (6) progress.

--[ ] [Learning] Design Aircraft. Defense contractors all but salivate at the call to design a new generation of fighter craft, the chance to leave their brand across the galaxy be it on planets or in space. Requires six (6) progress.

Kat smiled widely and toothily, looking almost feral with how she addressed the assembled Prisms. "Right fuckers, here it is! Our first big job!" She hollered to them and they cheered back, the loud noise nearly blowing out the microphone of any listening bugs. "We've got the greenlight to start designing a cruiser! Hell fucking yes!"

There was another round of celebrations before one of them paused to note the specific wording used by their leader. "Design? Not build?" They pointed out and this invoked more than a few curious looks. "Wouldn't it be best if we actually made it as well? Especially with, well…" Their voice trailed off with an uneasy note that was then picked up another.

"The ongoing conflict within House Iris could be resolved quicker with such aid, were it to occur in time." A long pause, then they finally voiced something that had been bothered them and many others for a while. "Yet doing so, to put such greater weapons of destruction in hands that may be turned against own people, it...unsettles me so. Especially when we finally talk about a scale beyond what could be considered reasonable within a single star system."

"But it is reasonable and necessary," A third threw back, spinning around to face them with a fierce look. "Not only that, it is our duty! Our oaths as Prisms are to make and consecrate sacred tools that which we entrust to the Brilliance Knights to fulfill their blessed undertakings. To shirk away from providing what is needed, that is sacrilege!"

"But the very same teachings which grant us holy knowledge also provide us with cautionary tale aplenty, about the disaster that which nearly ended ourselves because of pure recklessness," They growled back and took an aggressive step. "So it is indeed not just wisdom to take heed, but a duty to refuse to provide that which would cause unnecessary escalation. We Prisms should forge only what is needed, not what is asked."

"I wasn't aware that such traitorous thoughts could plague our order!"

"I wasn't aware that we had such disgusting warmongers in our ranks either!"

Kat could feel her eye twitch when once again, the assembled 'learned artisans' nearly came to blows with each other over this topic. Though perhaps she should have expected it, given that this is a very old theological debate among Prisms, the eternal skepticism of need versus want. While the Prisms would never dare declare themselves as anything but a unified collective from which blessed solarium came forth, many rightfully doubted it so. In truth, their organization was firmly divided between that fine line between tools for keeping the peace, and tools for waging a war.

The Hyacinth Prism supposed that this argument was a rather open secret to those who know the Prisms well, that these prideful makers sometimes couldn't see eye to eye. Yet it could be pointed out that such disagreements were hardly anything novel or shocking, given that the Brilliance Knights could have their own conflicts as well. And was House Iris not in the throes of such a standoff now?

There were divisions everywhere, and of all types. Kat mulled on this for a moment before deciding enough was enough and lifted her hammer. It slammed down on the ever-abused worktable with a loud crack and she raised her voice in tandem. "SHUT UP AND PIPE DOWN! YOU'RE PISSING ME OFF!"

All at once, the arguments were silenced and Kat growled, definitely not happy despite being in her comfort space. "Enough with the bellyaching and whining, save that when we don't have work. Which we do and it comes straight from the top as well. Meaning that the decision's wholly out of our hands now that we've been ordered by the voice of House Iris herself." That was enough to immediately quench any further embers, even for the most passionate of doubters.

When the command to make something came from the bloodline of the one who discovered solarium, no Prism in their right mind would refuse.

A few hung their heads in defeat and their leader scoffed, lifting to rest her hammer against a shoulder. "If you wanna compete, then think of whatever unlucky few are over on the other side. Think about what they're doing and make something better. Hell, go even further beyond that, go and build something to kick in the teeth of whatever other power wants to face House Iris!"

That definitely was the little kick needed to reignite the spark and soon, the Prisms were animatedly discussing their newest project. Kat regained her grin and reflected that building their first cruiser definitely fit this discussion, with how the type was what marked the start of expansion. Now it was up to these experts to make the ship perfect for the role.

- Improved offense or improved defense, that is the question indeed. But do note that these models both have more Hull and Hangers than destroyers, so either way, definite improvements. Also more Escorts. This symbolizes the 'basic' line of naval warfare.
- EDIT: Forgot to mention this at the time, but you can double stack modules on ships unlike aircraft/troops. So if you want to go double Ballistics or double AA, so long as it fits within the available modules, it should be valid.

It pushed the gathered Prisms to the brink, the debate strongly raging between two particular designs. Cruisers were the backbone of any fleet and their importance was only emphasized with these arguments between an offensive ship destroyer competing against a defensive rounded bulwark. Points were made, insults were hurled, and fists risen in these heated sessions. Only their leader's silent glare and promise while hefting a hammer kept the discussions between the enlightened learned ones from escalating into a brawl.

So finally, it came down a matter of frantic paperwork, a challenge on who could scribble and put together their rough blueprints first. It was then that the Corona-class heavy cruiser took the slightest of leads, having far less complicated weapon systems to integrated in that moment. The team drawing its competitor the Sugarbag-class light cruiser grumbled but graciously accepted their defeat, for now. Few doubted that the design would immediately be presented for renewed consideration should a call for another cruiser design come out.

There were a few who did suggest that perhaps it would be fairer to proceed with both designs as prototypes now before choosing one, such as what had occurred recently with that of the aerospace development. But then the Hyacinth Prism growled and laid into them about the vast difference in costs between putting together a large voidship in comparison to a small personal craft, let alone the already steep tag of prototype installation, testing, and reworking. Kat still had a sour expression on her face when she was done yelling at them, grumpily dismissing them all with a wave.

"Enough blabber. Time to get to work!" She ordered and so, the Prisms began development of the Corona-class.

(Recruit Regiment (2nd Andernian Guard): 91 +14 (Dorothea) +0 (Wealth) = 105)

Progress: 8/7. Completed!

2nd Andernian Guard has been recruited in Gawain.

Dorothea stood in front of the assembled ranks, her gaze sweeping over them. Even though they all were now fully trained soldiers, many present still couldn't suppress the chill running down their spine at her stern eyes. Some even could feel parts of their body ache from where they had brutally experienced the Lycoris Knight's training firsthand, a mental scar and reminder that for all their glories and triumphs, there always was going to be those far above.

Yet it was also her that pushed them to not give up or waver in the face of such opposition. Even if the odds were low, overcoming such challenges was what differentiated a good fighter from a great warrior. Her lessons were indeed humbling but also inspirational in that regard, igniting a quiet respect for the Brilliance Knight as she looked over them all. Gazes were locked onto her, awaiting parting words with bated breath.

For her part, Dorothea was taking it all in with a projection of earned confidence on the outside, but slight concern on the inside. But it wasn't nervousness at needing to speak to so many; it was a slight fear at failure, especially when she was entrusted the task by none other than the Solar Princess! Even though she had frantically tried to insist that the blood of House Iris was the only one truly worthy to address the troops so, her Lady had declared otherwise. Oh, she could still hear the words ringing about in her ears, that unwavering trust in her own retainers!

Wait. That was it.

Dorothea took in a breath, then spoke, adapting those orders into words of wisdom to leave to the soldiers. "There will be times when those above cannot handle everything at once, when more serious issues require their undivided attention." She looked over the troops leaning into every single word coming from her mouth. "Then it is only natural that delegation must occur to divide responsibility and duty. However, while it is easy to simply give anybody a task, it is something else to know just who to entrust an assignment to.

"Today, I have the honor of saying that if I ever needed comrades to fight alongside, loyal and proud troops of House Iris to depend on, then I know just who to undertake such duties!" She didn't even need to say anything before the audience snapped to attention, their boots loudly slamming against the ground in synchronized step. "Proud soldiers of the 2nd Andernian Guard, hold your head up high. Today, you are now those whom can be entrusted with the honor of House Iris! To the stars!"

"To the stars!" The uniformed infantry chorused and Dorothea smiled, pleased. She could only hope such words would do justice to her Lady.

You glanced up from the report and despite your level look, Kat still wilted and shrunk in on herself. "U-um! I...we...the Prisms need just a little bit extra!" She squeaked and lowered her head. "P-please! Just some more f-funding! Please!"

A moment passed, then you gave a reassuring smile. "Of course. Give me a moment, and it will be done." Literally. I was already in the process of expanding the budget when I noticed your accounts were about to run dry. Guess developing a cruiser really is that expensive.

Any further thoughts were then knocked out of your head when Kat practically tackled into you in a sobbing hug. "T-thank you!" She wailed and squeezed tightly.

You squawked and barely managed to get your reinforcement circuits active in time to avoid your ribs from being cracked. She always did tend to forget about her own strength when outside her workshop.

The transmitted communique laid on her desk, the notice of a diplomatic delegation wishing to land on a hostile planet under the flag of negotiations. It was a common and regular tradition in civilized space even in the Free States, where the white flag to talk and resolve issues without resorting to a fight was still respected. Surprisingly, it could work sometimes in changing minds with both parties walking away satisfied, having finally resolved a conflict of interests with all profiting.

Now the question was if there was a way to make even more, the appointed governor of Andernia considered. She pursed her lips and looked up to meet the look of the most trusted advisor at the moment, the talented ambitious man who had provided incredible insight all this while. From the remarkable commentary on her sister's destroyers to the lack of public response to the reactivated 92nd Intercessors, he was the only one she actually could somewhat lean on these days. Even though sometimes, it felt like it was nothing useful, his words, they still...reassured her. Comforted her.

Convinced her that this truly was the best way forward with what she knew to be the reality of the situation.

She needed that advice more than ever now and tapped the notice. "What do you think?" She quietly asked with a quiet sigh. "Should I refuse? Or should I hear my troublesome sister out?"

He took his time to consider an answer. "Negotiations can only progress when both sides have something that the other wants. For you, the benefits to convincing your sibling to finally stand down and kneel is clear. But then," He carefully worded, "we must question what she has to gain now, especially with her actions in context."

"You have a point," She muttered and leaned her temple against her fingers in thought. "She...there has to be a reason why she's doing this. She always does, the one who is always on the outside. Why she's actually trying to talk now, of all times, instead of finally raising a flag of rebellion like she has been building up to."

"It is almost frustrating that she has not, especially when it would finally give you legitimacy to mobilize emergency forces against her."

"Agreed." There was a long silence before finally, the daughter of House Iris decided she couldn't handle the growing tension and worries right now. It was simply too much for one human surrounded by a dwindling group of supporters who could not be trusted about the truth. She had to relieve her stress somehow.

She rose from her chair and walked to the front of her desk, a hand reaching out to casually slide the notice to the side. Her confident seemed to swiftly realized what she wanted and gingerly approached, pausing in perhaps doubt or hesitation right before coming right up. When slim fingers reached out to tug at his jacket to pull him in closer, he realized there definitely was no such confusion or misunderstanding.

The blood of House Iris was always clear and resolute in what they wanted, no matter how their blood was mixed.

- Hm, just realized I never actually listed what building aircraft would actually cost in terms of resources/time. I'm actually thinking of something like six (6) build time but four (4) cost. That makes sense and doesn't limit you to a single design cost-wise, but also shows a benefit of not having too many.
- Made a mistake and forgot the House Divided is only two actions. So enjoy the bonus scene, we'll pop off shortly.

A House Divided...
"What's going on? Are you okay?" The hidden earpiece tucked beneath her hair softly buzzed. "Your position is showing that you've separated from your guards."

"You can thank your sister's paranoia for that," Radana whispered, her lips barely moving. "She demanded that we meet privately without any listening in. It was a condition to proceeding forward with the talks."

"I don't like that. You really shouldn't have agreed to that," Her best friend darkly muttered. "If anything happens-"

"Then I'll trust in your contingencies," She gently reassured and that seemed to calm the Solar Princess back on Andernia IV, at least for now. Radana knew that she was absolutely walking into a lion's den right now yet maintained a calm and neutral facade, giving away nothing about her inner thoughts about the possibly dangerous situation. She did admittedly have some concerns as well, but the entire concept of talks revolved around trust and impressions. So she had to act appropriately, one befitting of a noble diplomat making a first impression.

Though it definitely wasn't her first encounter with the one she was soon faced with. She was directed to step into an office by the escort, then the doors closed and sealed behind Radana to ensure privacy. Now it was only her and the appointed governor of Andernia alone together in the room and she properly curtsied with a slight lift of her dress. "It has been a while, and I hope you are in good health."

"It has been. I believe the last time we've talked, it was when my little sister decided you were suddenly under her protection." The daughter of House Iris sniffed and waved the visiting diplomat to a table. "A pity. I feel that your family's future is wasted serving that outsider."

Radana's eyes narrowed ever so slightly at the old insult, but she refrained from commenting on it so. "My Lady has been nothing but most accommodating as a master, so I'm afraid I have no intent on reconsidering your generous offer from back then." A small, but sharp smile. "I will stick by her to ensure she navigates the courts of your family most fittingly of your character."

There was a low whistle from the hidden earpiece. "I felt that over here, nice barb."

That was a victory in Radana's books and she wanted to bask in it for a moment, but there was something that made her pause: the slightest hint of genuine bitter emotion flashing across her opposition's face. "I see. Then I will not try to move your mind any further." A long pause, then her posture shifted to an aggressive focused one. "But I will try to convince you to relay to my sister that she is...erring in her ways and must heed my calls to stop. She is acting without my consent and disrupting the order of things in her petty pursuits."

"Oh, tell her to piss off for me!"

"I am sorry to hear that you feel that way," Radana more diplomatically phrased with a measured incline of the head. "Yet rest assured that all she does is in pursuit of solidifying and supporting your rule. In fact, if we may be so frank as to drop all pretense, please allow me to lay out what she is playing at."

The governor's eyes narrowed and her hand reached up to touch at her necklace. "What then, pray tell?" She asked sarcastically but Radana was only listening with one ear, the other focused instead on whatever came next from her earpiece.

There was a long sigh, then an eventual order. "Fine. Reveal it all."

"Your sister wishes to elevate and solidify your position here, with full backing and support from her."

"I don't believe her-"

"This includes the upcoming challenge and contest for the next head of House Iris," Radana firmly added. That finally invoked an open reaction from the coin-spinning princess, a long and disbelieving stare. "We are all aware that with the tragic passing of His Late Majesty, there will likely be a squabble for leadership and you do have a claim."

"Though some might blame her for the entire incident," A hurried reminder that Radana dutifully repeated. "Or me. Er...I don't want to take the blame for that, please let her know."

She spoke numbly, mind clearly still considering the proposal. "It was certainly not me either. I would actually strongly think it was the First Princess," The governor mumbled, then her fingers slowly curled up into a fist. "But then what's my guarantee my sister didn't do it either?"

"You could lay blame wherever you like, including with your missing brother as well," Radana pointed out with a sly smile. "A trial in absentia would be rather convenient, don't you think? Especially when he can hardly defend himself against such accusations now."

"I still want a guarantee though," She growled and leaned forwards. "Because my sister's also got good reason. She's the outsider, the one who His Highness brought in and claimed every bit his as we were, she has good cause to go after us as well! Where is my actual tangible proof that this isn't a trick to kill me as well?"

Radana hesitated slightly, knowing that there was a perfect collateral to offer now. Her friend knew so as well, and thought it over one last time. Then permission was granted. "Reveal our ace."

The slightest of nods, then the Camellia Knight withdrew a letter from her clothing. "If I may." She held it out to be snatched away. There was a loud rip, followed by an equally loud gasp at the picture of the revealed item. "Were you to accept and honor the support offered by Violet d'Iris, she offers you this: the sacred relic that would mark you as the legitimate one chosen by the stars of wisdom and knowledge. The Solarium Codex would be yours to press a claim as the true heir of House Iris. All you would have to do is finally pause, and listen to what your sister has to say."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It all makes sense now.

Those words bounced around her head, hand shaking and eyes quivering in realization of just how deep in the web she was caught in.

The disaster.

A way to remove the Solar King from the equation, and her brother as well.

The unrest.

A way to get an edge over whatever she could muster, especially since there was no support coming.

The approach.

A rotten carrot lathered with honey to mislead and puppet her using the true disaster.

The silence.

A reminder that she...they...all of them.

Alone. So painfully alone forever.

Slaves to the webmaster who orchestrated all of this, the sole sibling unlike them.

A single thought, then circuits flared to life around her fist.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You wanted to almost cry at just how close to ultimate success you were. Soon, you were going to be free of these responsibilities and duties you never asked for. You were finally going to be able to retreat into darkened rooms and laugh maniacally all day without being dragged out for some stupid event or worst, a public appearance. No longer were you going to be the one being shoved into the spotlight, it was going to be you pulling others into the shadows-!

"AH!"

Your blood froze at the sound of a loud crash, and the pained cry that you never wanted to hear again. "Radana? Radana?!" You frantically shouted at the interface. "What's going on-?!"

"So. This is how she was receiving orders from you." Your eyes widened at your sister and you realized she had found the earpiece. Which meant...which meant….! "Sister. It has been a while."

"What have you done?" You whispered, a flame flickering to life within you and growing larger with every passing moment. "You- if you have harmed her-!"

"She has circuits, she will walk it off. But forget about her for now." Even though you were on different planets, you could feel her boring a hole into you with a heated glare. "Let's talk about us, and how I know what you're doing. How disgusting."

"What I'm doing?!" You snarled back and shoved your face closer to the interface. "What madness has overtaken you! Attacking a messenger under the flag of truce?! You're smearing not just your reputation, but that of House Iris as well-!"

"You're still acting all so concerned about that?!" She roared back and spat a curse. "No, enough. I see through your lies, your act, your great deception. I'm not going to let you enslave the Helmsmen like this, you damn outsider. We won't be pawns in your damn schemes no longer!"

Were you capable of properly processing all this information, you were fairly sure you would have picked up on so many inconsistencies with whatever narrative your older sibling had come up with. A series of gross misunderstandings between family that has collected and cascaded into an unstoppable collision between the two of you, your paths crossing to bar the way for one another. Something that perhaps could have been avoided yet deep down, was ultimately inevitable.

Where those on the stars above would follow their ancestors of the earth below and draw blades on one another.

"Sister," Your voice came out frostily and unwavering. "Let Radana go."

"As soon as you hand over the Solarium Codex and leave, never to return." She spat and gave one last final command. "Return from where you came and leave us to pick up what is left. Traitorous outsider." There was a burst of static and then the interface helpfully informed you that the connection was lost. More than likely, your sister had crushed the earpiece in her hands, thinking that she had eliminated the last way for you to contact your subordinate.

Perfect. Well, sort of given how the situation had escalated. At least your sister had swallowed the obvious bait in thinking the earpiece was the grand secret. Swiftly, you had the interface reconfigure to connect to another device and tensely waited. Minutes later, you almost collapsed in relief when a plain text message streamed through.

Ow. Am fine. Ow. Maybe. Being taken somewhere. Will await plan. Ow.

She was okay if she could manage to send a text from her hidden gauntlet armor, but you didn't know how long that would last if your sister ordered a second thorough search of your best friend. It meant that time was of the essence now, and you squared your jaw. "Maybe I don't get it. Maybe I don't understand what's all happening," You told yourself while rising from your office chair. "But it doesn't matter, not anymore. I'm not interested in whatever reasoning my sister has, until she's in cuffs before me.

"I suppose it's time for a little treason." Your hand reached out and hit the confirmation button on a certain posting being displayed by the desk's digital interface. Within moments, a contract was going to be offered, a very specific one for a very specific group you had prepared for this moment.

The emergency contingency for if the situation had escalated like this.

As you reverently donned on your blessed armor, there was a happy little ding when the contract was accepted. You gave it only a single read in passing and then left your office, leaving the words to float in the air for a while longer until the computer fell asleep to conserve energy.

Mercenary contract accepted by: The Knightly Order of the Last Bloom.

- Thanks to Violet's preparations for the worst here, she has already called up and rallied all her available forces to Andernia IV without needing the usual time to muster a battlegroup up first. I should get rules for that up sometime soon, and strategic campaign movement, there's normally an entire phase dedicated to this but we're skipping ahead because most of it is just single choice work at the moment.

Marching Song of the 1st Andernian Guard
It's a long, long way,
To Andernia three.
Under vessel and boots,
'Cross starry seas.

The governor's got the marquis
Under lock and key,
But we'll break her out,
Yes soon you'll see.

For the Princess!
Foooor the house!
There'll be nowhere to hide,
When the guards come about!

Royals!
(Hurrah!)

Put the tyrant in chains,
and set the people free!

It's a long long way,
To Andernia three,
But we'll set her free!
Yes soon you'll see!

-The unofficial theme of the 1st Andernian Guards, Royals Battalion. It first arose, seemingly spontaneously, at the outbreak of the civil conflict in the Andernia system. Traditionally sung without accompaniment, besides the stamping of boots.

The tune has a very odd rhythm but soon proved to be quite popular amongst the armed forces of House Iris as they prepared to remove the appointed governor of the system, the "tyrant" mentioned in the song. Many other branches soon modified the tune to fit. The most common modification was changing "Royals" to the name of the singer's own battalion or vessel.

The armed forces of Violet d'Iris seemed to take particular offense to the betrayal and unlawful capture of "the marquis", the Camellia Knight Radana, by the governor. Sources from the time suggest that she was a popular figure due to her public involvement with several very successful weapons development programs as well as her polite and compassionate disposition.

-Excerpt from "The flower of song: a history of House Iris through music" by Marianne Tiber.

(The first and last verse are kinda to the tune of "It's a long, long way to Ba Sing Se" from Avatar the last Airbender).

Cycles and Battlegroups
Battlegroups are the most commonly recognized form of army organization in civilized space and encompass all three branches of land, air, and space. They are always led by a character and units will typically be assigned to one Battlegroup at a time. This is a necessary method of ensuring general cohesion and coordination between all branches within a solar system, but does have its disadvantages such as having an eventual limit as to how many a single Battlegroup can lead at one time.

Subcycles
There are four Subscycles per Cycle. Each Subcycle is a round of planetary campaign movement or battle round. The actions of a Cycle are executed before the beginning of the first Subcycle. When four Subcycles have passed, a new Cycle begins.

Force Limits and Resource Consumption
This is where characters leading said Battlegroup can come in. They can raise the base value of a Force Limit via their Martial stat, with additional situational increases. A very clear and apparent example of these is being the personal army of a people's leader, such as the head of a House.

Each unit has its own combat value which determines how much Force Limit they take up. This also is the value of how many Resources the unit will consume per Cycle while deployed (not Subcycle). This is applied at the start of a Cycle, specifically before the first Subcycle.

The following lists the usual costs of each type. These can change depending on circumstances or developments.

Regular Regiments- 4 CP
Elite Regiments- 6 CP

Regular Squadrons- 4 CP
Elite Squadrons- 6 CP

Destroyers- 2 CP
Cruisers- 4 CP
Warships- 6 CP
Elite Ships- Varies.

Galactic and System Travel
The forces of a Battlegroup will always stick together when traveling on the galactic map, but are free to spread around and deploy across planets in a single system. But while transit, they will always gather and rally at a chosen planet to link their FTL systems for simultaneous jumps before departing. Afterwards, they will arrive at their destination which is a target planet of the specified system, and then disperse accordingly.

Travel on the galactic scale is measured in Cycles while travel within a system is in Subcycles. Units will almost always take a single Subcycle to move between planets. Moving units between a planet's orbit to the ground and then about will also each take a Subcycle. This includes planetary invasions, but there are Strategems to modify these rules.

Contested Movement and Retreats
As movement all happens at the same time, it is possible for opposing units to suddenly try to occupy the area or space without realizing it. In such events, there is a chance for battle if neither side wishes to back down. In these cases, both sides are considered to be on the attacking side.

Units can choose to make an ordered retreat though instead of escalating the situations, but only if there is an empty or safe location for them to do so. If there are multiple, it is randomly chosen. This also includes ground units/aircraft retreating to orbit in transport craft, but only if there are no enemy ships around the planet.

In the event that there is no safe retreat, they will then need to make either a resolve to surrender or die fighting.
