[x] Plan Warpfire
-[x] Magnus
-[x] Vulkan

As we all seem to agree, we really need to talk to Magnus. But if possible I'd like to talk to Vulkan about his mini-Crusade. I think the Omakes/letter handled all the backlash from us not meeting with him last year, but we should still probably sit down with him and see if, at the very least, we can streamline some of his plans. Perhaps change some things around to make them more beneficial to the Imperium at large.

Furk..... It's hard. Nurgle is currently strongest. It would be good to ask for Mortarion's expertise.

Grrrrr...... @Daemon Hunter, would Mortarion be available to meet next year?

Edit: Voting for now...
[x] Plan Urgent Farewells

Afraid not, Mortarion is one of the more distant Primarchs to you, and he was really only available this year because of a personal project he had that took him close to Terra. Moreover, next year will be the ritual, so Kesar is going to be in the midst of the Maelstrom.

There's no way of getting 3 social actions, is there? I'm regretting proposing a plan that doesn't involve interacting with our astartes. We barely seem to do that.

Afraid not, every now and then I give an extra social action, but that's rare overall. Most of the time, the Primarchs are simply too far from each other to have more than two meetings. That and writing three socials is time consuming.

[X] Plan M
-[X] Magnus
-[X] Mortarion

As much as I want to say that we need to look at Ori, seems like he's at least stable on what happened in the reef and what he was able to gain out of it even if the rolls were meh. We'll be facing Nurgle a *LOT* in the Maelstrom as he's the strongest and even if it's through biowarfare, toxins, and so on...Morty might be able to help with that. I will be very happy if Urgent farewells wins, but as this is basically my 35 planet train...gotta go for gains to make it worthwhile and minimize deaths.

Definitely, the setting would be so much better with consistent FTL comms. So many more chances for cooperations and coordination rather than having to play guessing games.
"Hey, Magnus, you know what would be a great project to spend your time working on? a way of improving FTL comms so that we don't have to rely on traveling to one another or interpreting dreams."
"Yes I believe I can do that. I think I have an idea."

....
'Shit. Magnus has an idea. I gave Magnus an idea. I should have thought this through better.'

"Now here me out, but what if we used daemons?"
"Bad Magnus! Bad!"

[X] Talk to them

-[X] Vulkan
Same option but different name with the Warfire Plan. You'd better change the name.:V

Edit:
I've changed my vote to Plan M. It would be better to minimize the death toll than to spend time and lose more of sons.

However, we should tell that fact to Oriacarius. It would greatly help him to know Kesar is taking the effort to lessen his brothers' casualty, considering all decisions he took in Mitu came from the very same reason.

"But...But they're friendly daemons. They said so themselves."
"Magnus, how do you know any of that is true?"
"What do you mean?"
"How do you know the anonymous posters thoughtforms daemons didn't just make it up?"
"You really think someone would do that? Just talk through the internet idea-space Great-Ocean-that-gets-surfed-on Warp and tell lies?"

December 29th Omake Rewards
Iron Salt of the Negaverse 4

Alright, omakes. First up we have a continuation of the Pert negaverse. The commentary on the hugs was great, as was the little stuff regarding a hug button. That is something I imagine the Vulkan negaverse presses all of the time. Also, the foreshadowing to the next negaverse was rather fun as well, as tying them together is something I've found to be a lot more fun than I initially expected. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] GM Reveals Perturabo's current projects (before Ritual Preparations)
[] -20% decay to one of Perturabo's projects

Iron Salt of the Negaverse 5

Next up is the Pert negaverse reacting to the Scafrir interlude. Got to say that that series of rolls still amazes me. The reaction here was rather fitting, and the gifs present were very nicely tied into the comments. Oh, I just noticed the flash fortification idea in this omake. Is this where the initial idea came from? Or was it already an idea at the time and it was included in it? Either way it's a very nice tie in. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] Ask the GM a question and they shall answer. (Subject to veto)
[] -20% decay to one of Perturabo's projects

I thought about Daemon Worlds J-P-K would face.
They were gross, horrific or both.
I don't know if this would be cannon, but it was fun to let my imagination run wild.

Man, this omake was incredible to read. The entire thing felt like a cinematic trailer, and the way you had the brief snippets of conversation within each section was very well done. I especially enjoyed the eleven main worlds idea, and I'll almost certainly take ideas from some of the worlds shown here. My personal favorite snippet though has to be the Valhallans. I don't know why, but for some reason they were just so fun to read. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] Pick a Chaos God. GM Reveals Number of Worlds You'll be Facing of the Fifty that will be Invaded.
[] +10 to the first set of rolls for the Ritual Crusade

Negaverse KHAAAAAAAAAAAN 5!!!

Next up is a continuation of the Khan negaverse. I will say that the comments on Kesar holding back in their races was hilarious and something I could see SV saying. Moreover the three interlude choices were definitely interesting to consider, even as someone outside of the negaverse. For some reason I feel like they were discussed previously, but the details feel so vague to me. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] GM Reveals Khan's current projects (before Ritual Preparations)
[] -20% decay to one of Khan's projects

Negaverse KHAAAAAAAAAAAN 6!!!

Next up is the Khan negaverse reacting to one of the interlude choices within the last negaverse, specifically Scafrir. I will say that their reactions were definitely fun, but I particularly liked the idea of Khan making a poem out of it. He's got a fairly interesting project related to poems, so that would be a fun idea for after the ritual. Moreover, the analaysis of the nanobot warheads he has was also quite accurate and will almost certainly show up in the quest. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] Ask the GM a question and they shall answer. (Subject to veto)
[] -20% decay to one of Khan's projects

I promised that I'd upload the Trials of Purity: Temptations 2 during the weekend, even if I didn't finish it. But after some thought, I realized one particular scene feels a bit out of place regardless, and that I'd probably do better to have it posted separate. So here it is:

Next up is the return of Beltran and Omar, this time discussing their plans for a spar. I will say that it's quite a fun piece and showcases a fair bit of the interpersonal tension between this merry band of psykers. It's going to be fun having them for the ritual. There were a lot of touches here that I liked from Oriacarius planning out spars for hours, the idea of legendary fighters, and the constant not using the word 'Brother.' As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] +10 to Beltran's personal rolls during the Ritual Crusade
[] -10 to a certain check - Not Revealed What Check that is

The power of music part 2.

Next up we have the power of music, and I've got to say that it was such a lovely omake. The idea of music waking up machine spirits was a pretty fascinating one, and the Vigilance's thoughts were just so wholesome. The ties to the last power of music omake with the tech priest was also rather nice, and the song that was chosen is rather fun to listen to. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] +10 to the Vigilance's personal rolls during the Ritual Crusade
[] +10% to Warden Legion Combat Training in Year 30

Another one with the Maelstrom War.

Next up is a really nice testament from Valhalla. The tie in to the rewritten prologue was very nice to see, and I had a bit of a smile on my face as I read it. In particular though, the ending was masterfully done. It felt epic to read, and it tied in really well to the rest of the omake. Moreover the character within is such an interesting person to consider. As for your reward:

[] +5 to a roll of the GM's choice
[] Ask the GM a question and they shall answer (subject to veto)
[] GM Reveals Number of Witch Hunters and Their Effect on the Ritual Crusade

Thanks Daemon for my reward:
[] +10 to the Vigilance's personal rolls during the Ritual Crusade
edited when I saw that it was in plural as in more than one roll and they are all the rolls of the vigilance in all of the ritual i immediately change my decision.

Them? Them! Don't thin you can slip that past me!

On a more relevant note: I'm glad you liked it! I liked the idea of these two old Astartes sitting around waiting to absolutely destroy the more talented new blood. That, and as you said, them having grown so close and attached to one another that they'd drop the honorifics. Plus, it was a great opportunity to world build, which is always fun!

As for the reward, all of these are pretty great. The +5 is better than normal since there are fifty worlds, and so it's actually pretty likely that at least one will lose by five points or less. The -10 to a check is probably even more useful, but since I don't really know what that check may be it's a bit difficult to say whether or not that's the most useful option or not. Though, if I had to guess it's probably one of the Chaos Gods noticing us, or something relating to Omar?

In the end, I'm going to have to go for:
[X] +10 to Beltran's personal rolls during the Ritual Crusade
Because not only is that effectively +10 CR, but as someone on a kill-team +10 to his personal combat may very well be vital. Plus, it's to every roll, which is pretty massive. Plus, it continue the time-honored tradition of Beltran stealing the spotlight.

Which Chaos God are you choosing?

As for the Witch Hunters, currently there are 40 million of them covering approximately 40 worlds. For the Ritual, you're looking at 20 million joining the initial start and another 10 million trickling in over the next five years. As for their effects, due to the sheer number of Imperial Army personnel they'll be limited to 2-3 of the initially assaulted worlds. Essentially they'll focus on the most critical ones for supplies. As for the what they do, they effectively provide an independent d100+80 to seek out any corruption with the guard.

No Escape
No Escape

"You shall know no fear," those words echoed an awful amount against his mind. Bouncing about his brain as he felt exactly what they told him he wouldn't. Then again maybe they hadn't meant that he wouldn't feel it. Because he stood here fighting back against the robots who had torn about Beetzle in a moment with their claw-shaped arms piercing directly through the relatively paper thing carapace he and the rest of the Scout Marines here wore in comparison to Brother-Sergeant Julios.

It ducked and felt the displaced air push him further to the ground as the heavy arm of the damnable machine swept through the space his head had been in just a millisecond ago. Rolling forward he turned and lifted his bolter to place the thing within his sights and feathered the trigger, smirking as rounds tore right into its head damaging whatever sensors it used to guide it.

"Artor!" A quick glance around the room told him it'd been Helal that had shouted his name. The long-haired boy was stuck trying to rescue Beetlze's body unaware that such was folly.

His gun barked loudly twice as he let the ones blocking Helal's path enjoy the privilege of bolter rounds to their vulnerable joints. It was pleasing to see both dropping like they had taken an arrow to the knee, allowing his fellow Eternal Warden to quickly decapitate them with the long knives they'd been issued. But the feeling didn't last as he heard movement behind him.

Jumping to the side saw one of the primitive monstrosities rushing past and directly into its fallen brethrens corpse. It tripped. He almost laughed at that, it was a testament to the hypno-indoctrination he didn't. Lifting the gun up once more he ended it before the thing could lift itself up from the floor.

"Helal," he called out even as his eyes roamed the corridor looking for more threats. "Where are the others?"

The Scout in question remained silent.

"Helal!" Artor raised his voice expressing his frustration. "Answer now."

When no answer came his eyes returned from their constant vigilance to find the man weeping over their fallen friend as he tried to put him together. His gut churned as he watched Helal muttering to himself in some foreign tongue, his hands shifting through the fallen Scout's body.

"Goddamnit Helal," Artor shouted, stepping closer and nudging the other with his foot. "Where is the rest of our Squad?"

As his foot tapped on the Scout's armor, Helal looked up. He stumbled back as he gazed into Helal's eyes. The other had discarded his helmet and what he saw was red irises that hurt his head.

"He's dead." It wasn't the answer he was looking for, but it was something.

"Where's the squad Helal?"

"It's their fault!" The shout saw him flinching away. The uncomfortable pain only intensified as Helal stared at him with those bloody eyes.

"The machines killed Beetzle and they'll kill us," Artor responded even as he grew more and more irritated with his brother. "Now where is our squad? We have to get out of here."

Whatever answer he was hoping for he wouldn't, Helal could only utter the words: "They killed him."

A sigh escaped his lips at those words. Helal was useless, he should have known the strong bond Beetzle and him had was an issue. He just hadn't expected it to be demonstrated like this. Moving closer to his companion Artor placed a hand on his shoulder as a show of support.

Sadness, hate, he felt it all just like Helal, but he couldn't let it consume him. Regretting what was to come next he pulled turning his brother around just in time to meet the oncoming haymaker.

He winced as the other Scout-Marine was tossed roughly to the ground by his fist. The next few words out of his mouth however proved that his action had been worth it.

"What the fuck Artor!" It was a pained shout, but it held more emotion then the pure hatred and sadness Helal had previously held.

"Maybe now you'd care to answer my question?"

"Huh? What…." Helal froze off as he recalled exactly what Artor had been asking. "Up ahead, the tide cut us off. The group was split in three. Sergeant Julio was with Kinsler and Harken being driven North while the other got pushed back towards the base."

That was not an ideal situation. The squad was split up against the enemy and seemingly being corralled. With Uriol and Markus also being on their own it really made matters worse. Pushing for Julios meant they could abandon those two to their deaths, but going after the Sergeant meant further into the belly of the beast and into these enemies.

"Artor?" Helal's voice was weak.

"Yes?" Better to answer him then allow him to return to whatever trance he'd fallen under.

"I think," his shoulders drooped as he spoke. "Uriol and Markus are dead."

"But you just~" Artor hadn't even finished his protest before he was interrupted.

"Look," and so he did, following Helal's own gaze.

The chittering sound he'd been hearing had grown closer and by now the light that the main corridor had shed down this accessway was blocked. Not that the darkness mattered when they could see in it.

Passing by were blood-soaked machines, flesh and armor hanging from their clawed hands. His heart sunk. Beetzle wasn't the only casualty then. Hurriedly he grabbed Helal and rushed into the crevice of another accessway allowing the door to slide shut behind him as he forged warily into the dark.

"Shush," he ordered Helal preempting whatever he could say. "Right now communication systems aren't working, over a quarter of our squad is dead, the rest are missing and those things are still around. Our goal is to report back to the First Captain, that's our only goal. Comprehend?"

"I understand."

Artor sighed in relief. Seemed Helal was back to being reasonable for real. "Good, now help me open the door."

Together they managed to force open the steely grey bulkhead that had impeded further progress. Behind it lay more darkness easily seen through save the hulking masses of metal that faced them. Red light appeared as a mass of plasma traveled at them.

Rather than duck both rolled to the side allowing the ball to travel through the open doors behind them. Swiftly coming out of his roll, Artor found his bolter aimed directly at the head and let loose watching as the adamantium tipped explosive rounds tore right through the thing and into its comrades.

Off to his side he heard Helal's own weapon sound off and enjoyed the sight of the enemy being perforated. He strode forward, moving closer even as he continued to pour the shots right into the machines. Adjusting his aim let him bring another two down and Helal finished off the last one struggling to move forward in hopes of slaying them.

"Seems the station is crawling with enemies," he called out as he moved around the bodies maintaining a decent distance to ensure that if they were merely faking death he wouldn't be caught so easily.

"A large trap." Helal yelled back.

"But why are these so easily sla~ ugh!" Artor's words were cut off by the explosion that tossed him back.

Soaring through the air his last thought before he impacted roughly against the metal walls was why the first set didn't explode.

"Er-urhm…" the wounded Scout-Marine groaned out as he came too. What awaited him was pain and the sound of bolter-fire.

Struggling Artor managed to roll over and see Helal fighting several of the attacking machines, knowing his duty he reached for his bolter only to not find it. The explosion had stripped it free of his grasp. All he had was the bolt-pistol and his knife, not exactly the ordinance wanted in situations like these.

Propping his arm up along the ground, he managed to aim the pistol downrange at the robots. Once, twice, three times the pistol roared out, bucking in his injured grip. Yet his aim was not off and three of the attackers found themselves suddenly crumpling under the realization of reality.

A bolt pistol might not be the most powerful but it was up to the task of wounding these things. Sporting sparking joints they could no longer balance their weight appropriately and thus came toppling down allowing Helal some space. He hadn't needed it, but the space let him swiftly take out the remaining two before ending the fallen trio with a double tap to what constituted their head and chest.

Smiling Artor laid his head back on the ground and watched as Helal's approach grew darker and darker. He looked up at his brother for the last time before finally the darkness that had been encroaching from the corners fully covered his vision.
