The Perfectly Normal High School: A Slice of Life Quest! (Defunct)

Do we need to change the timeline to save Nanami? If we don't, I don't see how Nanami could not be worth saving. She's still a person, after all.
[snark]Besides, she has Silas's cell phone.[/snark]
Admittedly, there has been nothing to indicate that a change in a timeline is necessary. HOWEVER, we have never had contact with both Big sis and Nanami at the same time. Well Silas hasn't known about it anyways. Considering that Nanami displays antimeme like properties at all times EXCEPT that one time where Big sis disappeared, we either need to force a declassification on Nanami or be the Nanami exsists meme. In the "Nanami is waiting at the train" timeline, Silas appears to be that meme. Neither seem very easy honestly but I guess there is an option.

...we either need to force a declassification on Nanami or be the Nanami exsists meme. In the "Nanami is waiting at the train" timeline, Silas appears to be that meme.
...I've been rereading this sentence and a half for a few minutes, and I still can't make sense of it. As best I can figure..."We need to either make Nanami not be anomalous, or introduce an anti-anti-meme to counteract her anomaly"? And Silas could be that meme?

That was the idea yes.

I see.

Still not sure why timeline changes and/or losing Big Sister would need to get involved. I mean, yes, she's obviously a remnant from an alternate timeline from a different character-building decision, but from my (limited) understanding of timelines, if they can interact they are non-exclusive. If we can have a world which kind of has Nanami, which influences things which couldn't have existed in her source timeline (e.g, the AI on Silas's phone), we should be able to have a world which completely has Nanami.
Of course, it might act differently in this world, but there's no reason to assume it would without evidence. We don't have that evidence. Maybe Nanami is a ghost from a lost timeline, and getting anything from that timeline to truly exist would require losing everything unique to this timeline (which could make a decent conclusion for Silas's character arc, depending on how his relationship with Big Sis goes); however, she could also be "trapped" almost but not quite in our timeline, and just require the right 4th-dimensional push/pull to get her here fully.
We have no data that suggests we would lose anything by saving Nanami, and so I see no reason to assume we would. When that situation changes—when we understand what saving Nanami could cost—then we can have a meaningful discussion about if it's worth it.

...Wait, should we be having this conversation in transparent text?

Well, she is currently planning to experiment with her powers.

Let's see if Silas' supernatural anime sense can smell a RikuRiku cosplay from beyond reality!

Yumika has good friends.
I love how Silas and Hana are talking in practically complete sentences, while Yumika is just like ALL OF TE TXTSPK!!!!! :p

Also, why is she 89301?

I dunno what you're talking about that definitely says Yumika and isn't related to her designation at all because, like normal humans, she does not have one. Because she is a normal human being.

Is Yumika sharing her lunches with taking her lunches from Silas in your verse? That's the only reason I can come up with for this exchange.
I do not believe for a second she is actually worried about the quality of food Silas eats. Nobody died from taco rice overdose, and he isn't getting fat, so the only problem would be the monotony of a diet and that is not her problem... unless it is.

Ok, what are you two talking about?
I mean, it's supposed to be somewhat ambiguous, but srsly seriously?
(I would assume this is from a continuity different from the one where he asked her out?)

First off, I am laughing hard because of Yumika's opinion on Silas... and the fact that Shinohara doesn't even try to deny it for decency's sake.
Second, I am not sure if I shouldn't be mildly concerned about Yumika's relationship ethics. Or ethics in general. Should we introduce Big Sis to her? Would she resist the temptation of wrapping Silas around her finger and having him override Big Sister's safety on her behalf because he'd be too sleepy to care?
Dream eater: please do not text me at 3 am
But Hana, what are you doing awake at night at 3 AM? o_O

...do they not have 'Do Not Disturb' switch on their phones in the glorious future?

She could just be like me and keep her phone active because people calling/texting during sleepy hours is rare enough that you would want to know it's occurred.

Theres always a first!
Oh dear... has big sister been monitoring our vitals? Was this like one long setup? We're too young and socially akward to die from a freak taco rice related illness! *Breathes heavily* **Heavy breathing increases as realization that the rice tacos are to blame for initial heavy breathing kicks in**

I mean the odds of dying from a taco rice overdose would have to be as likely as having your best friends be an Emotion Eater, an anti-meme and a bunch of personalities fused into one person
And like what are the…
Odds of…
That…
Hmmmmm

RIP SILAS,
He died as he lived: For our (and Yumika's) amusement.

We're not "Best Friends" until Yumika tells us her Mystery, in my opinion. Although I definitely want to be Best Friends with her and think she's a swell gal.

Hopefully, Hana being honest with others and speaking openly about it will convince Yumika to come clean herself, so we can help, exploit, or just enjoy her Mystery, whatever is appropriate.

Yumika looked around. "... I wonder if Renji-kun and Riku-nee are home yet… Hey, Sai-kun, when does your train leave?"
Huh. I wonder if she told them about the Foundation. If so, we might win some brownie points for being on the ball about response.

I'm still hoping we remember to pull Shinohara aside and ask her if it's okay to speak openly about her Mystery around Yumika (and maybe Renji and Rakuyama too). It's her secret after all. But if Rakuyama and Renji have already been told about the Foundation, and feel threatened (as Yumika does, and Silas does), they might be more forthcoming and Shinohara might be able to slip into the background.

Or, everybody knows everybody's Mystery and we look a bit silly with all the skulduggery, but I figure it's best to err on the side of caution when dealing with other people's stuff.

Nah, that part is just Kaichou being worried about her friends.

Yumika is surprisingly tight-lipped for someone who loves talking. I guess that's the fabled self-control that comes from her being an actress? Or is it the other way around? Anyway, we've never heard her spill the secrets of others... or betray her own, for that matter.

I am positively certain that she knows about Hana. I am also pretty sure that the rest of the Drama are oblivious and at most think Hana is that weird kid with a Horror movie obsession.
"Err, actually, no, it wasn't nothing. D-Do you remember that time you were outside the club room and… you were feeding on our happiness back then, weren't you?" Silas suddenly realized.

Shinohara tensed up. "Could you be a little more subtle, please?!"

Silas gulped. "S-Sorry…" He looked around to make sure that they hadn't been listened upon. Thankfully, everyone else seemed busy doing their own thing. So they were safe.
She was worried about being overheard, but there is no one but fellow Drama members in there. So that's still a secret to them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Yumika knows something about others too. She is pretty perceptive, and both her personality and her position as a President ensure that she takes the problems of her clubmates rather seriously.

True. I hadn't noticed that.

In that case, if Yumika decides to bring in Rakuyama and Reizei we definitely need to pull Hana aside and talk to her before we spill any beans. It's her secret after all, and for all we think it's cute Hana thinks it's some horrible thing that needs to be hidden (not unwise, tbf, with the Foundation about). We need to respect her privacy as a person, or we'll be just as bad as the Foundation Goons we're trying to fight.

Wait did we declare war on the student council? I don't think we have any claims to press... though I suppose we could invite one of their juniors or sophomores to join our court and then press their weak claims when the president graduates and the student council is left in a period of regency...

On a side note, despite my disagreeing with the men in black memory erasing thing, I'm not really getting the bad guy vibes from the foundation. Frankly it seems like they're at least trying to help, and if the anti-memetics are legitimately as bad as was publicized in apollyon then it kinda makes sense that they are taking severe measures to prevent the total... disappearance? of possibly hundreds of people.
