Corax had a fun time, it seemed. I wonder if he changed his mind in regard of Psykers now that many things challenged his view since, you know, he was the Primach who outrightly refused to cooperate with Magnus and his sons for being a bunch of witches in the Canon.

I bet it was not Mork but Isha's whispering the cure in general direction and Alpha Legion's supplying their patsy.

Chronicles of Baldur: Elysium Dying
Oh, Baldur, Baldur, Baldur……. It was not good idea to show off when your daddy was worried about your social position among your brothers. See, you just disappointed him by slipping in to the habit as a diplomat. You were so busy make him proud of you that your thinking routine took the easy way and tried to manipulate your lord-father.

A Watcher In The Dark
Resentment toward his fathers run deep in Sigma as expected. Reading this, I'm really relieved that Kesar came to be an honest and good family man that could steered him away from the dark path. Because I fear, given Sigma's disposition, Tzeentch cursed him to take him as a replacement of the Changeling.

"You have no idea, I've had to adjust so many plans recently."
And I had the hilarious flashback to the White Scars trampling over the Daemon World so well that it stymied Perturabo's plan.

Haha, you're exactly right there. I figured that Isha's whispering of cures, which she's noted to do for Nurgle's plagues when she can, would be a bit more stronger within the Garden of Nurgle than in the Materium, and she would have a rather in depth knowledge of Ork biology and the medical stuff they have due to, well, vast experience. And that the Alpha Legion could leave caches of weapons for the Orks to find and use, given the perfect opportunity they can be for them.

Asked Daemon Hunter if both those things would happen in the Discord server, and after he answered yes I decided to write 'bout them.

Plan: worst case scenario
[X] Perturabo
-[X] Make preparations in case he dies

[X] Khan
-[X] Have the Storm Seers try and divine possible threats within the Maelstrom
-[X] Make preparations in case he dies
-[X] Share some of the custom modifications made to the Astartes fleet to increase overall ship speed

[X] Guilliman
-[X] Try and find a way to get supplies through a warpstorm

[X] Kesar
-[X] Make preparations in case he dies
-[X] Ensure that Perturabo and Guilliman get along while they coordinate with each other
-[X] Train the naval crews on how to resist daemonic boarding attempts
-[X] Train the Astartes in anti-daemonic tactics

Yeah the entire point of this omake is both made errors, Baldur the biggest. For Baldur he went in think Kesar wasn't going to really see the use and the loss him not being present would create. So he chose to force it upon him. For Kesar, you saw it - he allowed the detachment of Baldur to get to him and acted exactly as Baldur did figure in that regard. He didn't really speak and chose to observe - partly because he figured Baldur would prefer that distance but also becaus Kesar himself is so busy contemplating different actions regarding Baldur and this Maelstorm Ritual. Both got absorbed in their thoughts and it did lead to this.

- [X] Coordinate with Kesar, Perturabo and Khan for a means to get supplies through warp storms and other navigable obstacles as well as adapting Khan's custom modifications for Warp and Materium travel, and coordinating and strategizing how to most effectively trained naval crews in resisting naval boarding actions. Kesar is a renowned expert in warp-based research, Perturabo can make suggestions for hands-on solutions to any practical considerations the challenge presents and Khan has the most experienced experts with regards to interacting with the warp directly without risking corruption. Roboutte is a master of adapting and standardizing any an all results of this meeting to maximum effect for the Ritual and after.

Word of warning, but the way I'm reading this is that you're trying to effectively turn Kesar's action slot into one for the entire group. It works, but keep in mind it's going to be less effective from the side of Perturabo and Khan as they're going to be rather busy.

-[X] With Knowledge that Kesar intends to subordinate the Wardens to make coordination easier, the Lord of Iron knows he should gain some first-hand experience with the idiosyncrasies and behavior of the White Scars. He should work to mitigate and hopefully avoid any problems with coordinating the White Scars, without having direct command over them, to ensure operations run smoothly. Relying on Kesar for every interaction is folly if he's holding overall command, but because of his focus on micromanaging every aspect of the campaign, knowing how to predict and account for units he's relying on for rapid response, skirmishing and fast attack is critical.

This works, and is valid.

-[X] Try and convince Guilliman to allow Alpha Legionaries to support him. Specifically, Kesar heard that Guilliman is trying to go above and beyond what was requested of him and get supplies to Crusade elements cut off by warp storms. The Twins are good at navigating through the Warp, if he can coordinate with them, their pathfinders will be of immense use.

Also valid. Although keep in mind this will reveal their warpwalk ability to Guilliman.

That's fair, I figured this might at least help a *little* by offering the expertise of the others for the respective strengths/resources, with the respective tasks still being mainly focused on the specific primarch's actions

Even in death
Even in death

It was hard to think. The haze fogging his mind. The fire scorching his body. The daemons screaming in his ears.

He remembered 7 people at a gold gate.

He knew 5 entered. And 2 did not.

2 remembered their vows. And 5 did not

2 remembered their duty. And 5 did not

The flames licked hungrily at his flesh, claiming what would eventually be theirs. Eventually he would burn out and be spent, with nothing left to give.

But not yet. He had a duty

He remembered his brothers born for battle. And he would watch over them. And protect them with his soul

He thought of a saying he'd heard before, 'only in death does duty end'. Whoever said that was a fool. Because duty continues even after death. Duty is eternal

He knew the dangers of daemons. He dealt with them every moment of his fiery existence. Knew how they would try and force themselves into the minds of the unwilling, corrupting them.

And he knew how to stop them.

Because by using his own soul as fuel, he could help burn away the daemons. Deny them their prize and gain peace. He could aid even from beyond the grave

Because even in death, his watch is Eternal

Alright, I'm calling the vote here. Looks like Argenten's plan wins. As for the rolls, Perturabo gets along with the mortal hero units that he meets with over the year, and Yesugei successfully manages to divine two of the worlds within the Maelstrom although he can't see more. Moreover, Kesar and Guilliman manage to figure out a way to get very limited reports through a warpstorm, but it involves essentially dumping a lot of vox transmitters that are hardened against the warp. It's expensive, and needs to be set up ahead of time, but it allows you to understand what's going on within said worlds.

Perturabo-Skullface Social: 79 + 20 (Ruthless) = 99
Perturabo-IA Hero Social: 50 + 20 (Ruthless) + 10 (Lion's Recommendation) + 10 (Utterly Subserviant) = 90

Warpstorm Supply: 37 + 20 (Kesar) + 40 (Guilliman) + 5 (Perturabo) + 2 (Khan) = 104

Divining the Maelstrom: 93 + 105 (Yesugei) + 5 (Divination) + 20 (Storm Seers) = 223
The Horrors Within: 39 + 100 (Warpstorm) + 50 (???) = 189
